Most Helpful Positive Review This product works better than any face wash I've
My skin was always bouncing between being too oily or too dry. I tried so many different face washes and moisturizers but my skin either remained the same or got worse. Eventually, someone told me about this oil-free wash. I tried it, and after only a few days, I saw a HUGE improvement. I would recommend this product to anyone who breaks out daily.
Most Helpful Critical Review Not pleased!
I've never had a problem with acne before, rarely even had a pimple until this summer. 20 years old and all of a sudden developed acne. Worst thing ever! I never even wanna leave my house and I hate all the make up I have to pile on every day. Anyway my moms always trusted neutrogena so have I, so I found this product did some research and apparently it was really good. Well not for me. I've used it for months now and it makes my skin horribly dry even tho I moisturize like crazy and has not helped with my acne AT ALL maybe even makes it worse. Not a good product for my skin what so ever I'm sadden over this it's just too bad! Not happy!!!!!

I have only been using this product for only 3 days, and my face is completely burnt. I am of a darker complexion and my face is red, itchy, and severely dry. I do not recommend to anybody.
NO NO NO

I definitely don't recommend this product. It's very harsh on skin and causes super dry skin, flushing and swelling. I only used it for 3 days and I regret it...

This face wash helps me heal my break outs. It takes off all my make up and my mascara easily. It is a smooth wash. I have tried other throughout the years but I go back to this face wash for my daily face wash
My face feels like it is on fire!
KMJ1 from Anaheim, CA
I bought this product because I noticed I was getting a few blackheads around my chin, cheeks and nose. I wish I had done some research prior to purchasing and using this product. The first time I used it, I started to feel like my face was sunburnt. My skin tingled a bit and started to feel stiff when I made facial expressions. But I didn't really think much of it and went to bed. When I woke up the next morning my face felt horrible. 3 days later (after only using it that one time) It feels as though bugs are crawling under my skin. It's such a weird sensation. When I touch my face it hurts, and feels as though the skin is both bumpy and scale-y. My cheeks are blotchy and red, while my forehead has started to flake off skin! I tried to put moisturizer on my face and it just stings - so I'm just splashing cold water on it every few hours for relief. I really don't know what to do at this point to fix my face. Will be returning this product ASAP.
Do not buy this!

I bought this for my teenage son but ended up using it myself due to some breakouts The first time I used it, my skin felt dry afterwards. The second time I used it, it has left my skin dry, red, peeling and burning. Glad I used it before my son did!!!! I wouldn't recommend this to anyone!
Dry, itchy, and tight skin!
Renee from Texas
Due to the bad weather in Texas, I was snowed in recently and I didn't have my usual cleanser with me. I decided to use this because it was one of the few face washes available for me to use where I'm staying. Let me just say, this product ruined my skin. I used it once on Friday night, then I used it once yesterday (Saturday) morning. By last night, my face was already starting to feel a little dry. Luckily, I was able to use my normal cleanser last night. I woke up this morning and my face felt pretty dry and was a little itchy. I put my normal moisturizer on, and my face felt a little better at first. I kept having to add additional moisturizer to my face because it just felt SO dry. It's now the evening and not only is my face super dry, red, and itchy, but the texture of my skin is so rough. I haven't had this issue since I used a Garnier face wash back in December of 2018. I will NEVER use this face wash again. It literally wrecked my skin.
Dried out my skin
Bri from Buffalo
Tried to save some money from my usual routine. Got this because of some better online reviews. It just dried out my skin, made it flaky, and my skin completely broke out. I used it for month hoping at first it was just that purge phase but it never ended just got worse and after returning to my previous products it started to clear up.
It burned dry my skin
Ana93 from Brooklyn
I have a very oily skin, and I bought this whole bundle of cleanser, face scrub, toner, moisturiser, and cleansing wipes. Started using it, in the third day my chin started to burn so bad and the skin got crusty and started peeling so I stopped using everything the next day and it's being a week since I stopped using it and now my skin is a little better. Never using any neutrogena product again. So disappointed cause I spent a some money on it and it's all wasted in this horrible experience.
It's great, but I can understand the dislike
Aliah from undisclosed
I've been using this wash for about a month or too. I think it washes pretty well and clears my skin, although it did take a while for my skin to get used to the salicylic acid. It has been helping my skin clear up, but it's not the best. But it also works well for mild acne though. Just don't use if you have very dry or sensitive skin, but other than that it works pretty well to reduce comedones.
Terrible reaction - don't buy this

