Most Helpful Positive Review Not bad! I was pleasantly surprised by this. I got the free samples in the mail for both this (the conditioner) as well as the no-poo and I loved both. Never have I ever been able to use a sample size of any product (no matter how big) and get results even half as good as what I got from two small 2-oz samples of these. My hair looked as if I'd used the normal amount (globs and globs) of my old conditioner (DevaCare One Condition) and yet I'd only been able to use the small sample amount. My hair was soft, very defined and bouncy, and the style was able to be preserved for the next couple of days until I completely ran out. The only downside is the smell, which was disappointing compared to the scents of the other two Deva lines.
Most Helpful Critical Review Ultra Moisturizing Condition that caused drastic Shedding I fell in love with Deva Curl Decadence and their coconut styler. I loved how it made my hair super soft and feel super clean. It felt very lightweight and smelled great. I can't get over how smooth and silky it made my hair. However, After 3.5 months of using it I have lost a substantial amount of hair changing nothing else in my day to day routine. I do not comb my hair as often with this product line and I am experiencing the most shedding I have from any product I have ever tried. Its quite alarming and sadly I will be returning their No-poo and One Condition today. I thought maybe the shedding was only due to switching to the method but it has continued. Has anyone else had similar experiences.

I am Caucasian with 3a curls. I have been using Deva products since the beginning, when there was DevaCare and DevaCurl. For many years, my hair looked and felt great, and I got lots of compliments. I started out with One Condition Original, and then when they changed formulas it didn't seem like it conditioner enough so I switched to Decadence. Over the past few years my hair started feeling very dry, almost like straw. It was at its driest when I was using Decadence. I switched back to One Condition Original, and my hair was less dry after that but still dry. In the past year I started experimenting with other products, and my hair is so much healthier now, even when I'm using much cheaper products you can get at a drugstore or using products with silicone. My hair is much softer and easier to manage now, and it looks just as good as it did with Deva or close enough at least. It's easier to pull it back or put it up because it's not so dry and stiff. I still have some of my Deva products left, and when I use them my hair feels dry again. I will never buy Deva again.
Better then what I expected 5

I wasn't expecting to love this as much as I did. It was well worth it. My hair is thin and curly/wavy, but his product literally makes it silky and smooth.
Enjoying it so far 4

I enjoy the scent of this conditioner as wells as that it moisturizes and detangles my hair. I little goes a long way so the price is worth it as it will last a long time. I received this complementary for testing purposes.

After shampooing, conditioning is smooth and it's a great product for soft curls with air drying. It's a very good conditioner that provides shine and softness.
I love this product 5

I love this product. I just wish sometimes that they would go on sale. The bottles look too similar. Between the cleanser and the conditioner it's hard to figure out which one is which.
I will not buy any of these products again. 1

Do your research- since stopping all products, and now cutting over 6 inches, my hair is finally healing.
Worst. Ever 1

Will make your hair fall OUT. Horrific exp with this product. It used to be so amazing. It's so sad- this even affected my kids hair. We had to lose INCHES of hair plus left with much thinner hair that has a much looser curl pattern.
It's all true 1

I decided I would make the complete switch to deva curl around 5 months ago. WOST DECISION EVER! A week later the news came out on the product being horrible for your hair and I started seeing a difference in my hair, it became flatter and dryer but my hair didn't fall out. Even if the product was good for your hair the conditioner is super thin and I like mine thick so this for sure isn't for me. PLEASE DON'T BUY THIS!!!

The Devacurl products will I repeat will damage your hair. Did not have any benefits towards my hair except excessive dry scalp, and splits ends. Some say they experienced loss of hair.
If I could give this conditioner zero stars I would 1

Now, as far as the controversy of Devacurl products making your hair fall out, I cant necessarily say that's true or false in my experience... but i've only been using this conditioner for about two weeks now and all I can say is THE WORST product I have ever put on my hair. EVER!! My hair is SO DRY after using this, my curls are basically not existent, just dry frizzy fluff and once again soooo dry. I am stopping using this as of today so I can only imagine the results of the damage it will do if I were to continue using this long term. I don't know if its just me and my hair doesn't agree with the ingredients but i've literally never had this bad of an outcome on my hair from anything I have ever used. Whatever is in this conditioner is terrible for curls please just take everyone's word for it and do not buy this. Something is definitely not right with the ingredients. I'm hoping by changing my products and doing deep conditioning treatments I'll be able to revive my hair because I haven't used it very long. WE'LL SEE!
If you care about your curls, DO NOT BUY THIS. 1

