Redken Acidic Color Gloss Gloss-In-Mask; It's a Win-Win!!

I'm always looking for hair care products that boost hydration and shine without the weighing-down effects of silicone and heavy moisturizers that end up causing my hair to feel oily and dirty within a few hours of shampooing. It's become somewhat of a pipe dream. I'm always chasing the ever-elusiv...e rainbow of the perfect moisturizing /glossing product for my hair. I'm also searching for an anti -frizz product that doesn't end up leaving my hair and scalp a greasy mess. My hair is not damaged at all but it's slightly curly. I have just enough curl that any change in humidity can cause it to puff out in a halo of wily frizz. I don't like piling on product. Especially if I'm staying home and just want clean, shiny well-managed hair. Am I asking for too much? Probably. Add to these facts that my scalp actually trends towards being oily, I have found myself in quite a dilemma. Even while applying conditioners only to the ends of my hair, it always seems to somehow result in it working its way back to my scalp and causing it to be even greasier. Ugh. I'm not alone in this. I have many friends who speak of the same/similar problems. So far, hair care manufacturers have put out thousands of products that seem to fix one problem only to cause another. Speaking of thousands, I'm certain that I can say quite truthfully that I myself have spent the thousands of dollars on a fruitless search for the right products for my hair. I've purchased many products that claim to be one step, in the shower "glossing treatments". Every one-step glossing treatment I've ever tried has been a fail. Every one. Often, they have dried out my hair and actually damaged it. One even turned my hair "mud brown " and actually removed all the shine. A couple of them did nothing at all. On the whole, they have done the opposite of "gloss." They have resulted in causing my hair to actually look duller and not shiny at all! The only at-home glossing treatment that has worked for me has been the 2 step kind. The product that made my hair shine the most, is basically semi- permanent (NOT demi-permanent!) hair color kit that included a developer which aids the product in "filling in" all the imperfections in the hair shaft. This results in the hair shaft's ability to reflect light resulting in smooth glossy hair. Because of my experiences, I had come to believe that there's really no such thing as a one-step glossing treatment at all. I was a loyal customer of many Redken products over the years. For instance, I had used their Climatress leave-in conditioner since the 1980's. When Redken discontinued it, they basically lost me as a customer. Removing such a reliable and excellent product from their product line caused me to feel extremely fed-up and not heard as a customer. It was probably the cumulative effect of having many other brands that I had come to rely on be discontinued as well. So, when I heard about Redken's Acidic Color Gloss Gloss-In-Mask product I was truly ambivalent to try it. Being older, I have had the experience of having had many products that I've used and relied on for 40+ years suddenly and inexplicably removed from the market. What's the point in trying anything new if they're just going to change it or discontinue it in a few short years regardless of the outcry it causes among customers who use it? More and more, companies have made a habit of introducing new products then after a customer base is built up for that product, they either change the formula ruining it or remove it from the market altogether. Suffice it to say that I was pretty hesitant to try this product because of that. What if I really like it? I was afraid to take the plunge. At any rate, I eventually decided to take a chance. First, the instructions on the tube say to shake the product well; which I did... ALOT. I wanted to be certain that the product was adequately mixed to maximize the chances of it doing its job. I was in the shower and had just washed my hair with a clarifying shampoo, hoping with would aid in the Redken Acidic Color Gloss-In-Mask's ability to penetrate/coat the hair shaft resulting in it working more efficiently. I tipped my head forward so that I could squeeze the excess water out of my hair and better apply the glossing treatment. The first thing I noticed as I squeezed a small amount into my hand is that it smells AMAZING 😍! I realize that scents are very subjective but I just LOVE the clean smell of this stuff. WOW. I then gently massaged the white creamy conditioning gloss onto the ends of my hair. I carefully avoided applying any past the midpoint of my hair length to avoid my scalp. I used the Alexa in my bathroom to set a timer for exactly one minute then rinsed my hair thoroughly; keeping my head tipped forward the entire time to avoid getting the product on my neck or face etc. I rinsed for a long time to be sure I got the excess out of my hair. Even so, I could still feel the "softness" of the product still in my hair though it didn't feel oily or heavy. When I got out of the shower I followed my usual routine; blow-drying my hair followed by a light flat-iron - using it on 2 or 3 large areas (I mean grabbing a large bunch of hair rather than small sections) and just enough to calm the frizz from the dryer. The result was FABULOUS! Not only did the amazingly clean scent linger (which I really like). My hair was super-soft and shiny! I highly recommend Redken's Acidic Color Gloss Gloss-In-Mask!! It really works! It made my hair super shiny and manageable! It is an amazing, simple-to-use product that has the added benefit of leaving my hair smelling wonderful! I've already had several compliments both on how shiny my hair looks as well as the wonderful scent that lingers but is not overpowering at all. It's a perfect balance! Its a win-win!!
