Most Helpful Positive Review Pleasantly surprised! This is a really nice ridge filling base coat. I usually use the Get Even ridge filler from Zoya, but wanted to try something new, and was really pleasantly surprised! It goes on very smoothly and evenly, works well with all of the nail polish brands I've worn it with, and really helps to smooth out the look of the my nails. It does have a bit of a tacky texture -not it a bad way, I actually think it helps the polish I place on top adhere, but I just wanted to mention it! Highly recommend, a very nice product from a vegan and cruelty free company :)
Most Helpful Critical Review Like but not love because it's a "peely" Sets the color very quickly and holds nicely for the most part. Very easy to work with, especially for a novice home nail do-er like myself. However this base coat is more like a "peel" style base coat rather than long lasting. In only 2-3 days, the entire nail polish color will peel up and flake off in one piece. If that's what you're looking for, awesome! But I wasn't so I won't buy this one again.

I've been using it consistently for weeks now, and it has definitely made my nails very brittle and dry, causing them to break very easily. I've never had this happen with other base coats, so it's a disappointment because I really love the idea behind this brand.

I don't think this helped maintain my polish better, it chipped as much if not more than usual. My nails have also been more brittle than usual lately but I'm not sure if it's necessarily because of this. On the plus side it is quite smooth to use and looks shiny, but I feel like it's already getting a little clumpy after only a few months of owning it. Wouldn't repurchase which is a shame because I like that ella+mila seem quite ethical, but honestly I think there has to be a better base coat out there.

Really nice base coat that is thick enough, but not goopy. It dries quickly and self-levels to create a perfect base. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is the brush cap keeps slipping off leaving the brush in the bottle. It is easy enough to fix, but slightly irritating when I go to repaint my nails.
I am looking to purchase more from this brand in the future :)

This is great to fill in ridges. When I had professional mani pedi they always buffer my nails to smooth them out and I think it was weakening my nail beds. This does the trick of smoothing my nails without sacrificing my the thickness of my nails

Although fine as a normal base coat, I expected from the description that it would be a little more of a ridge filler. I also bought it in the duo pack base + topcoat and a separate base coat because I thought it was different than the base coat in the duo. Now I have an extra (duplicate) bottle that doesnt do what I had expected.

I took this base coat with me when I got a pedicure. Until I told her what it was, she could not tell a difference from other products. I love that I have the opportunity to use a chemical free base coat and still get my nails done safely. Yay ella+mila!

All About the Base is a very high quality product. It not only lays down a nice smooth coat, without showing any lines/fibers etc, but it really seems to be a very strong coat too. This past week I put on one coat of First Aid Kiss and then one coat of All About the Base, preparing for polish. I ended up not using polish and have been loving how my nails look and feel. Today I thought I'd add a coat of In a Rush to freshen up the shine and see how that is. If you haven't tried it yet, make sure you add it to your arsenal, you won't regret it! :)
