Most Helpful Positive Review Silky, almost waxy consistency: Lasts I received a sample of this, after being an Urban Decay primer potion user. UD magnifies the pigment of shadow and clings to pigment making shadow very true to color, but I found it severely dried out my eyelid area. After sensitivity to UD made my eyelids PEEL and bleed, I tried Smashbox. This product goes on with a silky, almost waxy consistency and has significant staying power, but less so than UD (~6 hours for me). Very gentle on sensitive lids. No drying or creasing. However, I felt it was a pigment killer. Definitely requires intensely pigmented shadows and heavier hand in application (and I use UD and MAC shadows). Product went on clear/light, rather than the painted beige of UD. Worth the price for those with sensitive skin.
Most Helpful Critical Review Average product that did not keep shadow in tact Purchased this product only because my go to brand was out of stock....It was ok, not great. It definitely did not hold my shadow in place for 24hrs. I have oily eye lids, which is why I use primer. I found this product easy to apply and it did not cause any irritation (I am a contact lens wearer). It did not intensify the shades of my shadow at all, I wasn't looking for it to do so just stating that it didn't for those of you who like a primer that makes the shadow POP. It held fine, after initial application, but as the day went on you could almost see the primer losing the battle to the oil in my eye lids. It would start to melt. Melt is the best way I can describe the transformation....And as it would melt, it would clump on the outer edges of my eyes. By the end of my work day, I would have a clumpy, flakey mess on the outside of both eyes. Not to mention the creasing, but this (creasing) was the lesser of the 2 evils. I really didn't have any problem washing the product off, nor did it leave any redness etc after removal. A tube lasted me about 10 months - I used it just about every day. You only need a tiny bit, and it is easy to apply. Now that I have switched back to my go to brand, I notice that the Smashbox product made my eye lids a little dry. This is the 2nd primer from Smashbox that I have tried. While this product worked better than the face primer, I'm going to conclude that this line is simply not a good fit for me. Hopefully it works better for you than it has for me!

I have relatively oily eyelids and this is the only eyeshadow primer I've used that actually keeps my eyeshadow on all day. Like I'm talking a full 16 hours. I've tried others (Fenty and Rare) and they both crease after a couple hours. You really only need a small amount on each eye and it blends out super smoothly if you tap it in. Once it's tacky you can apply any kind of eye shadow, whether it's powder or cream, and it will last all day and stay true to color. The tube also lasts a long time! I've had mine probably close to 2 years and I'm just now getting to the end. Will definitely be re-buying again and again.

I've tried quite a few primers for my lids.. let's face it some of our makeup palettes are very expensive and having it crease is our worst nightmare.
This eyeshadow primer will prevent that!
It works like a dream and makes my colors pop. I will definitely be buying a second tube!
Must have!! 5

I've used this primer for many many years and it's the best. One of the must haves in my makeup bag!
Best eyeshadow primer I've ever used 5
Katie from NY
I've been using this primer for at least five years. Best there is out there. I apply a very small amount of it, let it dry down for a minute or two, then apply my shadow and it lasts all day long, even in the humid summer weather. Highly recommend.
Horrible! 3
MK from US
Got it as a sample and it just melted right into my eyes. My vision was blurry ALL DAY LONG. Threw it out, along with two pairs of perfectly good contact lenses. what a waste.
The Best! 5
Gardengal from Maryland
This is absolutely the best eyeshadow primer I have ever used! A little goes a long way and my eye makeup stays put all day. It also gives a nice smooth look and doesn't feel sticky or give my eyelids that crepe-y look that other primers do.
Best eye primer 5

55 y. Old and this eye primer makes eye shadows glide evenly and they stay all day.
My Go To Primer 5
SassyGran from Az.
Just a very small amount, warmed between my fingers and lightly blend onto lids only. Apply shadow. This product keeps shadow perfect all day without creasing. Be careful not to get it somewhere you don't want it, once it drys, you will need eye makeup remover to clean it up. I have used it around my lips, sparingly, to prevent bleeding of darker lipsticks. This works, but must be very careful not to get too much on. It takes a littl e effort but worth it.
Keeps Shadow in Place 5
AmaMom from TX
Works super well at keeping my eyeshadow on my eyes and not turning into a racoon. Keeps eyeshadow looking fresh (I frequently use sparkly eyeshadow).
The only down side I've noticed is it's difficult to wash your makeup off, but that's because it's meant to hold the makeup on even when sweating.

