Most Helpful Positive Review Best Shampoo for oil and build up! This shampoo is what I've been searching for. I have an oily scalp that causes build up of rough, scaly patches. At first I thought it was dandruff, but no dandruff shampoo solved the problem. My stylist recommended this shampoo and I'm so thankful! It smells amazing and the tingling sensation feels great as I massage it into my scalp. After just 3 days the build up was gone and my hair had more volume. I can even wash my hair every other day now! I plan to try the conditioner as well. The only downfall is it's a little pricey, but I'm willing to pay because it works!
Most Helpful Critical Review Not that great... I bought this product because I have oily roots/scalp with dry ends. This was supposed to cleanse without over-drying. First, regarding the smell, it doesn't really smell like mint at all. The shampoo contains menthol, which caused a tingling sensation that was a bit much for me. For a shampoo for oily hair, it didn't rinse out well. My scalp and roots were oily again within 12 hours of use. I was using this with Hydrosource Detangling Solution conditioner (which I liked). Ultimately I had to return both products, as one of them caused me to have an allergic reaction. Beware if you have sensitive, reaction prone skin.

I have been searching for years to find my favorite shampoo and I finally found it. I have fine hair that tends to get oily at the scalp and drier at the ends. This shampoo cleans my hair so well without drying it out - it smells amazing and gives my scalp this minty fresh cooling sensation. I pair it with the hydrasource conditioning balm (smells just like a salon) and my hair has never looked or felt this good. I can go days without washing in between.
Really love this shampoo! 5

I have had trouble with my hair/roots being very oily. I have tried other products that fail to clean the roots, but this shampoo not only smells wonderful, but actually works!!

I don't normally write reviews but felt compelled to in case other people are struggling with the same issues I was.
I have baby fine, straight, borderline too soft hair that gets oily quickly. I've tried 3 different sets of salon brand shampoo/conditioner sets in the last few months and nothing was fixing my issues—baby fine hair that seemed to get oily/feel waxy within minutes of showering even after installing a water softener.
I've used this set three times and it's gotten my hair back to how I remember it at it's best. I can go longer between washes if I want and I've got volume/bounce again. If you're struggling with fine/flat/oily hair woes give these a try.

The cooling mint sensation was cool but boy did it make my hair fall out! I used it only twice and the amount of hair i was pulling out was scary. I stopped using it and saw an immediate difference. Was not for me. :(

Best Anti-Dandruff Shampoo from Tennessee
I have had extremely dry scalp/psoriasis for years. It was so bad that my entire scalp would scab over, and I considered seeing a doctor. I tried Nizoral, coal tar shampoo, a steroid based shampoo, apple cider vinegar based shampoo, tea tree shampoo, scalp sprays, everything under the sun that claimed anti-dandruff. I started using this shampoo about 5 months ago and it has completely healed my scalp! I haven't even seen flakes. It doesn't dry your hair out or burn when you wash your hair. Trust me when I say this WORKS! I will never use anything else.
Not my favorite 2

I love the smell of the mint, lather is great, but it unfortunately dried out my scalp awfully. I have thin/medium hair down to my hips with a oily and flakey scalp, but this just dried out my scalp something awful. Made my scalp even itchier. Sadly will not repurchase again.
I'll stick to the Anti-Dandruff ScalpSync instead.

I bought the shampoo & conditioner for the BOGO 50% off and honestly I really love this stuff. Nice lather and my hair and scalp feel super clean. Has a nice fresh scent. I'll definitely buy this again.

I have been looking around off and on for good shampoo and conditioner that doesn't make my hair oily, frizzy, and makes it feel sleek. I have a naturally oily scalp and I have used this twice so far and have been able to go 3 days without having to wash my hair and it feels incredibly soft and is so shiny. Right now I'm on day 3 and could probably go another day before washing.

I love the scent. It's minty combined with their signature but lighter. In the bottle it's strong than when used. That's all I liked. I have an oily scalp and dry ends. My hair is past my hips and not colored. It's hard to keep that long hair balanced living in a semi desert climate.
I use the Hydrasource line and thought I would give this a try with the matching conditioner.
My ends looked as if I had damaged them and the tangling was so bad. The coated feeling was horrible and my roots felt like I had not washed my hair. Strange for a sulfate shampoo.
This does not contain menthol. Maybe they changed the formula from years ago. It does contain 2 different mint extracts. It's a shame they couldn't make this better. The other scalp shampoo contains silicone. Gross who wants that on their scalp? Especially someone having scalp issues.

Hi from Washington
I was looking for a good shampoo that had the tingle from the mintiness since it stimulates your scalp, let me just say that this makes my hair so shiny and soft! I have thick naturally wavy hair and it is amazing!

