I actually use this as a powder foundation after applying concealer to my face. I have sensitive, dry-to-very dry skin, that is very sensitive. This powder doesn't irritate my skin or make my acne prone skin any worse. I don't wear moisturizer or primer underneath it, because I feel that in several cases this is what can and often does lead to causing problems with the issues of exactly how a product performs on ones face. Plenty of moisturizers aren't compatible with makeup, and you also have to be very careful with primers, because in many cases they can actually work against doing the very things that their supposedly designed to ward off in the first place. Plenty of people don't take this into consideration enough, but it something that is super important for sure. Oh, and if you have combo skin, you should be applying an oil free moisturizer only to the dry spots on your face as needed. If you have oily or very oily skin, you do not need to apply a moisturizer to your face, because your skin is already over producing enough sebum and applying a moisturizer on oily or very skin will throughout the day, only make your face look even more oiler. For my dry skin gals, I highly recommend using a moisturizer, if needed under your foundation, whether it be a liquid, powder, etc., as needed, but do use one that leaves your face overly oily or greasy to the touch, before you even have chance to put on your makeup, because this will not set well with your makeup.
The reason why I don't choose to use this powder as a setting powder over the NYX Can't Stop Won't Stop Liquid Foundation, is because I actually find that the liquid foundation actually actually sets itself on my face without the need for being set with powder and definitely stays flawless and matte on me all day until I take it off.
This powder is great in that it provides a level of coverage to the face without being heavy. This is not a full coverage powder foundation, so unless you have perfectly clear skin, or almost perfect skin, I don't recommend using it by itself as a lightweight powder foundation. I do have to use concealer first, in order to fully conceal my dark circles and other discolorations on my face, and then I use a brush to apply this powder all over my face thereafter. I have not experiencing any problems with it making my face very shimmery or looking like a greaseball before the end of the day, either. Also, I have not experienced it creasing, caking up, oxidizing, or doing anything weird on my face. So. I definitely will continue to buy it for sure.
I just wanted to further add that yes, this powder does go on matte, but not super matte. It also doesn't go on chalky and make me look, ashy either. After it ends up melting into my skin, it takes upon a very natural look, almost like a second skin. If you have combo, oily, or very oily skin, or even if you happen to live in a tropical climate, I would certainly recommend either wearing a mattifying primer on your face, on the areas where you get oily, whether it is in certain spots or all over the face. And, also, possibly adding a setting spray to your makeup regimen, that you can apply last to lock your makeup in place for a very extended period of time, without worrying about it constantly transferring on everything that touches your face, as well as, in order to keep ones face shine free and fresh looking for a very long period of time as well.
I was excited to try this powder but it is not that functional like other powder makeup. Most powder makeup's top cover has space to pour the powder to then use the brush to apply the makeup. This cover has a big circle component in the middle that makes it difficult to swirl/dip the makeup brush in. It's very messy.
I Love to use NYX to set my concealer before I go out into the melting Georgia Sun. It's light and doesn't make your face too white.
If you're looking for a great setting powder that prevents an oily/cakey look and helps your skin glow, then this is the product for you! I have this product in shade light-medium, and I have fairly medium-brown skin. Great investment!
I rather have the stay matte not flat. Theyve discontinued an awesome product. This just doesnt measure up. Wont buy again
I'd like this product more if it wasnt a pain to get out, can do without the sifter part!
love this product. keeps me matte for hours. and a little definitely goes a long way. would definitely recommend