I've used DevaCurl products on and off for years but just started using this product this past Summer and have since stopped since January. My hair has varied curl patterns (like all of us pretty much) and is 3A on the majority of my head, but has some straight parts on the very bottom layer at the back of my head. I was working so hard to improve my overall curl pattern and thought this was the answer. While using this, in combination with the corresponding Decadence Shampoo, my curl pattern continued to deteriorate, I lost more and more shine to the point where it looked totally flat and full, noticed my frizz was out of control even with day 1 hair, noticed it was constantly dry despite all my efforts, had so much hair coming out in the shower, which I thought was normal at the time for curls, and noticed more and more thinning. My hair has never been super thick, and it's always been very fine, despite having curls, so I've had no way to hide the growing spot on the back of my head. Please DO NOT BUY THIS. It's HIGHLY likely your hair will suffer from it.

I used DevaCurl products for a few years, they caused hair loss and scalp irritation. Do your research. Do NOT PURCHASE!

I agree with the last comments. I do not understand how this product is still being sold. I have used DevaCurl on both my kids for over a year. I used to scold my daughter for over brushing her hair. The amount of hair loss was crazy but I never thought to attribute it to the products. Both my kids said that large amount hair would literally come off on their hands while shampooing/conditioning. Thank goodness my kids have a lot of curly hair. It's definitely not as thick as before but hopefully that will change with time. If it wasn't for my daughter finding stories regarding girls losing their hair with use of this product, I would still be using it. If your thinking about it purchasing this product...don't!!
Damaging, do not buy 1

If you haven't used this product or brand yet, please don't start now. It is not worth the risk of damages to your hair and skin many of us have experienced while using recently manufactured Devacurl products. I have been using Devacurl almost exclusively for 2+ years; always purchased from Ulta. I LOVED this conditioner. No heat, no bleach, no color, silk pillowcase, microfiber towels, etc level of hair care for years. Within the past few months, I started to notice increasingly bad changes to my scalp and hair. Why is my curl pattern only lasting 1/4th the time between washes? Why do I feel itchy? Is this acne or a rash on my hairline? Why does my hair look frizzy while wet and it never did before? If you're asking yourself any of these questions while using this product, you are one of the thousands reporting such side effects. I stopped using all Devacurl products; within 48 hrs what I thought was acne that wouldn't go away for almost 2 months was cleared up and I haven't felt itchy since. Absolutely, do not recommend.
SEVERE HAIR LOSS! 1
Kryz from PHOENIX AZ
Started using this product and loved the way it was "thick & creamy" BUT within 3 uses my daughter and I were losing hair by the handfuls! My daughters hair was also turning into one large dred like clump! Our hair is now so thin and brittle and my hair stylist is just as devastated as we are! DO NOT USE IF YOU HAVE THICK CURLY HAIR!! Such a huge disappointment! And completely lost as to where to begin to repair such damage!!
deceiving!! 3

switched to this after trying no poo and losing handfuls of hair in the shower, so I thought this was a good product at first because I stopped losing as much hair, and it didnt give me the greasiness no poo did. but my curls over time got frizzier and the greasiness did reappear. my hair became straw dry. beware!! my hair became impossible to comb through and looked frizzy while wet!!
I had to stop or I would've lost all my hair!! 1

I can't tell people to stop using a product or not to buy something. All I can review is what happened to me and my daughter. Approximately in 2019, this thinned out our hair (my daughter had a lot of hair), and it actually ruined our curls. So I cannot, in good conscience, recommend it to anyone.

Great for styling too. Adds moisture to your hair on days that you don't shampoo
WORST. PRODUCT. EVER. 1
Elva from Seattle
This product made my hair extra oily and get an excessive amount of dandruff! My head hasn't stop itching since I started using it :( it's getting really annoying. I have more than 3/4 of the bottle but I may have to throw it out now. It was a serious waste of my money. I usually don't say anything negative about a brand but this seriously made my scalp extremely irritated and I'm extremely upset. My hair lost it shine and my curls only last about a day.

I used to have gorgeous hair but it has been thinning. I have bald stops now, constantly itchy scalp & my curl pattern is terrible & completely different than 2 years prior. I've been using DevaCurl since 2014 and I will never let the stuff touch my hair again

I now have a bald spot from using these products since August of this past year. I thought my shedding was normal until I really began to notice how my hairline was thinning out. My scalp was also becoming inflamed with scaly patches that would begin to bleed. I'm trying to repair my scalp and promote regrowth of my bald spot with the Curlsmith's scalp care line. Fingers crossed.
