Comments about Clairol Nice 'n Easy Permanent Hair Color:

I used this in my teens and tried it again about 6 months ago. The fragrance is different from any other box dye because it smells floral. My boyfriend made a comment about it smelling good, usually when I use color he complains about the smell. I followed the enclosed instructions and my hair color matched that of the box when it was dry. This product is very conditioning compared with other box color kits that make my head itch and burn my scalp leaving scabs. I didn't have any of those issues! My hair looks healthier and shinier after using this. I love it. I've used it 3 times total in the past 6 months. My hair is very long and thick and I only need 1 box to color all of my hair. I've had no negative issues at all. I love this new formula and am impressed with the improvements. No other color kit smells this good and works this well without irritating my scalp. I would recommend this product for a natural color and also for lightening hair prior to coloring with a vibrant color like purple, blue, pink, etc.

Several things have been happening since i started using the New Nice& Easy. First, my hair has been falling out ,my hair is also now very dry, and the color is so off...much darker than the color on the box. The old Nice & Easy was much better than this new product!

Ever since I started using the Nice and Easy, I noticed significant hair loss. My shower drain would get clogged up every time I washed my hair due to so much hair failing out. My hair has progressively gotten thinner and thinner over the last 2-4 months. I've used about 3 boxes of this stuff and will stop immediately!

I've used Nice N Easy since 1998. It always looked natural and was easy to use. This new one looks very unnatural, it's a pain to use. Whose brilliant idea was it to struggle with squeezing thick product into the bottle instead of just easily pouring it? The color is awful. It isn't auburn. It's orange red. Now I'm going to have to find another dye. You've destroyed what was a great product. Thanks a lot.

Comments about Clairol Nice 'n Easy Permanent Hair Color:

I've used 112 Dark Auburn for years. Just tried the new version 4R. Still easy to use and smells fine. However, when my hair dried I was really surprised at how dark it was. I thought it was me until I read other reviews and saw the same thing. My hair almost looked black EXCEPT for the gray roots. They were the reddish brown that the rest of my hair always was with the old version. I washed my hair again a few days later thinking the color would lighten up, but no luck. Disappointed although I still like the product. May need to try the lighter version. Note to Clairol: suggest making something that will cover grays longer. Need to color every 3 weeks!

This has a very harsh smell that made my eyes water.. I was couldnt breath because my lungs couldn't handle it..If you use this please put Vaseline all around your hairline or else you will have the worst stained skin ever..I showered to rinse off and used skin oils trying to get the stains off but the stains wouldn't budge even the slightest.. so be warned about the staining and the strong ammonia smell!

I'm really enjoying the new formula. I really liked the old formula as well. This one doesn't have the strong smell usually associated with at-home hair dye. It really smells just like lilies. I also don't get the the scalp scabs (gross but real) and irritation I got with this brand, other brands, and salon jobs anymore. The only negative I've noticed is color seems to fade from out of gray hair faster. I don't think they are able to retain the new formula as long. I'm okay with the trade off though. Much less irritation, and no more at-home hair dye chemical smell.

Comments about Clairol Nice 'n Easy Permanent Hair Color:

I just wanted to add my 2 cents after seeing the negative reviews of the new formula. I have always been sensitive to the old PPD formulas and had to endure a painful scalp for days after dying. This formula did not have a powerful smell, did not burn my scalp at all, and covered my grays. The only complaints I have are that the color came out more reddish than I like and that it did stain the skin around my forehead more than normal. Nonetheless, I like this formula enough that I intend to use it again but will probably apply Vaseline to the skin around my hairline to try to prevent staining and follow up with a deposit only blue conditioner to keep the red down.

Hello! We have depleted our stock of original Nice 'n Easy. The new formula is a big upgrade on all steps of the process and combines all latest findings from Clairol in one product. Our new formula replaces PPD and PTD dye molecules with the new ME+ molecule, which significantly reduces the risk of developing a new allergy. Our new damage blocking technology helps to prevent damage on the hair and provide longer lasting color results. We've upgraded to a no-drip, cream formula that features conditioners at every step of the color process to alleviate the feeling of dry hair. We hope that you give it a try!

Hi there! This spring, our Clairol Nice 'n Easy has gone through a restage to new packaging. What you may be seeing is the discontinuation of old packaging. New boxes arrive in store this month and this brand will be carried in approximately 300 ULTA stores in 2018. Thank you for your loyalty to Clairol Nice 'n Easy!
