Most Helpful Positive Review The only Curl Product I trust
The Diva Curl No-Poo Product I have been using for over 5 years and is the ONLY product that is able to touch these delicate curls, I am a professional dancer and love to Whip my hair around, the Diva products are the best at keeping and maintaining the curls even with sweat/rain/ to redry... The no-poo product I only use once a week but I use the conditioner daily to de-tangle sleep tangles through the night. I have VERY tight blonde ringlets and when using the No-poo I rinse thoroughly and then run the conditioner through root to tip, I do not rinse the conditioner all the way as it is its own leave in product as well... I shake excess water off and let air dry and my curls look AMAZING through the day of office work all the way to my late night dancing.
Most Helpful Critical Review Understanding ingredients is everything!
Having actually looked up all of the ingredients in this product I can tell you that yes it is a gentle cleanser for your hair. It is however a cleanser, understanding this is paramount.
It is basically a 2 in 1 shampoo/conditioner hybrid(this isn't necessarily good or bad, but you can customize more when you buy them separately). It has the surfactants required to remove excess oils from your hair. It will not lather because lather requires certain additives. (Lather is not required to cleanse hair!)
My professional opinion on the care of curly hair is this: Cleanse your hair less often, shampoo once every 3 days. When not shampooing rinse with hot water (not too hot). This will loosen the oils slightly and rinse away particulates that are caught. It will also allow the oils on your scalp to move closer to the ends (where it is badly needed! Especially in drier climates) You curly folk don't tend to do a lot of brushing, especially at the scalp, so the oils aren't getting to the ends as they would with regular brushing.
*No company can make a product better than your own natural oils. When purchasing shampoo, do your homework! Hair is dead from the moment it is created, so no matter how much people talk about hair health, there is no such thing! Once damaged, or split, it will not mend. However, most people just have dry hair. This can be remedied!
If you have severely dry hair, go to a salon and consult with a professional, there are products unavailable to unlicensed folk that can really help. If you can afford it I highly recommend Aveda salon's for their moisture treatments! It is what I use! And, no, you cannot purchase them to take home! Look for an Aveda institute if you're on a budget. Good luck all!

The pump was broken when I received it which makes it difficult to use. Without the pump a lot gets wasted.

The fragrance has been changed and I don't like it.
My hair loves this product
Margie from El paso tx
I always use this product and I'm in love with how beautiful my hair looks after I dry it !
The only complaint I have is the smell i am already used to it but a fruity scent would be nice or maybe no scent at all... but other than that I really like this product.
Always Original Deva!
Kathleen the Natural from Rock Hill, SC
Best shampoo on the market for curly hair of all types. Shampoos out my dreadlocks and saves my hair! Does not flake off your scalp or hair strands if you don't rinse well. I follow the Original No-Poo (shampoo) with Original Deva Conditioner. Can't beat the two-some.
Love devacurl products

Love this product! Changed my hair after one wash! The smell isn't a bad one but for sure something you have to get use to!
I keep buying this product!

If you love your hair don't buy this "shampoo"
Everything a girl needs in one bottle for curly hair.

Love the smell & texture of my hair after it has dried out. Makes my curls more define.
Polly from California
I used to love this entire brand. Used nothing but Devacurl on my hair. And for a while my hair was the best it had every been. Great shiny curl definition, sadly as everyone else has mentioned there formulas are no longer the same. The brand was sold, which why I believe they changed there ingredients. This will make your hair thin and frizzy. Save your money and do not purchase any items from Devacurl.
Have been using this for 15 years at least
TT from NY
I have been using this line for at least 15 years. I have spiral curls but my hair has a very fine texture.I need a lot of moisture but can't use anything with a lot of oil. I LOVE the entire product line and nothing makes my hair look as good. Perfect curls, no frizz. I prefer the original line and love the scent of that line. I see a lot of negative reviews and I'm baffled. I've used the products without any negative side effects and for soooo long. This line does NOT have a lot of oil in the ingredients and that may be an issue for people whose individual strands are thicker or course. For me, I need something like this bc my strands are fine and average thickness. Can't recommend it enough.
would buy again

