Was trying it for the first time. Box reads, "100% gray coverage" The colour did NOT last more than one shampoo in some areas, or two shampoos in other spots. The colour is nice but it does NOT LAST ! Very disappointing. I ended up having to go to a salon after all.

Comments about Garnier Olia Brilliant Color:

I have used this product three times and I love it. I used to get my hair done professionally which costed hundreds of dollars. The darkest brown shade gets me the same color and lasts equally as long. If you are careful with washing it it can last up to two months. Never dried out my hair and it has a natural fade out as well. Never looks unnatural. Great product. I am now a permanent buyer of this product.

              • Q:

Hello, my natural hair color is a light brown and I dyed it using the darkest brown shade and let my roots grow out about an inch and then decided to lighten it up a bit and got highlights at a salon which were too light so he darkened them so that my highlights are a medium brown against my darkest brown hair, but the hair where the highlights were and where my roots have come in are an orangish/reddish color and I would like to darken those colors/make that reddish tone not as noticeable. Is it safe to do with one of your colors and should I cover my whole head in the dye or just the roots and where the reddish tones are and what would you recommend?

                  A:

Hi Alex! If any of your hair is pale blonde from your previous highlights, it is possible that you will need a tint back formula to add the pigment back into your hair to prevent any discoloration. If the highlights are not pale, white, and you would like to match your darkest brown lengths and ends, you could try the 3.0 in our Olia! If you would like personalized haircolor advice, please call us at 1-800-442-7643 and provide the reference #03845228. We look forward to assisting you further!

Hi Gris! Thank you for your interest in our Olia Haircolor. You can use this product on your natural hair. However, it is important to keep in mind that Haircolor can only lighten natural hair two levels or shades. If your hair is black, we recommend not choosing a shade lighter than a Medium Brown. We hope this helps!

Hi, my natural hair color is a light ash brown. I had my hair highlighted with blonde in May and July this year. I then had it died a red color like 3 weeks ago. I now want to dye it to a medium brownish or coffee brown color and try to let it grow out with out damaging it. My hair is thin. Can I use this hair color or what do you recommend from the line and will it look brown? my red is like fading with lighter areas where it use to be blonde. it looks red fading hair. thanks

                  A:

Hi there! If your hair was highlighted to a very pale blonde, it is possible that you need a tint back formula to add the pigment back into your hair to keep it from fading so quickly and discoloring. If your goal is a medium brown, we recommend tinting back to a neutral medium brown level. This will neutralize the red color and give you an all-over medium brown. Hi there! A Dark Brown shade would be our 4.0 in the Olia. This is a neutral, and will not have any added gold or red tones. If you would like one shade darker, you can try our 3.0 Darkest Brown which is also a neutral.

Hi! You are safe to re-color your hair darker as long as there are no areas of your hair that are pale or white blonde. If they are that light you will have to do a color correction to avoid breakage or discoloration. Hope this helps!

                1 answer

                • Brand Expert

                  A:

Lightening dark brown hair is a bit of a challenge. Most hair dyes, like the Olia shades, can lighten natural hair up to 2 shades lighter than the natural color. For dark brown hair, the lightest it can go with a shade of Olia is light neutral brown 6.03. To go lighter than a light brown and into a darker blonde shade, we recommend using the Nutrisse Ultra Color in the shade ultra light cool blonde LB1.
Another option is to lighten the hair to a light brown and put in some highlights with a separate highlighting kit.

                  A:

Hi there! Since your hair is light brown naturally and Olia doesn't contain ammonia it will not be able to lift your hair to a blonde so it won't match the bottom half of your hair. Hello Marie! It depends on how dark your natural brown hair is. If your natural color is closer to an auburn I would not suggest the Dark Blonde shade. We would recommend the Light Brown to start out. Make sure to perform a strand before applying it all over your hair as well. This will be able to show you if it will bring out the brassy tones in your hair or not. We hope this information is helpful!
