Most Helpful Positive Review Best used in combination with other products
BOTTOM LINE: In my opinion, this will not replace your expensive all-in-one serum by itself, and is best used with additional Retinol, Vitamin C, and moisturizing products. But, with those *and* Buffet, you will probably get a better result than with an all-in-one serum because of the increased ingredient potency and ability to customize the areas/products/potency of what you use to suit your individual skin needs and sensitivities.
REVIEW: I bought this to replace an empty Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Serum, so that is what I will compare it to. I will say that with the Ordinary, you have to remember that it's not designed to be an "all-in-one" product, but to be used with others in your routine. The BB serum was more moisturizing (due to having oils in it) and is more of an all-in-one (vitamin C, caffeine, wheat bran etc), and if you are switching from a serum like that to a peptide-only serum alone, then you will probably not understand the hype. So let me explain it: I use it at night with their Vitamin C 23% or Retinoid 2% in squalane (all over), Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA (dry areas and fine lines), and Niacinamide + zinc (around my hairline where I get acne). While using more products is more of a hassle, I can definitely see a *HUGE* difference in my skin since I changed my routine to this. While I have to use more products, all of the products are MUCH more potent than they are in an all-in-one serum. You are getting SO many more different kinds of peptides in Buffet than Extra Repair, and almost definitely more peptides as a total % of the serum. And and when one ingredient doesn't work well on an area, then I just stop using it there (like the moisturizer on my forehead). This lets you really target areas with ingredients, which I like better than using a milder all-in-one everywhere because it is more potent and thus does more. Plus, you do get a lot more actual product for the price.
Most Helpful Critical Review Didn't see any change, not sure it did anything
I so badly wanted to love this product. SOOO BADLY!!! Everyone and I mean everyone has raved about it, and it's so full of amazing ingredients and such a friendly price point, it seemed like a miracle sent from the skincare gods providing me with the perfect serum. And I personally love how pared down TO products are, with just few hero ingredients, since I have many steps in my routine and am always worried about doubling up on ingredients when I don't want to, or mixing things that shouldn't be combined. So this seemed simple and hassle-free.
But it was just.....meh. I noticed no difference, no change, no nothing - like applying water. It just literally did nothing for my skin, and I used it diligently nightly until I finished the bottle. It was a nice texture and easy to combine with my other serums and hydrators but it just did....nothing. At least it wasn't expensive at all, but I won't be repurchasing since it was a waste for me. At least it didin't irritate my very reactive skin or break me out, so I am thankful for that. If you find that it works for you, it's probably a lovely product to keep in your routine. But it's a pass for me.

The GOAT of peptide serums
Natasha from USA
If you want to incorporate peptides into your skincare routine, this is it. Forget about all those other expensive peptide products on the market. This serum contains 7 peptides and 11 individual amino acids. That's all the peptide/amino acid action you need. For the price, you really can't beat it. I've gone through one bottle of this serum and one of the version containing copper peptides. Personally I haven't seen any anti-aging benefits, but those are the kinds of results that take a very long time to see. Nevertheless, if you're intrigued by the research on peptides and want to give them a go, there's no reason to pay a ton of money when Buffet exists. This also works well as a simple hydrating serum. Definitely recommend.
This product made my acne even worse
Am from Virginia
I had used this product for about 2 weeks every day AM and PM, as said in the directions, and it started off good but then it caused many small bumps on my forehead and caused the scars on the center of my cheeks to become worse and redder, plus more bumps.
Overall very unsatisfied with this product but I am trying to give it another chance by using it less often and mixing it with moisturizer. I'm not sure if I was supposed to start off by using it every other day at first but it wasn't mentioned in the directions so I'm unpleased.
Wanted to love it
Disappointed from TN
I have sensitive combination skin and was excited since it's a serum and not a heavy cream. I applied it one morning and within 10 mins I had a reaction. I had a rash and bumps come up on my face. Super bummed.
Works great and leaves skin soft

I've had this since Christmas and I've already bought another! So good!

I bought this for the husband. He's got very dark circles under his eyes. I believe their genetic, but I wanted to try and brighten them, they've gotten darker as he gets older. I'm working on his fine lines to. It's the one skin care product I've managed to get him to use regularly.. possibly because it doesn't appear feminine and extra.. it's straight to the point and simple. I like that. It's only been a few days so I haven't noticed results, but I'll update on that later.
Been using it on my neck on the evening as well. It's a lil sticky compared to my Lancome serum, but not bad.. it goes away after a few mins.
The Best Of Their Product Line
Mark ;) from Orlando, FL
I've used both this and the copper peptide version. Both are outstanding products. I use a mild ceramide cleanser, followed by The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% + HA and then Buffet. I have combination skin that can get a little dry but also can be prone to a mild acne flare up along my jaw line. The combo of the LA/HA and this product keeps my skin looking near flawless. Enjoy.
Finished A Bottle
35 and Textured from Grand Junction, CO
After finishing a bottle I was happy with the results. I'm 35 and have scaring, so it was hard to see results. But my skin feels so hydrated and plump. I know it worked but I think I should focus on tackling my skin texture now that my skin barrier has been built up by this product. I'm 35 so I think I will try the "Buffet" with copper peptides instead. Remember this product has hylaronuc acid as well as matrixyl, it's basically multiple serums in one… hence the price.
unsure of results yet

