Most Helpful Positive Review Be careful with shade selection
For context, I have combination skin and until somewhat recently rarely wore liquid foundation. I am a powder girl at heart but I'm branching out, especially in the last two months. I was sent the shade Soft Medium 11 which in the bottle appears too dark but is a decent shade match, if a hair too dark and yellow for this time of year. It will likely be a better fit once I spend more time outside again. The foundation is available in 30 shades and from the online swatches looks to be sorely lacking in the deep shades. They seem to have translated the shades from their original powder foundation, which unfortunately makes me less inclined to expect them to expand the range any time soon. It's also worth noting that I saw a lot of comments in the campaign that some of the warm shades pull quite orange.
BareMinerals claims this is light as air, blurring, with a natural luminous finish and medium buildable coverage. It also claims to be "clean" and reduce the look of pores and redness over time.
Let's start unpacking that last part first. Clean Beauty is a marketing term that means absolutely nothing. No ingredient is "dirty" and the formula and sustainability of sourcing are what matters - neither of which is taken into consideration in that kind of marketing. They also highlight the short ingredient list and being free from many supposedly bad ingredients. Let's remember this: Short of identifying specific allergens, the average consumer will not be able to actually understand the ingredient list fully. Everything interacts in complex ways and most of us are not chemists or cosmetic formulatiors. Let's not pretend we know better than the professionals. That said, they claim the peptides and prickly pear extract are what reduces redness and pore appearance over time. I'll never be able to confirm that because foundation goes on top of a solid skincare regimen and I don't look to makeup to deliver those benefits. I do appreciate the addition of SPF because while I use sunscreen every day, more is better.
Now to the more tangible aspects: I do agree that the coverage is around the medium level and is somewhat buildabe. It's definitely more coverage with a brush but personally I prefer the more natural look of applying with a sponge or brush and sponge combo, which gives me light to medium coverage. None of the methods of application I tried covered my blemishes fully. I've also found that like with most liquid foundation my skincare, primer (or lack thereof) and how I set it that day will make a huge difference in how much this settles in my pores. But I don't count that against it since I expect that. I do agree that this has a natural, slightly luminous finish, which is my preference. That's true especially as my oils start coming through and melding the foundation to look more skinlike. Finally, I have to praise the packaging. The twist up pump is both functional because it can be locked for travel (you know, some day we'll do that again) and there is no cap to lose, and it's honestly also just fun to twist. Sleek but functional is my ideal packaging description.
All in all, while I am unhappy with the marketing and the shade range, I do quite enjoy using this. It works really well for me. Which just means that it doesn't need that BS marketing because it can stand on its merit. With more shades, more people will be able to enjoy it too. If you do want to pick this up, be extra careful with your shade selection.
Most Helpful Critical Review Good for Light Coverage with SPF
I was pretty excited about receiving this product to review as I used to always buy foundation that had SPF in it, but got tired of dealing with how it always stung my eyes no matter what I did to try to stop that from happening. Back then, I made the switch to Bare Minerals powder foundation, and like it a lot. since then, though, I've wanted more coverage, so I found some liquid foundations I liked. Naturally, this product had my name all over it. The short review is: I liked it OK, but will probably stick to my other foundations for everyday wear and use this one when I'll be out in the sun for longer than half an hour.
The in-depth review:
They suggest this is a medium, buildable coverage. I would say it was a light to medium coverage, and I really wouldn't trust this for full coverage. The texture of this formula feels a little greasy, kind of like liquid sunscreen, which was not a plus for me, but also is not a deal breaker. I definitely had to use a finishing powder with it since I'm really not a far of the "dewy" look. The insert directions suggests using either your fingers or their Smoothing Face Brush to blend the product outward. Since I don't have their special brush I tried it with my fingers first. That was not great, so I then used a regular kabuki foundation brush to blend it out. I highly suggest a regular foundation brush. I would have to say that the color spectrum available is not really a pro. I received what I assume is their lightest shade (Fair 01), and it was a little darker than I would like. However, I think it will be just fine for Summer Me. Which, I suppose that works out perfectly since I'll be saving this to use for summer outings. But I don't imagine people paler than me would be so lucky. I don't know about the darker side of the spectrum....The SPF aspect of it was a big win insofar as my eyes didn't sting at all! I can't necessarily attest to how well it protected me from the sun, though, as I don't go out much now just like most people, since COVID. I also can't review if or how the product helps with redness or imperfections over time, as I didn't really use it long enough to tell (since I found I preferred my previous products). I do really appreciate the clean formula in this product and really hope to see more companies take this route! Also, I really liked the packaging and the twist pump. It isn't necessarily something that would make me buy or not but the product, but it's a nice touch. So, overall, I was happy with the product, and I will use it when summer comes around. However, I'm not sure if I'll repurchase it in the future.
PS Don't judge my sleepy morning face in the half-and-half picture!

