Most Helpful Positive Review Excellent Value
As a rule, I am not a fan of Cover Girl products. They just don't work well for my skin issues and their eye products have been 'meh' for me. However, I saw some really good reviews for this on YouTube and since I was almost out of my UD one, so I decided to give it a try. I was shocked that this primer is SO good. Don't let the formula fool you at first. It seems very thin compared to most primers and I was sure this wouldn't work. But I smoothed it on and waited a minute or two for it to set before applying my shadow. At the end of a 12 hour work day, my eye makeup still looked fresh and crisp. I've tired it with both high end shadows and drug store shadows and it works great! It doesn't make my lids feel fry as some other budget friendly primers have. This will be replacing my UD as my go to shadow primer!
Most Helpful Critical Review Not bad, but not great either
I'm kind of lost on the hype that this is getting. Please don't misunderstand, it does work and it gets the job done, shadows stay in place. I by no means hate it, I will gladly use up the tube I have.
I just don't understand why everyone is going nuts over it. It is an above average primer. It is a very tacky primer and you really do need to set it or you have the potential of ending up a patchy mess with your shadows. I suppose I'm not a big fan of the packaging, I don't like the wand, much in the same way I don't like the wand style UDPP switched to. I don't feel like there is very much product in the tube. It is entirely possible that is my perception, but it just doesn't feel like there is much there and I have to dip in a couple times to get the amount I like to use. I can see myself using this up very quickly. I do also find this will gather in my creases and I need to take extra care to pat them out for even application.
If you are looking for a tacky primer, this may be right up your alley. Like I said, it isn't bad my any stretch, in fact I feel it does better than UDPP and TFSI, but it also isn't mind blowing.

Honestly this is a great dupe for urban decay's eyeshadow primer. Get. IT!
why don't eye primers work for me

nothing against this product in general but I have dry eyelids and primers just never do the job
Amazing for a great price!

I recently bought this since my hooded eyes creased up my eyeshadow so badly and I'm glad I did. My eyeshadow now looks super smooth even after all day wearing it!

MY HOLY GRAIL!!
Cattaway from Greenville, SC
I ran out of my UD primer. Bought this because cruelty free now and I was in a hurry. After 12+ hours at work in healthcare, my shadow hasn't budged!!! Not one tiny crease. High end or drugstore brand - doesn't matter. I swear my mascara even wears better. I am stocking up. Please don't ever discontinue this!!
Why so sticky?
Stevia from Columbus, Ohio
As a makeup noob, maybe I'm unaware that this is the intended effect, but I have to say the sticky, tackiness of this primer is unpleasant. The eyeshadow stays but my eyelids felt glued together. I prefer a smooth primer that leaves my lids feeling soft.

I have hooded eyelids and this eliminated all creasing. I will never apply eye shadow without this again.
The best eyelid primer!
Dana the diva from Tulsa, OK
This eye primer works great! Does exactly what it is supposed to do. I have oily eyelids and this keeps everything in place all day. No greasy feeling. I have tried Urban Decay's eyelid primer. I did not like it at all. Immediately felt greast, I expected more from a high end brand.
Another Use for This
PatriciaD from North Carolina
I've actually purchased this product twice. However I've finally had to admit it's just too drying for my eyelids. Shadows go on smoothly and it definitely smooths the crinkles in my lids. But after awhile I feel the drying effect on my eyes. Not comfortable for me. HOWEVER, I have found it's GREAT to use on an oily nose under setting powder. Stops the break-through shine all day. Should be marketed for that purpose, is better than anything.

I put on a small amount and rubbed it into my eyelids lightly. Let it dry, and I cannot fun and of my makeup brushes over my eyelid now. It's not tacky, it's almost like it creates a rough texture the my brushes can't run over smoothly. So I can't blend and now my brushes that normally work amazingly and are super soft are hurting my eyelids when I try to blend !!
Definitely Locks your Lid.

This is a really good eyeshadow primer. As soon as i tried it ... I was likeee ... Switching my NYX TRANSLUCENT EYESHADOW PRIMER to this one. Its my new one to go to. As it states in its name LOCKS THE LID. I love it for my glitter, I like to apply my glitter right before the primer sets and it locks my glitter with no fall out all day I highly recommend you try this!
Good for the price !
Tasha P from long island
definitely paying a good price for what you're getting... isn't too light so make sure you use a little concealer to highlight the brow bone & make sure you blend it out quick cus it's dries quick ! Does what it says & keeps my eyeshadow locked tho !

