Most Helpful Positive Review The only Curl Product I trust
The Diva Curl No-Poo Product I have been using for over 5 years and is the ONLY product that is able to touch these delicate curls, I am a professional dancer and love to Whip my hair around, the Diva products are the best at keeping and maintaining the curls even with sweat/rain/ to redry... The no-poo product I only use once a week but I use the conditioner daily to de-tangle sleep tangles through the night. I have VERY tight blonde ringlets and when using the No-poo I rinse thoroughly and then run the conditioner through root to tip, I do not rinse the conditioner all the way as it is its own leave in product as well... I shake excess water off and let air dry and my curls look AMAZING through the day of office work all the way to my late night dancing.
Most Helpful Critical Review Understanding ingredients is everything!
Having actually looked up all of the ingredients in this product I can tell you that yes it is a gentle cleanser for your hair. It is however a cleanser, understanding this is paramount.
It is basically a 2 in 1 shampoo/conditioner hybrid(this isn't necessarily good or bad, but you can customize more when you buy them separately). It has the surfactants required to remove excess oils from your hair. It will not lather because lather requires certain additives. (Lather is not required to cleanse hair!)
My professional opinion on the care of curly hair is this: Cleanse your hair less often, shampoo once every 3 days. When not shampooing rinse with hot water (not too hot). This will loosen the oils slightly and rinse away particulates that are caught. It will also allow the oils on your scalp to move closer to the ends (where it is badly needed! Especially in drier climates) You curly folk don't tend to do a lot of brushing, especially at the scalp, so the oils aren't getting to the ends as they would with regular brushing.
*No company can make a product better than your own natural oils. When purchasing shampoo, do your homework! Hair is dead from the moment it is created, so no matter how much people talk about hair health, there is no such thing! Once damaged, or split, it will not mend. However, most people just have dry hair. This can be remedied!
If you have severely dry hair, go to a salon and consult with a professional, there are products unavailable to unlicensed folk that can really help. If you can afford it I highly recommend Aveda salon's for their moisture treatments! It is what I use! And, no, you cannot purchase them to take home! Look for an Aveda institute if you're on a budget. Good luck all!

I bought this product a year ago and still have not recovered from the hair loss. It was making me loose curl pattern and started losing my hairline. I just joined the Facebook group- DevaCurl hair loss and they are facing big time with this lawsuit.
my daughter loved but..
lisa from wilmington nc
my daughter loved this when we ordered other deva curl products and it came as a free gift however she just opened this bottle and it smells strongly like nail polish remover. she said it always does, is it supposed to smell like nail polish remover? is it safe to use?
Jenna from Kent,Washington
I bought the little bottle to try it out and thank god I didnt buy a big bottle. This made my hair so dry and my scalp itched so bad. It did nothing for my curls. It made my hair straightened out instead of holding my curls. Worst products I ever used.
Do not recommend if you wanna keep your hair
Evey from Arizona
I have used so many devacurl products. I haven't changed anything else in my life other than using these products because they were recommended to me by my curls specialist. After using for 6-9 months my hair started to get so dry and looked a hot mess. My hair seemed like it was thinning and not as lush and bouncy as it was before I started to use their products. If you wanna keep your curls don't use them. Bounce curl is around the same price and is better for your hair.
I have bought this product for the last 2 years

I have used No Poo and One Conditioner Delight for over 2 years. My hair has never been in better condition. No hair loss, no scalp issues and no issues at all. When I ran out of No Poo I combined the conditioner with Low Poo until I could restock.
hailey from alaska
I used the low-poo for a few years but since this last winter was so cold and dry my skin and scalp turned into a dry flaky mess. I decided to try out the no-poo to see if it could help moisturize my scalp a bit better than the low-poo and it sure did! my scalp feels MUCH better and my hair feels clean without being completely stripped. I know that people have been claiming to have bad experiences with Devacurl lately but that has not been my experience at ALL. They have been very upfront and honest about their testing and I will continue to trust and support them.
I lost my hair!
Leonila from DE
Google the fact that women are losing their hair because of DEVA CURL products. I used these products for a year and my hair started getting brittle, my scalp got constantly irritated, and I began losing my hair!
One of the worst I've tried!
Morgan from Memphis
I'm not sure if it's a combo of the no-poo shampoo and the decadence conditioner, or one or the other, but this set has been AWFUL for my hair. It's dry and frizzy and tangles instantaneously, and my scalp is itchy, irritated, and breaking out! Did some research and apparently this is an ongoing complaint with Devacurl products. I'll go back to something far cheaper and far better for my hair.
DON'T BUY! HAIR LOSS

