Comments about e.l.f. Cosmetics Illuminating Palette:

I absolutely love this palette. The powders definitely give an illuminating, glow-from-within look; they are NOT - and aren't intended to be - super bright, strobey highlighters like you'd find in an ABH Glow Kit. I'm NW20 in MAC and I primarily use the yellowish/white and pinky shades. I'm not quite drawn to the taupey shade (although sometimes I mix it with the pink one), and I find the bronze shade to be a bit too orange for my taste. I sometimes use it to lightly bronze up my cheek bones before applying the other shades or another highlighter, but I use a very light hand with this shade in particular because of it's orange tone.

I'm giving this four stars instead of five because of the formula. I've been using the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light for nearly three years now and am about to purchase another as I've almost fully-panned it. I use it as a finishing powder now, but when I first started getting into makeup I used it as a highlighter because I prefer a more subtle highlight for everyday, which is why I was so drawn to this ELF Palette. The yellow/white shade in the ELF one is a shade dupe for Diffused Light. However, I find the formulas to be quite different. The ELF powders are much more powdery and have a ton of kick-up, and because they are quite pigmented it can be easy to go overboard and apply too much product and have it look like it's sitting on the face instead of being blended into the skin well. I do not have this issue with the Hourglass AL Powder as it more finely-milled. Despite this, for the price, overall performance, and the fact that I can build up the ELF Powders and easily blend them away some if I put on too much I think it's a incredible deal for $6 especially when comparing it to the price of the Hourglass ALPs.

I use the white as an undereye set and the medium two to set my face. (This hourglass powders) would never reccomend to use as a cheekbone highlight.

Comments about e.l.f. Cosmetics Illuminating Palette:

I own and love all of my elf palettes but this one leaves me a bit confused. I realize that the shimmer is subtle but I can't see it at all when applied. I've tried using brushes, sponges and my fingers but only the lightest shade has any noticeable shimmer to it. I decided to try using a wet eyeshadow brush and all of the shades became much more shimmery and were very pretty. I used my dewy setting spray but I think plain water would do just as well. I like this product but I knocked off 2 stars because of the difficulty in application. If this palette needs to be applied wet for any color/shimmer payoff, there should be instructions on the package stating this. I would only recommend this product if you don't mind using a wet brush which blends very differently from dry powder application.

I got this thinking it would be like their baked dome-shaped ones(I highly recommend), but it wasn't. It's very chalky. I only use them on my eyes now. 2 stars forhow cheap it is, but get the smaller one.

I use this awesome kit in conjunction with the Nyx contour kit. The colors are nicely pigmented, go on smoothly and do not settle in fine lines or cake. I can't believe this kit sells for only $6.00. It is as good as the Anastasia contour kit. Love it!

Comments about e.l.f. Cosmetics Illuminating Palette:

I've wanted the Anastasia or Hourglass highlighting palettes for a while, but there's no way I will pay that much money for it. I was so excited when I found this palette. I've never considered buying ELF palettes before but for the price I couldn't help but try it out. It's so beautiful and versatile, I use it for shadow as well as over the face. The colors give a beautiful, natural glow. They're very soft and easy to blend without looking chalky. I'm so glad I tried this! It's my new love, and easy to travel with, too.

Comments about e.l.f. Cosmetics Illuminating Palette:

It DOES have a lot of fallout/kickback in the pans, but it goes on GREAT and stays all day. You can mix colors and build up the intensity, but the bottom 2 shades are less bright and highlight-y, more like blush toppers almost.