I have used the Urban Decay Primer Potion for years but since I missed the 50% sale I decided to try one less expensive but still the same quality and to my surprise this one didn't disappoint. If anything this is it's match and I will definitely buy again!!! I highly recommend this to everyone.
It's good, but...

I will say that once you put your shadow on after this stuff, it doesn't budge. My only issue with this is that it makes darker shades harder to blend out for me than it normally would with a concealer, which is what I typically use
Jackieexl from New York
This item is magic, I usually use the urban decay primer potion but this item really does help your eyeshadow not budge and stay on for hrs! Recommend this 100% it's so much cheaper and better than a high end brand
Court from Georgia
This is just wonderful. Keeps shadow and glitter in place all day. Gives high end primers a run for their money.
Definitely buying again

UDPP, you have some serious competition!
GracieLou ND from North Dakota
I have incredibly oily skin and eyelids. I've been using UDPP (and other prestige brands) for at least 15 years now and haven't found anything that works better on me. I've noticed in the past 5 years that their formula seems to be thinner and doesn't have the lasting power that it used to have, so I was looking for something new. Enter Cover Girl Lid Lock Up Eyeshadow Primer. Not only is this a reasonably priced item (especially if it's on sale!), but it's less than half the cost of what I was using. First application was a bit too thick, so it creased on my eyelid before it had a chance to set well. The second time I used it, I tried the "less is more" approach and it worked like a charm. Tap it on over your eyelids and let it set/dry-down for a moment or two before applying shadow. I highly recommend using eyeshadow brushes for application because the shadow will apply easier and you won't wind up with over and underapplied, streaky application. It does have a bit of a learning curve to learn how to apply shadow over, but once you have it down, it's LOCKED. Normally, I would find my lids starting to look oily or starting to crease at the end of a work day. This past weekend, I had a party to go to after work and it was the first time I didn't have to touch up my eyeshadow before going out! It's not a holy grail for gals with oily skin...you will still get some slight fading and creasing at the end of a very long day/night, but this is hands down the best eyeshadow primer I have used in several years. Totally didn't see that coming, Cover Girl!
Kay from MI
This really works but feels weird kind of like residue. Don't put too much and use it only on the lid not above the lid, otherwise the colors won't blend. It does what it says though and for a great price.
No creasing for oily eyelids
Stephanie from Ohio
You don't need a lot for this to work. I have very oily eyelids and have tried MANY different primers, some cheap, some expensive. This has, by far, worked the best and is cheap! I usually have creasing within a few hours because my skin is very oily. I can go 8 to 12 hours without any creasing with this. Amazing!
Name is no joke!
E from Cleveland
Lid Lock is no joke! I have the world's most oily eyelids and eyeshadow is always a straight nightmare on me. It always slide straight off within 20 minutes of applying. I've been looking for an eye lid primer for a while and have tried a few to no avail. ENTER: lid lock. Literally does exactly what is says and it is literally like superglue for eyeshadow. Only complaint is that it tends to be a little too dry when used under cream/pencil shadows, so only apply it where you want is because it won't spread much. Couldn't be happier, I'll never use anything else!
My new go-to eyelid primer
townleyb73 from Memphis, TN
In my opinion, this works better than the expensive eyelid primers I've tried. My only small complaint is that occasionally product globs onto the applicator but you just wipe off what you don't need - not a big deal. Does the job - highly recommend!
It's tough, it works!

My eyes are terrible hard on eyeshadow. Without this, creases are filled by eyeshadow running by 10 a.m. This makes it all day til bedtime without my eyes being a mess!
Jillybean from Chicago, IL
My eyeshadow usually creases within an hour so I'm always on the hunt for a good eye primer. This stuff makes my eyeshadow last all day without any creases. I recommend setting it with a powder that's your skin tone because it can be a little sticky if not set or blended out completely.
Sammie Ali from California
SUPER sticky & doesn't blend my eyeshadow well. Eyeshadow just gets stuck
