Comments about Garnier Olia Brilliant Color:

I have been using this hair dye for 5 years now, and I love the color of it. I have naturally light brown hair (leaning more towards the thicker side) and use this to make it darker. If you have medium to long hair like me you should buy 2 boxes in order to get the best result. But the product itself is an easy 3 step process, and the dye doesn't smell too bad (just your average hair dye smell), and the color lasts me around 2 months. The color is true to the box, and allows for some of my natural highlights to still come through so my hair still looks natural and not too one dimensional.

I use this on my mom's hair. She has really bad allergies and this is the only brand that doesn't make her break out in huge hives. She has very thick coarse hair and lots of gray hair with some salt and pepper in the back. It covers all her grays it looks very natural and Conditions her hair. I wouldn't suggest using it on someone with dark hair probably won't cover that well but if you have grays it has great coverage .

            Not thank you

            By Mack

            from California

Comments about Garnier Olia Brilliant Color:

I have used Olia twice, and both times was severely disappointed. The most recent was with their new Medium Rose Blonde color. Well it conditioned my hair while coloring, like it said it does, but that was it. Absolutely no color tranfered to my hair. It should've turned a really pretty rose blonde color, instead it was just my previously colored hair and natural color roots. This product is nothing more than a conditioning treatment pretending to be a hair color. Don't waste your money. In fact stay away from Garnier hair color all together. Their hair care (shampoos, conditioners, hairspray etc) line is great, but their hair color sucks.

Hi there! Haircolor cannot lighten previous color, it can only lighten natural. If you would like to move to a lighter shade, be sure your previous color has significantly faded before using a lighter shade. We suggest shampooing often with a shampoo not for color-treated hair to help fade your darker color. We hope this helps!

Hi Gris! Thank you for your interest in our Olia Haircolor. You can use this product on your natural hair. However, it is important to keep in mind that Haircolor can only lighten natural hair two levels or shades. If your hair is black, we recommend not choosing a shade lighter than a Medium Brown. We hope this helps!

Can I use this hair color or what do you recommend from the line and will it look brown? my red is like fading with lighter areas where it use to be blonde. it looks red fading hair. thanks

                      A:

Hi there! If your hair was highlighted to a very pale blonde, it is possible that you need a tint back formula to add the pigment back into your hair to keep it from fading so quickly and discoloring. If your goal is a medium brown, we recommend tinting back to a neutral medium brown level. This will neutralize the red color and give you an all-over medium brown. I loved loved loved the color and it covered up my highlights wonderfully. I have washed my hair twice wince with a color safe sulfate free shampoo and the color has completely washed out and I can see my highlights again. Hi Julia!
The color will fade, and quickly, when it's applied to highlighted hair. When the hair has been bleached/highlighted, it has been stripped of the natural pigment in the hair. You may want to have a filler done at a salon, so that your highlighted hair will maintain the color. Or our recommendation is, to add 1/2 the tint/colorant of #6.43, Light Natural Auburn, to all of the #6.0, Light Brown, mixture and apply to all the hair for 30 minutes. Making sure all the highlighted areas are completely saturated. This is a one time application to fill in the bleached areas. We hope this information is helpful.

Hi! You are safe to re-color your hair darker as long as there are no areas of your hair that are pale or white blonde. If they are that light you will have to do a color correction to avoid breakage or discoloration. Hope this helps!

                      A:

Lightening dark brown hair is a bit of a challenge. Most hair dyes, like the Olia shades, can lighten natural hair up to 2 shades lighter than the natural color. For dark brown hair, the lightest it can go with a shade of Olia is light neutral brown 6.03. To go lighter than a light brown and into a darker blonde shade, we recommend using the Nutrisse Ultra Color in the shade ultra light cool blonde LB1.
Another option is to lighten the hair to a light brown and put in some highlights with a separate highlighting kit.
