Most Helpful Positive Review Moisturizing, Feels Nice And Light On Face, Faint I was excited to try this La Roche-Posay Anthelios 100% Mineral Sunscreen Moisturizer with Hyaluronic Acid.
It comes in a nice 50ml white plastic bottle with pump dispenser and clear cap. I have no complaints about the packaging.
This SPF moisturizer feels like a nice medium thickness lotion. It doesn't exactly glide perfectly smoothly over skin like a regular light moisturizer, but is easy enough to spread. It almost feels like it might be greasy and heavy when you have it on your fingers, but fortunately, it doesn't feel that way on my face. It makes my skin feel soft with a little hydration and dries down quite nicely shortly after application.
The first time I used, I was quite generous as I usually am with sunscreen, and it did leave a faint white cast on my face. I thought it wasn't too noticeable until I went outside and could definitely tell looking in my car mirror. After that, I used a smaller but still adequate amount, and I don't notice the white cast as I'm wearing it right now. If you work a little more to rub it in enough, you can effectively minimize the white cast.
Overall, I really do like it. I try to apply a substantial amount of sunscreen and so what I'll probably do is put another product I have that doesn't leave any white cast on first and then this one second. This product would have been 5 stars if not for that noticeable white cast when I applied a somewhat larger amount.

Most Helpful Critical Review Hmm it's ok.... I'm Black and wanted to try this product because everyone raves about mineral sunscreen being better than chemical. It leaves a cast. The consistency is thick. Kind of like toothpaste but not gritty. It does protect the skin and has a blurring effect. If you have fitz skin 1 and 2 i believe this product will be just fine. If you are darker than a 3 it may leave a cast. The product was not irritating at all and actually felt like a clay mask when first applied. It does protect the skin. My favorite sunscreen is actually the cooling gel 60 and the mexoryl spf 15. Yes, they are chemicals but they encourage people like me to wear sun protection with out the cast. I would not repurchase this sunscreen BUT if you like mineral sunscreen and are very light give it a try.

great mineral sunscreen 5

this isn't tinted, so it's a bit white at first application, but quickly fades. Love this brand
Meh not for me 3
ABK from Florida
As others have noted, there is a white cast when applied. I'm very fair skinned and could still see it after applying and really blending it in.
It's a mineral sunscreen, so this is to be expected. I think this works more as a face sunscreen as opposed to a moisturizer with SPF. It does feel heavy on the skin but can be applied under makeup. It just took a lot of work to blend my makeup. It wasn't oily and is fragrance free.
Not a fan 2
Kida from Chico
I really wanted to like this stuff, especially considering that is isnt cheap but I am not a fan at all. It is super hard to put on because it's so thick and doesn't spread well, and it makes my skin look a weird greenish-white color after I put it on.
Very thick and uncomfortable 1
Amelia123 from New York, NY
This sunscreen makes my face feel super sticky, even when my skin is dry from the winter air. I can only imagine how uncomfortable it must be in the summer. The formulation is very thick and non spreadable. It is thicker than your standard lotion. I can only tolerate wearing it for a few hours before I have to take it off. Maybe I will use it on my shoulders in the summer.
No smell, though.
Disappointed 2