This foundation is way to pricy for the quality.

I never leave reviews. I love this foundation so much! Very lightweight, don't need much to put on your face. I use primer, use a sponge to put it on my face, then set with some setting powder. I don't get why all the negative reviews! I love this stuff so much
Glowing fresh skin
Mills from Chicago IL
I purchase color neutral medium 15 (could use a lighter color)and its a little bit yellow tone but I will make it work.Maybe it could be my summer color for now I use a color adjuster or make sure its blended all the way down my neck.Since I have already return my first bottle since of was too dark reddish tone.let me tell you I love it its glowing skin and my skin looks fresh and uniform,my redness is covered and is foundation is not heavy,it kind of reminds me of Loreal True Match foundation which is amazing but in a vegan clean.Since I am going clean and cruelty free I will for sure purchase again.my skin looks so good and fresh.I would use a primer thou.
Sarahj31 from Ohio
I use Laura Mercier blurring primer, so primer isn't the issue. It has a great feel on the skin, light coverage...it just settles into lines and wrinkles. My Estée Lauder and IT never does. Going back to the store.
Lackluster shade range
Sks from NY
I've used bareminerals powders for years, and was excited for this liquid foundation. I use a medium neutral color in basically everything (even their powder), but this neutral medium was so orange! It looked awful. I went back and tried matching to a different shade, but none of them worked. They skew too yellow and orange. I didn't have performance issues like others described, it blended fine and wasn't cakey or streaky. The shades just don't work for me. I hope they can tweak this formula, and create a better shade range in the future.

Use it daily. Evened out any skin tone issues.

This is a beautiful, skin like foundation with light buildable coverage. I usually wear a full coverage foundation and a powder to get the look I want but lately I have just been using this foundation with a setting powder. The consistency is amazing! Its almost like a hybrid between a foundation and a tinted moisturizer. My skin is combo/ oily and this stays on me all day at work...even with my mask! I use a brush some days but other days when I want more light coverage, I just use my fingers. I've never had a foundation look so good yet and versatile. Highly recommend. I am share fairly light and I am pretty pale but it matches me perfectly. Not yellow at all.
Fair 01 is not the same
Julia from AL
I have purchased bare minerals for years and always used Fair 01. This time the shade was significantly darker than I've ever used. I'm not sure if it was mislabeled or if they changed the colors. Unfortunately it's unusable for me.
Nice even all day cocerage

Way too dark

I love the concept of mineral sunscreen in my foundation! But, alas, this shade is way too dark. I'm fair and neutral, so this seemed like it should be perfect for me. Bummed

I cannot express how much I love this foundation, probably my new favorite. It gives you a light to medium coverage, builds me which is what I love. I have super dry skin to it makes my skin look dewy which is great. Not too expensive, would definitely recommend to people!
flaking and unbendable
kay from washington
I recently tried the this foundation (medium beige12) with Base Tape as my primer and I didn't like it. fist of all the coverage was meh, then I tried to build it up, and it did build up but it restarted to get weird granny texture. I tried to blend it with my beauty blender and nothing. Finally I decided to let it dry and try to blend again and it started to flake on the most terrible way I had to wash it off.