Fay from ohio
I've been using this for years and I just noticed how much thinner my hair has gotten. This made me lose so much hair. Whenever i would wash my hair, it would fall out in clumps. 10/10 do NOT recommend.
Don't buy from this line!
faith from 3/29/20
I started using this when my salon teamed up with devacurl's team to incorporate their products in our product line. I used this for a couple of months and noticed I don't have nearly as much curl, if even at all anymore. My hair is naturally thick and curly/wavy. I threw everything out once I saw what it was doing to my hair and also found out around that time that devacurl has been dealing with lawsuits over people claiming the same thing. Save your curls and find something else please.

All the devacurl products have made me lose my hair. I have bald spots at 25. They aren't taking accountability. Disgusting. Save yourself and don't take your chances.

Finally found something that does wonders for my hair!!!! I have 3c hair and this is the best thing that's happened to my hair. I've been using all the devacurl products for about 3 months now and my hair keeps getting better!!! You have learn how to use the products and it'll work wonders for your hair. The bottles tells you exactly how to use them. Best thing I've tried. I'm finally embracing my coily curls!!!
Don't buy this product if you want to keep your curls

this product has been proven to cause dandruff and to make curl patterns loosen. Not only that but also to cause extreme frizz and hair loss. I have this product and i've noticed every negative side effect, the people giving good reviews have not been using it long enough to see the effects

This product needs to be recalled! Ruined my curls & this company is ignoring their customers blaming us for ruining our hair, losing hair, and having irritating scalp issues. Please stay clear from their horrible product and their whole line if you love your curls.
I WOULD NEVER BUY THIS AGAIN
DONEDEVA from NC
I would never recommend this product to a friend. Go check out the "think dirty app" the devacurl line is rated an 8/10 for toxic chemicals!!!!!!!!!! This brand is trash and I wish I would've never spent money on this shampoo line that caused my scalp to be flaky, irritated, and full of sebum. My scalp burns!!!!!! My hair is dry and dull. I'm so upset about my long beautiful locks. I'm going to have to have a major haircut now due to using this line for 4 months!!!!! Please believe my warning!!!! I've cried so much after finding out it was the DevaCurl products I put in my hair that did this!!!!
Used for years until they changed their ingredients
RMK020104 from NJ
I've been a loyal user for 8 years, using everything from no poo conditioning cleanser to the mousse, gel, hair towel. I even get my hair cut at a devacurl salon.
I've experienced hair density loss, scalp irritation and hair breakage for the last couple years. I've gone to the dermatologist, I've taken hair skin and nails vitamins, Viviscal. I stopped dying my hair. I've doing hair masks and stopped completely using heat tools and nothing is working.
Come to find out - DevaCurl was sold to Avel in 2018 to prepare for their sell to Henkel. They changed 2 ingredients that are harmful. Cause hair loss, scalp pain, hair dryness, curl pattern damage.

Frizzy thin hair thanks to Deva curl from Michigan
I used to have beautiful curls and the Deva Curl line destroyed my hair. These products should not be allowed to be sold. Caused so much damage to my hair.
I love it!! I will buy it again!

