Most Helpful Positive Review Awesome Brush Cleaner I was in the market for a new solid brush cleaner bar and stumbled upon this one. The previous brush cleanser I had been using for the past year was alright, but I frankly haven't been totally satisfied as far as results. I read the reviews of this, compared this cleansing bar to the one I currently use and got three since I could get all three for less than one of the current bar I was using/just about run out of (Buy 2, Get 1). I used one the minute I got it, as I was excited to see how this would work. First thing I noticed is that it doesn't kick up a huge amount of lather and I'm okay with that. I was a little disappointed it didn't include a scrubbing pad, but I have a few already, so it wasn't a make or break thing for me. It would've been helpful, though, if I was to take this on vacation and I didn't have a travel-ready scrubbing pad. But again, not a deal-breaker. I only needed a little bit of the soap on my brush to really give it the clean my brushes needed. The brush that always is the hardest to clean, for me, is foundation since some of my foundations are waterproof and need a bit more scrubbing, even a double cleanse to get fully clean. I only needed one round and it got every bit of foundation out of my brush. That definitely made cleaning my brushes a bit easier. I also noticed that it doesn't take as long to rinse out the soap out of my brushes like the one I was using previously and even then, it would feel like I never got it all. This bar soap cleans beautifully and rinses out just as well. I'm super happy with my purchase and glad I was able to get three of them, so I'm set for awhile. My brushes feel like new once they dry and perform like they did when I first got them. It's like a new brush each time I clean it. I will be a forever fan of this brush cleanser, so great job Ulta!
Most Helpful Critical Review Left a film on my brushes and cleaned nothing. I was hoping this could be a replacement for the Beauty Blender solids since they're pricey and I honestly don't need that many silicone pads when I have one giant one.
I was completely and utterly wrong.
Sometimes I'll use one of my very gentle cleansers on my brushes or, if the makeup is really stuck on, I'll use baby shampoo or a tiny bit of Dawn. I prefer to go with my cleansers because if I can use it on my face, then I know it's not going to accidentally transfer something to me later. Yet it seems like maybe the added argan oil (which my face does like by the way) is just making the brushes greasy and repels any cleaning efforts. Or maybe it's how the soap was milled. I'm not sure, but all I know is that I have to pre wash my brushes and then wash them again. I don't have this problem with Beauty Blender solids or using a very tiny dot of cleanser.
Brush soap really helps with not hurting my hands when it comes to cleaning my brushes so I'm just not sure why I'd choose a much harder way that's still leaving residue on my brushes. I don't quite get it. I think this is gonna go in the trash and I'm just gonna go back to using the Beauty Blender solids.
Listen, if you can make it work, you probably have greater than average arm strength or you might deal only in powder makeup. Awesome for you. I kinda like using liquid and cream mediums with my powder so if it can only handle one type of makeup I find this to be a dud. Huge shame, really. I really wanted this to work and I love so many ULTA brand products. Maybe they could just tweak the formula of this one a teensy bit?

Bought this on a whim along with a new scrubber for the brushes themselves. I followed the directions of just adding a little warm water to the soap and then washing the brush. I did it 3 times and the first brush I did, a foundation brush, still didn't come clean. So I opted out and used my regular method of Castile soap. I wash my brushes frequently but this didn't touch cleaning the brush completely. So I won't buy again and don't recommend.
It does the job 4

It does the job of cleaning brushes well
Thought it would be an affordable alternative to BB cleanser 2

I've been using this for a couple of months now & have given it many chances, but I think I'm going to have to trash it. Most of my eye brushes remain stiff with a greasy residue after they've completely dried, even after washing/rinsing 2+ times. I also find that it doesn't really remove color stains, no matter how many times you wash the brush. I just tried using another gentle bar of soap on some of the brushes that were still stained after using this cleanser and they easily washed away. It works ok with larger brushes I guess, but even then some of them will still dry stiff/greasy like the smaller eye brushes do. I really thought this would be a more affordable dupe to the BB solid cleanser, but it absolutely is not. Won't be buying again

Good Not Great 3

I wanted a cheaper option to replace the Beauty Blender bar, but wasn't too impressed with this one. Unlike the BB, this bar takes some work to suds up and doesn't clean the brush as quickly. My brushes are still clean, but some have to be washed more than once. Since it doesn't really suds up as quick, you have to watch that you don't apply extra pressure and smash the bristles down. If you want something cheaper than BB, go for it but don't expect it to be a complete dupe.

good soap 4

I really like this brush cleaner. it works very well and it smells soo good. I get it wet, get my brush wet, run my brush in circles on the soap, rinse it, then I rinse off the soap and let it sit out to dry. I do wish it was slightly bigger so it was easier to clean my bigger brushes like blush brushes. and be careful with liner brushes. if they're hard, it'll just take chunks out of the soap. and don't use hot water! one: not good for your brushes. two: it'll melt the soap
Horrible Brush Cleaner 1

I had previously used a different version of Ulta Sold Soap and absolutely loved it for cleaning my make-up brushes. It worked excellently, and I was disappointed to discover that it had been replaced with this version but decided to give it a try. This new version does not work at all for cleaning brushes. I didn't try it on sponges so I can't speak to that. Not only does it not clean the make-up off the brushes, but it leaves an oily residue that makes the brushes stiff and weird to use after they dry. It also leaves behind a very strong fragrance that reminds me of Moroccan oil, but x10. Trying to use brushes after they've been cleaned with this stuff is like spraying Moroccan oil all over your face. Maybe some people are into that. Not me. I immediately returned this product and am STILL (4 weeks later) trying to get this awful residue out of my expensive brushes. I would never recommend this to anyone and am afraid some of my thicker brushes are completely ruined now. :(((
Works Great For Me! 5

Before using this I was using the ULTA travel spray and my brushes were not being properly cleaned. But, this soap seems to do the job and I can immediately tell the difference! I wash my brushes weekly and this soap will clean even the ones I use for my foundation and bronzer!
It's okay 3

It smells good and seems to be gently on my brushes but it doesn't get all stains out like I'd hoped.
Just as good as beauty blender solid soap 5

This is a nice dupe for the beauty blender's solid cleaner. Works well and should last a while.
Not worth it 3

This is a waste of money and time. I definitely agree with other reviews. This is way too gentle to clean my brushes. As a brown skin girl it wouldn't clean my becca or fenty foundation off my brushes after 3 soap and rinse. I rather use beauty blender or my zote soap
I would buy this product again and recommend it. 5

Cleaning by makeup brushes was so simple with this product.
Perfect for Spounges 5
GlamWarriorShay from Michigan
I bought this mainly for my beauty sponges because I got tired of them tearing from the scrub mats. This is the best soap ever for sponges! It's got a great smell too. Each one of my beauty sponges have come out very clean and no more tearing! However I don't think this soap is good for brushes. Then again that isn't why I purchased it!

Smells Nice 3
Elaina from Wichita, KS
Okay so overall, it didn't clean my brushes very well, had to use quite a bit of this product to clean them, but it does smell really nice and makes the brushes soft once they've dried.
Don't waste your money 1
SH from Maryland, USA
This stuff smells nice and is definitely gentle, but maybe a little TOO gentle, as it doesn't appear to do much. I was hoping this would work well for my foundation brush, but no matter how many passes I make, it won't clean off even the lightest coverage foundations, never mind full coverage. I may try it as a weekly cleaner for eyeshadow brushes, but there's zero point in using this for anything more than that.
I loved it !! 5
