The ingredients are not identical but similar enough, (both contain ceramides, niacinimide, glycerin, etc), that I thought it might be a suitable replacement. The texture is like a thin jelly, it feels wonderful on the skin. It's cooling and leaves the slightest tackiness behind, especially if layered over a serum or essence. It's not too sticky, though, and I don't have any problems applying liquid foundation over it. With powder foundation it does need a mattifying primer before application. This moisturizer does not mattify the skin. It does not make my pores look any smaller, and though I haven't tried using exclusively this moisturizer, I'm willing to bet it's my serum keeping my skin in check. It's not life-changing but it's a great moisturizer for oily skin, and a pleasure to use. My skin is sensitive and acne-prone, and I have experienced zero redness, zero breakouts, zero irritation from this product. I'll probably buy it again. Only four stars because it doesn't do everything it says it does.
