Most Helpful Positive Review Super saturated and soft but...
Bought two of these pencils for my kit. I love that they are so richly pigmented but there are a couple of things that have begun to irk me about them, particularly this color. 1. There is actual ?fall out? with this pencil. It sounds strange but its been happening. Not great when trying to get a client?s look done. 2. It is so soft that the point is gone after only a couple swipes. 3. You have to sharpen frequently and if you aren?t careful, the tip easily breaks off and you lose even more pencil.
I really do love the way they stay put and the depth of the colors. It loses a star (I would say a star ?? and a half, if I could) for the above issues.
Most Helpful Critical Review SO upset.
I have been buying the Via Veneto eye liner for 10 years now, and was never going to change. However, all the sudden Nars took away the twist and made it sharpenable.
The reason i loved this so much was because I DIDN'T have to sharpen it. The quality and the shape stayed exactly how I wanted until i was done with the liner. Sharpening this ruins the quality, and I am going through the liner so much faster than before. WHY change something that had no issues!? I am extremely unhappy with this change, an hopefully Nars decides to to back to the twist feature.

I got 3 of the eyeliners because I'd gotten a sample of one with a bunch of samples and it was ~phenomenal~. Unfortunately, the other 3 have not lived up to the sample. I still use them, but not with the same enthusiasm as the sample.
Intensely black but breaks!
LAT from Montaan
I've been using Nars for years because of it's quality and intensity.
Sadly, I've experienced frequent pigment breakage with the last two pencils I've purchased.
The tip will smooth out quickly with use (as if melting while warmed against skin). I will sharpen and it will break. If it doesn't break at that point, the next time I use it, the pigment breaks and I lose a few millimeters. It's such an intense and beautiful color and application. I don't know what's happened these past few years!

So I am not sure why so many bad reviews. To be honest the black one is all I own. The blackest one! Amazing and so black for my waterline.
It Doesnt Smudge!

I love this eyeliner bc the color is intense, it's smooth to apply and it doesnt smudge. Stays on all day!
Bring back the old version of eyeliner!!!

This is horrible!! I have used Nars roll up with sharpener included eyeliner for years and loved it. I recommended it to many people. This new liner is terrible. Goes on bad, to hard to sharpen.
Never had a problem with previous version drying out! Bye Nars, I need to find a new liner.

Soft and long-lasting
anonymous from Bay Area, CA
I use this as a substitute for liquid liner. Love that it's long lasting, although if you wear it too long it will get waxy. The texture is great, very soft and easy to apply. I like that I can sharpen it myself, although it loses a star because with the softness of it, you can never get that perfect sharp point. I end up having to blot it on under my eye and use a blending brush. If this came in an ultra-thin size it would be more for me.
Bring back older version, please!!!

Not my favorite pencil. Do not like the fake wood feel & VERY difficult to sharpen. Would not purchase again & would not recommend. Too expensive for the quality.
NARS Night Porter!
ChrisfromLI from Long Island, NY
I don't understand the negative comments. The pencil glides on easily & sharpened well without the point breaking off or the wood splitting. I used a Benefit pencil sharpener. The Night Porter color is on me a grayish black with some blue mixed in. I haven't seen any green as described in the color description. The liner lasted all day on me without moving & was easy to remove at night with my Lancôme Bi-Facil liquid eye makeup remover.

Could someone tell me how to sharpen this pencil? Thanks.
Good color choice but does not function

The pencil leaves pieces in my eyes, sinks back into the pencil so you have to keep sharpening it, and is impossible to sharpen because of the plastic surrounding the part you are trying to apply to your eyelids. I had the type of pencil where you rolled it up from the bottom, but this is not that tight and I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to sharpen it. It's basically useless
Bring Back Roll up feature!

I have been purchasing the long wear eyeliner for years. Was disappointed when I received this new eyeliner with no roll up feature. I never liked sharpening my eyeliner and would really prefer the roll up feature back
Hoursofheat from Detroit
Was not happy about how it looked when I opened it because the tip was broken off and smeared all over the top

Hindash swears by this eyeliner in the shade Mambo. It's a pencil that you have to sharpen? At this price? Nope. That's a waste of money.

Like the ease of use and no smudging

Your previous eye liner was perfect and I used it for many years. My color was initially "Parrot Cay" and then Barrow Street when Parrot Cay was discontinued. The liner had a nice creamy texture, always made a thin line, and the colors were magnificent. When you sharpen a pencil the liner tends to cake on the first time after sharpening and the point is never as thin as the roll-up liner. When you discontinued my Barrow Street I searched the Internet and Stores for a similar color and there are non to be had anywhere. I am stuck with white if I want to continue wearing my black eyeliner with a thin light line above the black. Please bring the old line back. If needed add the new to the old line, but restore our favorite liner, please!

Bring back old line
Londongal from Chicago
This new line not only discontinued two fantastic and very poplular colors (with no close replacement) of Via Appia and Abbey Road, but the new packaging is horrible. I have been a loyal NARS customer for over a decade and am pretty upset by the changes in the eyeliner line, and I am now searching for a replacement with another brand. Please bring back Via Appia, Abbey Road and the old packaging. By the looks of the reviews, I am not the only one unhappy with the changes.
Nigar from Portland,Or
I expected the declared pigmentation and I was disappointed. When sharpening a pencil, the lead dangles in the shell and breaks. Terrible product, wasted money.
Shrek from Columbus, OH
I have used NARS eyeliner for years, and I am so disappointed in this new packaging. Won't be ordering again until they fix the issues. The formula is still excellent, and the colors are beautiful (though my favorite teal color seems to have been discontinued, why?), but the sharpening feature means that the product runs out MUCH faster. Also, I am not getting a sharp tip from sharpening, and the tip breaks off easily.
Wow...smooth as butter!
mosnar from Kentucky
This liner is simply AMAZING!! It glides on easily creating a smooth line and color is really pretty. As a contacts wearer, I also appreciate the product sustainability.

I love the color so much , but there is so much waste, it has to be sharpened often. Please make this in a retractable liner. Great liner otherwise. I'll still buy it bc it is long wearing.