It does leave a white cast, no matter how miniscule of a quantity you put on
Not the worst, but not the best 3
GabbyD123 from Florida
I got a sample from my dermatologist and recently started to try this out. Super hydrating, especially with it leaning more on the dryer side because of topical acne medication. The two greatest downsides for more are the white cast and the pilling that occurs. I will put on a fair amount of sunscreen, and no lie, it takes about 3 to 5 minutes to get ALMOST fully blended. I usually apply it about 10 minutes our so after my moisturizer, but that only helps with it blending in so much. In terms of the pilling, I noticed that sometimes after working it into my face and neck for so long, it kind of starts to pill. So, for anyone with a skin tone that is more on the olive side or darker, it would steer clear of this. And if you'd want to wear makeup on top of this, I would not recommend it. So for casual use for someone with a fair complexion, sure - anyone else, I'd just pass.
Top SPF Moisturizer 5
nnff from Moreno Valley
I just finished my bottle of this moisturizer. I bought the smaller size in store, not only did it last a long time but it worked wonder for me. My skin looked extra dewy and it looked great under my foundation. I have combination, acne prone skin (my skin has cleared when I was using this). It didn't make me break out. If you don't like glossy/shiny skin you won't like it. But I'm definitely repurchasing this product.
*NOT brown skin friendly, heavy white cream* 2
Britt from San Francisco
It's a cute little face sunscreen but the product itself is heavy white cream that will make you look like ghost face. A bit tough to blend in completely, if you're looking for a daily moisturizer that's light & has sunscreen in it definitely skip this.
More Like Sunscreen Than Moisturizer 3
sleatmc from Michigan
For me, this product isn't the best. I have found that the SPF gives the moisturizer a white tint, which is evident when applied, and it takes a while to soak into my skin and disappear. I had previously purchased a bottle of hyaluronic acid, so I add that to Anthelios moisturizer so that it goes on smoother and blends better. Now that we are getting into the colder months, I will switch back to my Toleriane Ultra Moisturizing day and night creams, they both are the best I've tried for dry skin.
Great for fair skin tones 5
Tara from Portland, OR
I am a very fair skinned person so this sunscreen leaves no cast on me. I do feel like this is pretty moisturizing and does not leave my eye area feeling dry (or actually dry) and tight after a few hours of wear - others mineral sunscreens did and it drove me crazy. I already have dry eyes, dry skin, and wear contacts. It does have the feel of a sunscreen in the hands and when applying, but after it's rubbed in it feels light and comfortable. Being SPF 30 (instead of 40 or 50, which I would prefer but hate the heavy feel) probably helps with that light feeling. It is not the most shiny but there is some shine. I powder some areas to avoid too much shine depending on what I'm doing that day - if I'm wearing a mask most the day I do not bother with powder. After you apply and let it sit for about 10 minutes it looks very much like just healthy skin. I took a selfie in terrible lighting at work and it looked veryyyy shiny, then I took a selfie in better natural light at home by a window and it looked much better, not obviously shiny, just like skin.

Horrible product 3
stephiessss from new jersey
since LA roche- posay will not post my comment on their own website because I'm sure, at the least, their embarrassed. But as someone who works in retail I value customers. And unlike LA Roche-Posay I value what customers should know about their products. AND THIS SPECIFIC PRODUCT IS
HORRIBLE! I URGE YOU DO NOT BUY!! This is one of the absolute worst products ever! If I could i would give this product a 0 star rating because it doesn't deserve more than that. I'm a white female with very sensitive skin! And I SERIOUSLY urge all women even if you don't have sensitive to NOT BUY THIS! It gave me an allergic reaction where the skin below my eyes felt like someone lit a match on my face because of the immense burning sensation, my eyes were swollen very very badly and it took me 8 days to fully recover. WORST PRODUCT EVER! I only bought it bc of all the recalls on other sunscreens that I would normally buy, and I've used face wash by this brand and did not have a seriously awful reaction like I did with this product. And I'M NEVER buying any product from this brand again, la Roche posay completely let me down and left me feeling they can't be trusted.
Sun screen 3
Good stuff from Norfolk,Va
Not a fan. Just my opinion. I am not a fan of sun screens, period. Others who use them on a regular. Might really enjoy it. It didn't damage my skin at all. Just will not use and wasted my money.
I quite liked it. 4

I quite liked it. It went on well, didn't feel too oily or clumpy, and I definitely used it a lot. I don't think it made me break out, but I know it can make other people break out occasionally. Got it free.

This lotion is incredibly thick and leaves a white residue. I don't throw products away because I don't like them so I used the whole bottle before leaving a review. When I threw the bottle away I was excited and immediately replaced it with another product.

I wanted to switch to a chemical free sunscreen but was hesitant because they always are heavy and tacky and leave a white cast. This one was suppossed to be a good one, but they seem to have all those qualities. Still on the search for a good safe sunscreen.

I always have the hardest time finding the right facial sunscreen. However, this product is my new favorite choice - very lightweight, moisturizing and does not leave a white trace on my face.
I have a love 3

I have a love and hate relationship with this product. It can sometimes leave a white cast because of the spf. However it is a really good spf for every day use. You just have to be cautious that it might leave you looking a little white.
Didn't work for me 3

DIdn't work for me! started breaking out on the second day I haver very sensitive skin. Leaves a white layer on your face even if you just apply a little bit. I have used this brand products before and I have never break out as bad as right now :(;
chalky 3

It provides great coverage and sun protection but leaves a chalky white matte finish on skin
Best used in humid climates 3
Alyssa from Honolulu, HI
When used in humidity, the sunscreen is not drying. Although it may not be as effective if you tend to sweat on your face. In dry climates, the HA is very drying for me

Best spf I've ever used, plus it's moisturizing. I use dr. Jart tiger grass cream, then layer it with this before applying my makeup. I let it sit for 20 minutes before putting on any foundation because it does leave a white cast initially. But it does go away. This one never irritates my sensitive skin. Never causes breakouts or anything like that and isn't greasy feeling like many others I've tried. Overall, I love it and will continue to use it.