I bought this for my sensitive-scalp (and skin) daughter. It was recommended by an aesthetician. But as it turns out, we ALL use it: it's the family favorite.
best I've used! 5

I have fine, straight hair that is extremely oily!!! literally only a few hours after washing it it starts looking oily. I have tried so many different brands but finally i gave this a try (I've used their color shampoo quite a bit already)and I am so glad I did! usually the next day after washing it my hair looks so oily and greasy, I was having to wash it twice a day if not more at times, which caused my color to fade quickly. After using this the night my hair still looks clean, and smells good the next day which NEVER happens lol. its made my hair so soft and keeps it from looking like a grease trap! I use with the color last Conditioner and love the results!!!
Only shampoo I will ever use 5

My hair and scalp are oily and I also have to deal with a sensitive scalp. The shampoos that I have used in the past have completely dried out my scalp, caused oily hair and issues with my scalp. My hair stylist used this shampoo on me and I have never looked back! It helps me with all of my issues and never ever dries out my scalp and hair. It is worth its price!
Not for dandruff issues or dry scalp 3
Monica from Edgerton
I was hoping this would work for my dry scalp and dandruff. I don't have a lot but it's a fair amount. This came up in a search for my specific issues so I decided to try although it's expensive. Tried it twice and it feels nice so I didn't have reactions to it. My hair was soft but my scalp was dry and a little more flaky. Especially the second time I used it. I took a break for a couple of weeks and tried again without the conditioner and seemed to be better but still produced flakes more than I already had. Bought Nioxin for specifically dandruff and other problems. That solved my problem. For one more time I used the Biolage again and mannn my scalp itched this time and had a lot of flakes. So, this definitely doesn't work for me. I don't think it's for dry scalp and dandruff. I think this probably works more like a clarifying shampoo and conditioner to remove product buildup. Which is what it says but it's also supposed to help with other things. That said I don't think it works well for even that in my opinion. I'd pass on this.
Cooling Relief 5
Jes from Chicago, IL
I have an extremely irritable scalp, and very fine, oily hair. I felt like I had to wash my hair every single day just to look presentable and not be scratching non stop. I had tried so many scalp treatment oils and leave in treatments to help soothe my scalp, but they all just left me more oily than ever. This duo is MAGIC. As soon as I started using it, the cooling effect was incredible. It was my first true itch relief in MONTHS. Even after I rinsed it out and let my hair dry, my scalp still felt actively cooled. It's definitely helping me to simplify my products, and I don't have to wash anywhere near as frequently. Thank you god.
Did not work for me 1
Izzy from Los Angeles
After a few couple of times trying this and the conditioner my hair was soft, not oily and so on. However, as I kept using it my hair started to get a lot of buildup, oily throughout the day, and dandruff. I only washed my hair twice a week but when it started causing me problems I feel like I need to wash it more often because of how oily it was and how much dandruff it gave me. It's sucks because I really thought I found something that would work for me.
Not for oily hair! 1
Kristin from Atlanta
I have very oily hair. Have to wash daily. I usually use Suave clarifying shampoo, because it's the only one I've found to really cleanse my hair. I love the smell of Biolage and wanted to try, since I've used their conditioner in the past and I loved it. This didn't cleanse my hair like I had hoped. Made my head cold, but that was about it. Scalp was still oily after scrubbing. Very disappointed.
In love after 1 week! 4
Alexis from Oregon
I tend to have an oily scalp & find that I have to wash my hair on a daily basis (super inconvenient when camping). I researched the best shampoos for an oily scalp, trying out some of the cheaper products from our local convenience store; though I did not have much success with the other brands. Next on my list was this Biolage Scalpsync--I have been using this shampoo paired with Biolage Scalpsync Conditioner for just over a week & I am already loving it. First of all the smell is so nice throughout the entire day, but more importantly I am not fighting an immense amount of oil as I have in the past. Though I cannot speak to the results over a longer period of time, I am sure that I will be very much in love with it weeks from now.

I returned it 1

I have I guess would be normal or medium hair. I always have to wash my hair every other day if not every day and I was hoping that this shampoo would help stretch it to a solid 48 hours+. It did not. Actually didn't last A whole 24 hours. So I returned it
Absolutely LOVE this!! 5

I want to preface this that I have DRY HAIR and scalp issues. I didn't even see that this was meant for oily hair types. If you have oily hair I would absolutely skip because this added a lot of moisture to my dry hair. But for my hair and scalp issues it's helped immensely. My hair has a hard time retaining moisture my climate is just extremely dry and my scalp is usually so dry it burns and itches and I can tap my hairline with my fingertip and a bunch of flakes fall down. It got so painful I just couldn't bare with it anymore. It definitely has a cooling effect on my dry, burning scalp. When I got out of the shower it was like I felt the breeze through each strand of hair it was so refreshing. I took a shower about 12 hrs ago and I'm still flake free, did an aggressive shake through (my flakes usually come back as soon as my hair is dry so about 2 hours at most.) Absolutely love, love, love. I will definitely restock when I run out in the bigger bottles. But again IF YOU HAVE OILY HAIR, DEFINITELY Skip. Idk why they would advertise this for oily hair when it's a life saver for dry hair.