I use it twice a week. Don't have to use it more.
Overall just a bad experience
Vanessa from Oregon
I made the mistake of splurging and getting the biggest size of the no poo and the conditioner. As well as the biggest size ultra defining gel. I can say the conditioner was not bad in my opinion just don't use a lot. But as for this no poo... it didn't work. The build up it caused because was disgusting. Other Q & A's mention this and devacurl reps say use it with friction. It doesn't work. It caused a lot of hair loss and a lot of annoying bumps throughout my head that scabbed. To be honest my kids L'Oréal paraben free shampoo worked better than this! I was exclusively using this line of products only to be so disappointed. The low poo was a bit better but ended up doing the same thing over time. Also yes I have tried rinsing thoroughly, no I don't apply products close to the scalp!
Now all my devacurl products are sitting in a cabinet incase there's a recall. Other than taking up storage they serve me no purpose. So far curl Smith has almost instantly shown improvement thank god!
Wow, so this is the reason my hair is falling out....
Appa Mama from Santa Ana, CA
I purchased the no poo couple months ago and have been using nothing but no poo. I started noticed that the clump of hair get bigger EVERY TIME I washed my hair. After massage this into my scalp, I'll use my fingers to run my hair from root to end. Both of my palms would be FULL of my own hair!!! I have never experienced that much hair loss even after I had my kids. It was gradually more and more, until it got to the point that I started to feel my pony tail has become about 2/3 or 1/2 of what I had before. And it is scary. I thought it's because I color my hair more frequently now (was about every 2 month, it's a bit over 1 month for awhile) Then I read about a YouTuber cutting ties with Devacurl and found out about her post.
I've never suspected it was the shampoo that's causing all the hair loss. But thinking back about the time when I switched, it's about right. Not sure if I'll get a refund after using about 1/3 of the big bottle, but if you're thinking about buying, DON'T!! Unless you're trying very hard to thin out your hair. I had lots of hair to begin with, I can't imagine if someone with thinner hair, what would happen!
Not Worth Your Time (Or Money!)

Please do a simple Google search of the current controversy and legal action surrounding this product and avoid it at all costs. As a loyal Ulta costumer, I recently had the most pleasant and empathetic experience at one of their stores exchanging my used DevaCurl products (Decadence No Poo, conditioner, leave in conditioner, and Supercream) for other salon brand products that have stood the test of time and wouldn't cause my hair to fall out. After almost a year of using Devacurl, which felt great at first, I've recently noticed a lot of shedding and hair thinning-- so much so that I visited a physician about autoimmune concerns, of which I have none. But after recently seeing the stories of men and women losing their curl patterns and damaging their follicles with Devacurl products, I quickly shifted to alternatives. I know it is hard to find good curly and coil-textured hair products, but I would not recommend spending money (and a lot of it!) on a product under such question. You are running the risk of damaging your own hair over time, and it's not worth it. I'm currently using Paul Mitchell's Tea Tree Lavender Mint Moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, which is working great. I am pairing it with the occasional use of Shea Moisture's Manuka Honey and Yogurt deep conditioner, which is also amazing. And there's a lot more out there to try for way less money and way less damage!
DEVA CURL MADE MY MOM'S HAIR FALL OUT
julia d. from Massachusetts
My mom has been using this product along with the conditioner and some styling products for years now. For some unknown reason, her hair has been falling out in clumps as seen in the attached photo. We never found the root of this problem until she stopped using these products. Her hair has been coming back thicker and healthier, so the problem was definitely these deva curl products. I definitely will never be using these again after what it's done for my mom and would never wish this upon anyone!!!!!!
Dangerous product, negligent company
Michelle from Tyler Texas
I used several products from this company including this one and had scabs on my red itchy scalp plus loss of hair. I have no allergies that I know of and have never had a problem like this before. I looked it up and found that this brand has a class action lawsuit against them because their product is causing hair damage and loss along with severe scalp irritation. I called customer service and they said all complaints must be handled through email. It's been over 3 weeks since I've emailed them and it was ignored. I tried to leave a bad review on their website and they filtered it. There are hundreds of testimonials from other women online with the same problems. There are also tons of news articles. See for yourself. I switched to Curlsmith brand. It's all natural and vegan and I'm very happy.