Out of 5 eye primers I've tested, I always go back to this one for smooth, even application, and creasless wear of shadows all day.

I never take time to write reviews, but decided to for this product. I have very sensitive skin including my eyelids. Primers always cause a rash with major itching. Until this fantastic product! It is soooooo great, no rash and my eyeshadow stays in place perfectly. I'm a personal trainer and sweat alot every day. I HIGHLY recommend Smashbox eyeshadow primer!

Are you over 55 and your eyelids are starting to droop? 5
Lori Ann from Omaha, NE
Over 55? Eyelids starting to droop a little? Eyeliner rubs off during the day? Get this stuff along with the Too Faced Better than Sex Easy Glide Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner. You will NOT be disappointed! I couldn't keep eyeliner on for more than half a day and these two last ALL day!!! My right eye is a little more 'droopier' than my left and it would rub off any eyeliner I had on. Not any more! I love those two products so much, I ask for them for Christmas and B-day gifts!! I tried other eyeliner with this and it just doesn't add up. These two products are meant for each other!!
It was okay… 3
KT from San Diego
I tried this out after a dear friend of mine recommended it to me. After several attempts at trying to make it work I just couldn't. My eyeshadow would crease every single time and it wouldn't dry down after 3 more attempts to make it work which was really odd. I ended up going back to my UD primer potion. Hopefully it works for the rest of you!
Would definitely buy this product again. 5
Jan from Wyandotte Michigan
This product is the best eyeshadow primer ever. I have tried others and this last all day.
Amazing staying power 5
Pmedic from Mooresburg, Tn, 37811
This is my go to primer, it holds up to the 24 hour claim! Im a paramedic who works 24 hour shifts and sometimes taking off your makeup isn't your cards.
Doesn't work! 3

i have very oily eyelids and although the consistency is super nice it doesn't keep my eyeshadow from creasing. it maybe lasts 2 hours max.
Absolutely the best! 5
Young Nana from Oxford NC
I normally do not write reviews but couldn't help my self on this one. This stuff is the best and lived up to what it promises. I'm in my 60's and we know stuff including your eyelids start to droop. The other product (won't name names) did not keep my eyeliner in place. Decided to try this and can't believe the difference. My eyeshadow and liner stay on all day! This stuff is worth every penny. Buy it!
Decent 4
Nilayy from Houston
This product in theory is really good. I find that it does make my eyeshadow last longer and it does increase the pigment. However, it does make it a bit harder to blend. While it doesn't make the shadow look patchy, you do have to work a bit more with the product. All in all I think it's worth it because the product does what it's supposed to do. You also only need a little dot so the small tube will last a while.
A Must Have 5
Michele My Belle from San Diego
This is the only product that keeps your eye make from smearing. It is a must have for your makeup routine. Dries quickly. Use sparingly. Product was originally recommended by Ulta associate several years ago and I am still using.
Can't believe it 5
Mel from Tx
It's so hard to find something that tames my oily eye lids and I try everything that is recommended and nothing ever works. I thought I'd tried this before but couldn't remember so I tried it and it actually works! I'm very excited to find a fix. Yay!
Good light coverage 5
S from Little Rock
I switched to this primer from Urban Decay. The primer is light weight, blends well, and doesn't affect the color of your shadow like the UD. It does the job of setting the eyeshadow without being too heavy or obvious. So glad I switched.
Yes! 5
Savvy from Ohio
Just, yes! I am a long time user of UD's Primer Potion, but opted to try something different, and OMG! Found a new fave! Goes on creamy (make sure you blend well, or you'll see whiteish streaks) and dries down to give your eyeshadow amazing staying power. As someone with combination skin, hooded eyes, and greasy eyelids, this stuff is holy grail! YOU NEED IT!
very good primer 4
fashion franny from Westchester county, ny
I used this primer to keep my eye shadow in place because I have a left lid that is very oily. It worked but not totally. My right eye was perfect, but the left eye still had some oil coming through. But so far the best eye shadow primer I have tried.
