I'd use the highlight tool again but not the base color

Comments about L'Oréal Multi-Tonal Color System:

Item is 2-step dye. First step is a base coat, where you mix contents in a bottle, shake it, and apply to your hair. I was using the red hair kit on my hair that is already red and with minimal roots, with the intention of lightening the roots and also brightening the color at the top of my head (it was a bit darker at the top than it was at the bottom). It wasn't clear what color the base was. I read the box and instructions, and assumed it was a medium red. I was wrong. The base color ended up darkening my hair when my intention was to lighten it. There wasn't a lot of dye provided for the highlight portion, but it turned out that this is the color I'm after. I'd buy it again and only use the highlight part, but there isn't nearly enough to touch up my whole head with it.

Comments about L'Oréal Multi-Tonal Color System:

after too may stylists ruined my hair by using too much bleach to create highlights, i returned to using box hair color. this is one of the better ones and very natural. it is a two step process if you plan to add the highlights, so plan accordingly as it will take about an hour to an hour an hour and a half to color and highlight, but worth it.

I usually buy this product at the pharmacy but decided to order online because it's a
Bout the same price. The color is great and having highlights to add I like that! But the color it self does not last very long or maybe it's because I wash my hair every day.

I have used this product for a few years, and every time I do, people compliment me and ask me who my hairdresser is! I hate single, flat colors, and this product definitely gives multi layers of colors. In fact, when I redo my hair after a couple months, it adds even more layers of color!

I am trying to figure out
#1 - which color is the lightest blonde and does not have an ash base because I cannot use ash on my hair or it will turn grey/green & purple?
#2 Is there a chance that it will leave my hair brassy because most store bought products do?
#3 can I use foil or do I need to use foils for the highlights?

                  • Brand Expert

                    A:

HI sfvgal! Discoloration will only occur if the hair is very light or pale blonde when using an ash tone. We recommend a neutral or a golden tone if you have any pale sections. Brassy results occur based on what your natural haircolor is. Haircolor can only lift two shades above your natural hair color. without turning brassy. The highlights will be able to lift higher than two shades without brass. We do not recommend using foils with this product! It can lighten the hair too quickly when wrapped in foils and cause breakage. If you would like further guidance, please give us a call at 1-800-631-7358 and provide the reference number: 4139566

Hi Dee! Those numbers represent the undertones in the haircolor. For instance, a .1 means there is an Ash undertone while a .2 is more of an Iridescent undertone, and a .0 would mean it is a neutral shade. We hope this helps!

                • Q:

I have naturally medium brown hair that I've been getting colored at s salon for years. The color is a caramel brown with all over chunky light golden blonde highlights. Actually I've had this same color so often that it appears predominantly blonde except the top 2 or 3 inches where the Carmel color is and it's about 50/50 there. I am thinking of using ginger twist in this product. What I would like is coppery red hair with golden blonde highlights. Will this do the trick? I'm worried that the red will be too dark and the highlights won't be prominent enough. Also, a bit worried that the red might look a bit pink on my highlights. And tips/advice/suggestions??