I like how this product has SPF 20, which gives some sun protection. The bottle itself is nice, it has a great pump system that collapses nicely for travel. The foundation itself is creamy so a little goes a long way. It is a little bit oily, which is something I didn't like. It also is sheer and I was hoping for more of a full coverage.
sarahr213 from undisclosed
I've only worn this a handful of times and while I like that it is light coverage and buildable, I noticed it made my face very oily after only a few hours. The way you twist the cap and the pump comes out is very cool. Overall good product but I don't think I would purchase myself.

I loved how this foundation goes on my skin, I have always struggled with trying to find a foundation that doesn't cling to imperfections in my skin. There was something a little off about the shade though and I'm not quite sure what it was, the tint might have been a little too orange but it wasn't extremely noticeable or anything! I also really like the packaging and how the bottle twists down to close
New Go To!
KLittle from California
I received this in a Vox Box, and was super skeptical after seeing some of my favorite influencers not enjoy this foundation. But it was love at first use. It's lightweight, but with a solid medium coverage that blended seamlessly into my dry skin. It left a satin finish, and I am finding that it lasts well on the skin (though I rarely have problems with makeup shifting on my space). It plays well with my skincare and other makeup, and helps conceal my mild rosacea without causing irritation. This has quickly become my new go to, and I will purchase at full price once this bottle runs out. The one thing to note is that the shades don't seem to align with the shades in the original powder foundation. So select your shade anew if you opt to try this.

Didn't work for me! It didn't blend and I was so flaky from it. So bumbed.
Feels Great on skin, but not loving the orange tin
christiep6772 from undisclosed
Overall, I like the feeling it leaves on my skin. Doesn't feel Camry or thick. Very natural feeling. The only negative to it that I also found out from others, it has an orange hue. If it wasn't so orangey, it would be perfect!
Wish they used their other foundation shades
Sarah J from Cupertino
I like this foundation. It's a little difficult to apply but the BarePro is too so I excepted that going in. It has nice medium coverage and doesn't feel heavy on the skin. I have a normal to dry skin type and it works for me. I've use it with Dermablend poreless matte primer and it stayed all day.
My biggest con is the color range and shades. I was disappointed by the lack of a large shade range and that they didn't use the same shades as their other liquid foundation. With the BarePro, sandalwood is my perfect shade, but I got neutral medium in this one and it just feels a bit off.
Nice finish but not long wear
samanthao94e9 from undisclosed
This foundation had a beautiful finish and felt nice on the skin. I applied the foundation just like any other foundation I've ever used before and it was great. However, after just an hour at work while wearing a mask the entire mouth and nose area had transferred onto the mask. I do usually experience some transfer but not nearly to the extent that I experienced from this. I would recommend this foundation if you are planning on wearing it for a short period of time or not wearing a mask. It was light weight and had great coverage.
Not what I expected: shade and pump weren't great
Michelle from Texas from Texas
I wish they would use the same shade name between their foundation products. I tried selecting the same shade range based on their recommendation but it was WAY off. I selected Soft Medium 11 for a neutral tone but this was an orange/peachy shade. Plus the pump is horrible and made a mess over the counter. I'm returning this.
Love the coverage!

I really like this foundation mainly because it doesnt feel heavy on your skin and is full coverage! I wore this foundation for a whole day and it didnt budge.

This was a great product. It had great coverage on this! I loved the color comparison on my skin. Speaking of skin, this felt great on my face; not heavy at all. I would recommend this product to others.

Let me tell you it's amazing. I'm not one to wear foundation often but this formula is so light and airy. It's comfortable to wear all day and I don't feel like my face is caked on with it. I plan to buy it once mine runs out!
