Most Helpful Positive Review Super saturated and soft but...
Bought two of these pencils for my kit. I love that they are so richly pigmented but there are a couple of things that have begun to irk me about them, particularly this color. 1. There is actual ?fall out? with this pencil. It sounds strange but its been happening. Not great when trying to get a client?s look done. 2. It is so soft that the point is gone after only a couple swipes. 3. You have to sharpen frequently and if you aren?t careful, the tip easily breaks off and you lose even more pencil.
I really do love the way they stay put and the depth of the colors. It loses a star (I would say a star ?? and a half, if I could) for the above issues.
Most Helpful Critical Review SO upset.
I have been buying the Via Veneto eye liner for 10 years now, and was never going to change. However, all the sudden Nars took away the twist and made it sharpenable.
The reason i loved this so much was because I DIDN'T have to sharpen it. The quality and the shape stayed exactly how I wanted until i was done with the liner. Sharpening this ruins the quality, and I am going through the liner so much faster than before. WHY change something that had no issues!? I am extremely unhappy with this change, an hopefully Nars decides to to back to the twist feature.

Wow...smooth as butter!

This liner is simply AMAZING!! It glides on easily creating a smooth line and color is really pretty. As a contacts wearer, I also appreciate the product sustainability.

Does not turn, cannot use

I love the color so much , but there is so much waste, it has to be sharpened often. Please make this in a retractable liner. Great liner otherwise. I'll still buy it bc it is long wearing.
BRING BACK SELF SHARPENING
LostACustomer from Boston
I will no longer purchase this product after 15 years because they removed the self sharpening which now wastes so much product.
What a shame

I really love this eyeliner for my top waterline. Really great staying power and non smearing. Deposits a perfect amount
Thought it was retractable kind I use to have
Mommak from WV
I was disappointed to find this eyeliner has to be sharpened. It's the reason I like it before. I liked it prior to having to sharpen it. It lasts all day. But won't buy anymore.
Used to be my go-to eyeliner
Vic14 from Fairfield, CT
I used to LOVE the Nars longwear eye pencil when it was retractable and didn't need to be sharpened. Now that they changed the pencil and you need to sharpen it I had to switch to another brand. NARS bring back the old pencil and I will definitely buy it again!
Brown liner always fades away but not this one!
Marley from California
I've noticed lately that black eyeliner looks too harsh on me so I opted to look for a darker brown/medium brown eyeliner that stays all day. I have oily lids so there is always some eyeliner transfer to my crease, I have come to terms with that. This is the first pencil eyeliner I have come across that stays all day, it does not disappear as most brown eyeliners do for me. However, it does slightly transfer to my crease due to my oily eye lids. I will repurchase because it does not disappear!

Best eye Pencil Ever.

I took my mom to purchase an array of Nars products ,including this long wearing eye pencil, as a Mothers Day treat.
perfect for waterline
vudugrl from Milwaukee, WI
I have the black and it works amazingly for waterline application. I just purchased the grey and hoping for the same results! Looks like there's some confusion about sharpening, but my basic Nars sharpener works well for this, as would any sharpener I imagine.
Disappointed in new design
Anna423 from CT
I have always loved how easily applicable the eyeliner is and does not smudge, however, the roll out option was also a huge part of what I loved about using it. I am so disappointed to learn that now it has to be sharpened. I am considering switching to another brand.
Worse than useless
DCinTX from Dallas
I got this as a travel sized freebie and was excited to try it because it's NARS. Nope! I've tried this product several times, it SMUDGES and melts right away even with primer base and powder to set it. I promise my skin is not hot lava. The pencil formula is very soft, it glides on easily without tugging, but don't even think of swiping it toward the corners of your eyes. I only lined my top lid and discovered a "leaving the club at 4 AM hot mess" smeared under-eye at 7:30 in the morning! Fixing my eye makeup in the work bathroom first thing in the morning after it melted during my commute is not a good sign. Will not be buying a full size of this product, ever!

I hate pencils that need to be sharpened. I would not have bought this if I had realized it.
Soo disappointed in the design change

I have been using Nars eyeliner for years and didn't realize they changed the design. I broke the end trying to move up the product. Will look for another type of eyeliner now.
No twist features
Nancee from Chattanooga TN
Love initial application however after one quick week, I could not twist to provide additional pencil. I unsuccessfully emailed you about this
No longer has twist up option
Disappointed77 from Alaska
I've bought this eyeliner mainly for the ability to twist the eyeliner pencil and not sharpen it. I never have luck with basic pencils that need to be sharpened as they leave thin pieces of wood that scratch my eye or I lose eyeliner trying to get it down enough to use. This pencil was amazing and now I'm on the hunt for a new manufacturer that will give us the twist up option and quality eyeliner as this one did.
Didn't realize it wasn't larger than life
AleJax from Palo Alto,CA
I've got to see l assume Nars was forced to change formula and packaging on these because of supplier issues. I can't imagine that any at Nars thought this product was comparable to the old version. It's depressing, but all of us who relied on Larger than Life are going to have to find new products. Marc Jacobs highliner is a decent alternative.
Sharpening is a nightmare
Lollypop from Canberra
Hate the new non- self sharpening eye-liner. Is sharpens really messily and its so disappointing that there changed the packaging to this style of sharpening. I love the eye liner but won't buy it again- too much wastage.
Not as bad as the reviews say

I recently received a sample size of this and wanted to leave a review because I think the current reviews are unfair. They're mostly people upset that the product isn't the same as the old version. I don't have any experience with the old product, which was a twist-up version, and this one does need to be sharpened, but it is VERY easy to sharpen and you do not lose product (I have the NARS sharpener and it works wonderfully). It's the same as the lip pencils. The formula is smooth and a nice consistency, but it's not super precise because it's a bit soft and the point doesn't stay very sharp for long. The pigment is as strong as when I use a liquid eyeliner which is impressive.

I'm disabled and love makeup. But my hands shake and there are a few motions that are difficult to impossible for me. The original black LTL Nars eyeliner was my go to, the quality was great and if it was smudged or messy I could make it work. I bought this one from Sephora not realizing it was different and it ran down and I tried twisting it and it didn't work and I was terrified that I was getting worse but I checked my order and realized it was the eyeliner that was different and it has to be sharpened...and I physically can't exert enough twist and force to sharpen it. I should have read what I bought more carefully, and that's my bad. I'm sure it still works fine for others. I've been using the LTL liner since I was 17, before I became disabled and honestly this was a bit shattering :(
Love this color!!

This is a perfect brown, it applies with ease and last all day.