This product smells great and good for individuals who don't want soap suds.
Beth from Western Colorado
I decided to try this even after reading the bad reviews because a lot of times I have different results than other people. After all, we are all different and have different hair types. I loved the texture and the way it cleaned and rinsed. However, just like the other reviews, my hair started becoming thinner and thinner, and I noticed a lot of it coming out. So this is going back. For reference, I have fine, thinning, color treated hair (but a lot of it), a mixture of 2a/2b/2c waves and curls, and I live in a dry climate. I don't recommend this product though.
MESSED UP MY HAIR
Brooklyn from San Jose, CA
I have been following this brand for years always wanting to buy it, and I finally ordered. I used it for about two months and I noticed a lot more of my hair coming out, and the way my curls sat were loose and not holding the curl shape. I started researching it more to see if anyone had these problems too. Sadly yes it's a terrible problem leading to their lawsuit. I beg you stay away from this brand!
Devacurl Made Me Finally Like My Hair
Suzanne Mom of Three from Maryland
After 49 years, I finally like my hair! Before, my hair was thick and the waves were just annoying. Now, I finally have more defined waves and curls. Using Devacurl No-Poo Original Zero Lather Conditioning Cleanser made me realize that having "good" hair is just a matter of finding the right products.
Long Term Damage- I loved DevaCurl, too!! don't be fooled!!!
Jenna from Los Angeles, CA
BEWARE of DevaCurl's ENTIRE LINE!! I have curly/wavy hair. After years of frizz and poor definition, I found DevaCurl when I was in high school. I immediately loved it. I had very little frizz, and my curls had never been so defined. I exclusively used DevaCurl no-poo, conditioner, and various styling cremes for 4 to 5 years before I realized that my hair was not as beautiful as it had been when I started. My hair was increasingly damaged and frizzy, and my curl definition was seriously lacking. That's when I saw online that people had been experiencing serious damage after exclusively using DevaCurl as I had been. I decided to take a break, and low and behold, my hair quality started to improve. I spent a little while experimenting with other products, and everytime I came back to DevaCurl, my hair got worse. It has been YEARS and my hair is still recovering. My curl pattern is extremely inconsistent, and the inside of layers of my hair are EXTREMELY brittle and frizzy. I have no doubt that DevaCurl is the cause. I'm still trying to find the right products to bring my hair back to it's former glory. DevaCurl is extremely appealing at first, but I'm one of many who have experienced long term damage. Proceed with caution!!
Not worth it.
Graciemay from Florida
After hearing all the hype I decided to try, the first two weeks my hair was great! Lots of curls and volume. Then all the sudden my hair and scalp were super oily (and I have a very dry scalp and hair). Then I heard how it makes people's hair fallout and so I stopped using. Now my hair is back to being moisturized but not oily so it was the devacurl cleanser for sure.
DO NOT BUY
Kelsey from MT
I used DevaCurl religiously 6 years ago for several years but switched to experiment. I decided to go back to DevaCurl recently, but after 2 weeks of use noticed my curls had gone from spirals to waves, my hair was flat, I was losing a TON of hair, and my scalp itched like crazy. I spoke with my hairstylist and it turns out I'm not alone in my experience!

This will cause ur hair to fall out I don't care what other people are saying it will
DO NOT BUY THIS
sday2020 from salt lake city
DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT! I'm so upset. I am late to the party in hearing that this product ruins your curl. After using this product my hair has become frizzy and has lost its tight curl definition. Save yourself the money and buy something else. If you're like me and are late to the game in learning about the problems with this product. YouTube it. I wish I'd known. I wish ULTA would stop selling this product.
DO NOT BUY CAUSES SEVERE HAIR LOSS
esme8915 from Texas
I bought this product a year ago and still have not recovered from the hair loss. It was making me loose curl pattern and started losing my hairline. I just joined the Facebook group- DevaCurl hair loss and they are facing big time with this lawsuit.
my daughter loved but..
lisa from wilmington nc
my daughter loved this when we ordered other deva curl products and it came as a free gift however she just opened this bottle and it smells strongly like nail polish remover. she said it always does, is it supposed to smell like nail polish remover? is it safe to use?
Jenna from Kent,Washington
I bought the little bottle to try it out and thank god I didnt buy a big bottle. This made my hair so dry and my scalp itched so bad. It did nothing for my curls. It made my hair straightened out instead of holding my curls. Worst products I ever used.
Do not recommend if you wanna keep your hair
Evey from Arizona
I have used so many devacurl products. I haven't changed anything else in my life other than using these products because they were recommended to me by my curls specialist. After using for 6-9 months my hair started to get so dry and looked a hot mess. My hair seemed like it was thinning and not as lush and bouncy as it was before I started to use their products. If you wanna keep your curls don't use them. Bounce curl is around the same price and is better for your hair.