this is new to me but I feel like it's doing something.
I'm very sensitive and dry and I have not noticed it drying or breaking me out at all
LOVE from US
I rave about this to everyone I know lol it's the one thing I never knew I needed. Started using this with a new skin care routine bc my skin was dry, dull, and aging. Within a week my skin looked so good and it's reduced wrinkles on my forehead and nose, very moisturizing and I glow and look healthy in my skin. I can always tell when I need it. It's better than the normal version without the copper.
incredible for dry skin, great makeup primer under mstrzr
emma from illionois
i use this under my moisturizer and it really keeps my skin hydrated! yes it is sticky but for dry skin it quenches my skin so well. i find this holds moisture in, if i skip this and just put my moisterizer, the dry winter air sucks the dryness out within 2 hours.
Another bonus is the stickiness actually acts a primer for my makeup. lasts alot longer than without.
for oily skinned people i think a small drop on each cheek distributed all over would solve any sticky problem
Wonderful! Would buy again!

Does not leave a peely or sticky film on the skin and hydrates. Gives you all the benefits in one serum hence the name "buffet". No fragrance and applies easy. Only need 2-3 drops for your whole face. Feels soothing on the skin and does not feel muddy or sticky.
It Works Instantly

I apply it at night before bed along with the rest of my skin regime.
Favorite Ordinary Product
Kelly D. from Michigan
I've tried a wide range of The Ordinary products. But by far the Buffet is my favorite! By time I hit 30 I started noticing finer lines and lack of plumpness in my face and even more so in my chest. So I tried a few different peptides and then Buffet. Took a few months, but STICK WITH IT. One day it was like the cumulative effect clicked at once. Face and chest look noticeably smoother, fuller, even some surgical scarring on my chest had softened and lightened. For the money you cant go wrong, wont break the bank applying this to whatever body area is needing attention unlike other serums and creams can. It's my go-to night serum and will be as long as they make it. Side note- tried the Buffet w/Copper for 5 months.....not worth the money, didnt make any difference and the price is 2x that of the regular, meh skip it.
I want to like it just not compatible with my skin
Shaylee from Santa Fe, NM
I use quite a few products from The Ordinary that work wonderful, but when I added this into my routine it made my face breakout. I made sure it didn't interfere with the other products and used it accordingly, but for some reason it doesn't work well with my skin. I wanted to like it and was hopeful it would work just it isn't compatible with my skin. I'm sure it works for others and wouldn't tell people not to try it just it might make your face breakout horribly if your skin doesn't like it haha.

I went to a new esthetician who recommended these products. I was trying to get away from my more expensive skin care line. BAD IDEA. I broke out so bad, and I have nearly perfect skin… I wanted to cry.
Definitely will keep buying this product

I love these products. I'm 54 and have noticed some awful changes in my skin. But I rushed out to buy these products for my sister. The very next day. Big improvement in tone and wrinkles. Very satisfied. Happy to see results on my neck.
Not sure what I expected
MamaMhysa from MN
I've tried of few of The Ordinary's products, and find them very basic and overall fine, never fantastic. I recently moved to a colder/dryer climate, so I decided to rely on the safe basic/fine brand to get my skin through the transitional period. Not sure what I expected from The Buffet, but what I got was an instant reaction! It tingled uncomfortably, and made the skin red and bumpy. I couldn't wash it off fast enough! There's nothing in the ingredient list that I haven't used before in other products, so I can only assume it's the formulation. It's very sticky and harsh. Not for reactive skin.

I was hesitant to spend "a little extra" on this guy, but I'm so glad I did! this stuff works! my skin is plump and has a MUCH smoother appearance since I added this into my regimen.
Do not recommend
Lilo the Explorer from New Jersey
I really wanted to like this product, but after using it for just a couple of days my skin was just not having it. It caused me to breakout (completely uncommon for me). The formula itself seems to not absorb as it leaves a sticky layer on the skin and if you layer it with other products, it starts to peel and crumble. Don't bother.
I really wanted to like it but it's so harsh
Stephano from Johnson city, Tennessee
I have a couple other ordinary products and while some of them aren't comfortable (like the peel and toner) they're okay, this one on the other hand burns horribly. Horrible pain from the time it touches my skin and have to frantically wipe it off. Left me with peeling and a chemical burn. I don't even have sensitive skin!
Not for all skin types
Mj from San Jose, CA
Oh wow, this product was a big miss for my skin. This had such great reviews, I was super excited to try it. This was also my first Ordinary product purchase. I have combination skin leaning to oily, with occasional hormone related acne. This product feels light but goes down very sticky on the skin. It is not the best feeling to have. I layered my usual nighttime moisturizer over it. After 3 days I started breaking out. I cut it back to only using at night but I'd already gone and done it. My skin was seriously aggravated and clogged. I had the worst, most painful hard cystic pimple in my life from this. I immediately stopped and it's stopped raging. Instead I just decided to use this on the back of my hands and feet, two places I have never had acne before, and will see if I notice any improvement in my skin texture there. Heaven help me if this breaks me out there. All I know is that I am never putting this on my face again.
Best product ever.

Bad acne runs in my family, my brothers have it, my mom had it, my dad had it, but not me. At around 12 i started using this product and i have clear skin. If I don't use this serum for 2-3 days I start getting a lot of acne!! Also make sure to replace it if you have had it for over a year, doesn't matter if it's half full, it stops working as well.
