Most Helpful Positive Review Changed my Life ! I was skeptical at first because I had a really stubborn orange and brassy tones, I tried other toning shampoos that this one was a game changer. Definitely worth it for the price!
Most Helpful Critical Review Not for dyed hair I used this shampoo with the conditioner after my stylist friend told me to try a blue shampoo. I have naturally medium brown hair. After having highlights over the summer for the first time ever I had my hair dyed back to the original brown. I used only this shampoo and conditioner all summer. I had felt like my hair was extremely dry all summer but assumed it was the highlights. However my hair was so dry and Dana fed it wouldn't take the dye!!!! I was shocked as I've always taken great care of my hair. I continued to use this set for another month and then randomly used some of my old stuff and my hair felt nicer afterward. I stopped using this entirely and my hair is finally starting to improve in texture but the dried out damaged is already pretty bad.

So I am a dark brunette who has recently bleached and highlighted hair. Of course even with bleach my hair is pulling major orange. I tone using this shampoo on dry hair for 15 minutes followed by a deep conditioning. It really does help to tone that orange out.

Finally banished my brass 5

I bleached my grey/brown hair 2x and have tried everything to rid my hair of orangey yellow and came up with a perfect recipe. I put Blue Crush shampoo on my dry hair for 10 minutes, washed it out after slowly sudsing it. Then I put purple conditioner with blue drops on it afterward and "WA LA" my hair looks silvery blonde.

I have darker brunette hair and was hoping this would help with the brassy at the ends. The shampoo is a cobalt blue and your hands will be after using this too. Says results in 1 wash. My result was being a Smurf. Thank you, no thanks.
Finally a blue shampoo... 4

Finally a blue shampoo for brunettes. Workes great at keeping the brazziness from my hair even with hard water. This is gentle enough that I now use as my regular shampoo and extend the time between hair color.
Works very well 4

This works well. The shampoo does stain your hands; I would highly recommend washing your hands a couple times after applying. Makes my hair soft and has a nice shine to it.

This really does work wonders keeping the orange brassy tones out of my dark hair. You can see results, after just one time, but it works better the more often you use it. The scent is pretty nice too.
Worth it 5

So I am seeing in the reviews people complaining about having a red tint to their hair that the shampoo is not getting rid of. This is a BLUE shampoo made to tone ORANGE! Blue cancels orange, purple cancels yellow, and green cancels red. I have naturally dark brown thin dry curly hair that I dye with 30 volume A8 ION Light Ash Blond. Even if I bleach before to a level 7 or 8 my hair turns very very orange and is impossible to get rid of at times. This lightened it down to a golden blond which I was then able to use my purple toner on to get that icy ash blond I aim for. I let it sit in my orange sections for around 8 minutes. Like any toning shampoo it does dry out your hair so even though I followed up with the crush conditioner, I did an argon oil treatment after and my hair was good. Again its a toner so it will stain your hands if you aren't wearing gloves. I'm experienced with toners so I anticipated this and am usually able to remove it with a sugar scrub and hot water. This one has a good amount of toner however so I ended up having to use acetone to remove the blue from my nails and dryer parts of my hands that the scrub didn't work on. Over all it is a product I am happy to have purchased. Unlike other brands I have tried such as Eva NYC that appear and are priced as highly pigmented....this one actually is.
Pass - stained my shower grout 1

This stained my shower blue. I've been a regular John Frieda client for years and love their smoothing shampoo and conditioner and will continue to use those. Thought I'd try this. A year ago we did an expensive bathroom renovation with white subway tile and white grout in the new shower. In the wall insert where I keep the shampoo the grout is now blue. I've tried multiple bathroom cleaners and I can't get it out. Upset. If this helps someone avoid the same fate, I'm glad.

For starters this shampoo smells amazing. One of my favorite scents I've come across so far. As for toning it did a good job for me just using it once. The blonde by my roots looks amazing but the rest is still a little orangy. BUT, I did leave it in my hair for like 20 minutes. It stained parts of my hair green but only because they were already a very light blonde. It did come out in the next wash. I'll keep using it but I think using a toner will do a better job. Wavy preamble is before. The other two pics after the after

I was going back in forth trying to decide on a good blue shampoo. Never used one before but the bottle said in one use you see results. & they were not kidding. It really helped in on use & took away the bassyness too. Very good shampoo
Good overall 4

Overall, I do like this shampoo, and the corresponding conditioner. It does tone my hair and get rid of the red tones I have trouble keeping out of my hair. I actually have the opposite problem of some people on here however, as if I use it too many days in a row my hair gets almost greasy, which it literally never does. I just have to switch in between.
This product is messy... 4

This product is messy but fun! The shampoo is super blue so you really do need to make sure to wash your hands well after using it. I like the smell (it's not super strong) and it lathers great and helps my hair feel nice and clean. The only thing is I don't really seem to see any difference as far as when I wash it with any other type of shampoo, I don't see the benefits of the "blue" with my brunette hair but if it cleans my hair well and doesn't weight down my super fine hair, it's a winner in my eyes.

I'm super excited to use these shampoos and conditioner in my hair and I like budget friendly kinda anyways. I can't wait to buy more.
Helped bleached brunette hair 4
Lindsey from Virginia
Toned down brassiness and orange after just one use. It does really dry your hair out and my hair is already dry as it is from bleaching. (That's why I give 4 stars) Just use a deep conditioner after each use. I still have some orange hue so I'm hoping using this once a week will keep up with it. I was going to dock another star because the product was not packaged well and came in busted at the top with blue all through the padded envelope, but that's on Ulta not the John Frieda product.
It works! 4

I lightened my dark blonde/light brown hair using a bayalage technique with lightener and toner from sally. I didn't treat my hair to remove minerals and deposits first, and ended up with orange hair on my natural brown upper and yellowish orange on the previously bleached lighter. It was not cute.
I purchased this today at Ulta and after one use I'm already seeing the orange toned down. It dries your hair out and is harsh on it, so I am hoping I can keep the orange out with only using 1-2 times a week.
Love this! 5

I have dark brown bleached ombre hair and this stuff works amazing after one wash I noticed my orange was cooler light ash brown. This definitely works I needed a blue shampoo that tones like a salon and this is it! And if you are worried bout your hands turning blue it states to wash them immediately after applying your shampoo. It didn't stain my hands. Has a great smell and left my hair feeling soft so no it is not drying to my hair as I do put a leave in conditioner as well.
Disappointing 2

The first use I left the shampoo on for 10 minutes, then conditioned with Blue. It did nothing and after a few more uses, still hasn't improved the redness. A bit spendy for drugstore shampoo imo. The conditioner has a nice consistency, however I wouldn't purchase again.