I randomly decided I wanted to try a new cleanser. I've done Accutane 2 time about 4 years ago for cystic acne, and have since only gotten the occasional pimple. Now that I wear a mask everyday at work, I've been getting more acne around my chin and jaw line. I normally just use Cereve foaming cleanser, which is very gentle and works well. With the increasing breakouts, I wanted something with an acne medication like salicylic acid, so I decided to give it a try. The first night I used it, I woke up and my skin felt pretty good. It even looked a little more clear. Day 2 was fine, a little dryness. I woke up the next morning and went to work. As the day went on, my cheeks felt hot and a little itchy. Next thing I know, my entire face was broken out in a rash that would not go away. Red, painful and bumpy. Tiny whiteheads everywhere. I tried cold compress, Benadryl, hydrocortisone cream, moisturizer, calamine lotion, etc. over the course of 3 days. It just got worse. Now, day 4, it is finally drying up. Still extremely dry and flakey, but the bumps have gone down. Worst reaction I have ever had to a product. Or so I thought. Until I remembered about 4 years when I used Neutrogena pink grapefruit wash with the EXACT same reaction, only slightly more mild that time. These products need to be taken off the shelves. After reading reviews of both this cleanser, and the grapefruit one, I don't know why it would even still be sold in stores. Do not bother using this product. Stick to cetaphil or cereve. I will never make that mistake again. If I could give zero stars, I would.
I have dry skin and chemical burns

I bought this 2 days ago and used it twice. After the first use my face felt a little dry but nothing bad, but I used it before I went to bed and woke up with my face swollen and dry. This was especially bad at my eyes, they are now so dark and swollen and dry that I look 20 years older. Even with that my skin burns and itches. I have no clue what to do next but I will not use this product again.

Disappointed in Neutrogena, my skin was loving the Redness Reducing Cream Cleanser until Neutrogena discontinued it. My skin has been broken out since then and I haven't had luck with this product or any others in their skin care line since.. bring back the cream redness reducing formula

I rarely ever leave reviews but this product is horrible! I decided to switch face washes to try and help with oil and acne and this is the WORST face wash I have ever used! My skin is so dry and my face is literally burning! This is only my second time trying it! I wouldn't recommend this for my worst energy!
RUINED MY FACE

I only used this product for 3 days. This face wash stripped my face of oils so bad that it caused a severe break out of eczema that has lasted for an entire WEEK. My face burns, is cracking off and red. DON'T BUY THIS.
Dry itchy red patchy skin
kdmcgee22 from Gaithersburg, MD
I ran out of my Cetaphil cleanser. I bought some of this because a friend of mine in college swore by it. I rarely have pimples. I have some blackheads and whiteheads though. The first few days were OK. I have sensitive skin and I now have itchy red dry patches all over my face. It feels like sandpaper. My skin was not like this before. I have put tons of expensive creams on my face and nothing is helping.
Dried my skin out so bad!
marianinel from Nashville, NC
I bought this about a week ago and it helped with my breakouts some. I noticed I didn't get as many whiteheads as I usually do. BUT, after about 3 days I noticed my face was extremely dry especially around my eyes and mouth area. The skin around my mouth has been flaking. I've been moisturizing my entire face but every lotion I have tried so far makes it burn and has been painful.
Fan of this cleanser's original gel
RachelHoosier from Georgia
This cleanser works fine but the original formula (and pink grapefruit) clear formula works much better. Not a trace of acne with the gel wash or scrub. Still have small forehead acne bumps that won't go away with the cream cleanser. I recommend this for those who felt the oil free acne wash in a pump was too drying; you will like this. I will keep this around but also purchase the original oil free acne wash for my forehead and breakout area.
BURNED MY SKIN & made it peel

I bought this 2 weeks ago, I've been using it for about a week now, I've been noticing by my lips on each side it is completely Burned and flakey ! Especially around my nose. FEELS LIKE A BAD sunburn!!! I would not recommend this at all!!!
My face is burning!
JenMar4 from New Jersey
I wish I read all of the horrible reviews before I bought this face wash. I have used other salicylic acid face washes for years, but I have been breaking out from wearing a mask and my usual face wash wasn't helping, so I decided to try a new one. Well after only using this face wash 3 times, my face feels tight, is burning, and super itchy. I haven't used it in almost 24 hours and now I'm icing my face because my cheeks are swelling! I have NEVER had a reaction like this with any other product. I do not recommend this to anyone. I threw mine away!
My skin is so clear!

I started using this products about 2 years ago when my acne started getting super duper out of control. Ever since I started using it, I noticed results within a week. Now, this is the only face wash I'll ever use!
Ive used this product for 10 yrs

I don't think product like this are meant to tackle acne specially if it's severe, that being said if you get some pimples or black heads on the face this does a great job at getting rid of them and preventing them. I always use this product with a small towel to gently exfoliate the face and get rid of any excess skin, I use it once a day usually at night in the morning I use a gentle hydrating wash.
Harsh and irritating
lilyc456 from Toronto, Canada
I have used this product 3 times total and each time, it seems to strip the natural oils from my skin, leaving it feeling tight, red, and slightly rough to the touch. It seems quite harsh and I am not going to use it anymore as it seems to be disrupting my skin's moisture barrier.
