Most Helpful Positive Review The BEST Primer EVER, Especially for Oily Skin
Oily girls, rejoice! I have worn primer under foundation every day for 15+ years, and never have I EVER found something that keeps my foundation from breaking up due to the excessive oil in my T-zone. I've tried this primer out a few different ways now, so I'll say two things about it specifically for the oily girls (the rest of you won't have to work so hard :) ). First, I still got breakthrough oil with this in the usual spots. In fact, the oil production was kept less at bay with just this than with what I was using before (OG Smashbox Photo Finish Primer). BUT the oil coming through was not breaking up my makeup, unlike when I've used other primers in the past. I could blot and the oil would go, but my makeup would stay. After seeing the awesome staying power this gave me, despite not controlling oil, I decided to layer this over my Smashbox. I used a tiny amount of Smashbox just on my pores in my T-zone. Then I put this primer over that, and all over the rest of my face. You guys. It's been nine hours now and I have no oil, no shine, nothing's moved. It's amazing. I have found the HG primer and the HG combination when I really need my makeup to stay all day. Just buy it, you won't regret it.
Most Helpful Critical Review Broke me out :(
I LOVED this product at first. It definitely improved the wear time of my makeup. But after using it consistently for about 5 days, I noticed my nose and chin were getting multiple little clogged pores and even some white heads. I was mainly putting the primer on my nose and my chin as those are the areas that foundation likes to slide off from. I have never broken out like that on my chin or nose, so I knew it was from me adding this primer in to my routine. It saddens me, but I have to return it. I wish it didnt break me out, I loved it otherwise!

I absolutely love coverfx primers! I own the blurring, gripping, and hydrating one and they are hands down my favorite!
My New Primer

Non-greasy and does not make face oily. Love it!!!
Patchy, causes separation.

I used this for my nose area specifically because I wear glasses and I was hoping to get my makeup to stick a little better, after all it's called a "gripping" primer. It looked great at first but after about 30 minutes I noticed that my nose area was super splotchy looking. Now, when I first noticed this I wasn't even wearing my glasses, so it wasn't from that. I tried to blend it out in every way I thought I could and it just ended up removing my makeup in this area entirely. I've tried with multiple foundations and it does the exact same thing, every time.
Worst primer ever from SD
Buyers remorse! It was awful to work with. I could not blend it well without it feeling sticky. By the time I added my foundation it broke apart creating clumps and streaks. I've tried using several times with different techniques and I always end up hating it. It's awful worst money I've spent :(
Pills up and causes poor foundation coverage
Kenedie from Fort Myers, Fl
I really wanted to love this primer, but no matter what I do, it pills up and doesn't allow foundation to glide on. I have tried foundation application right after primer as well as letting primer dry for a bit before foundation, but any scenario causes the foundation to pill and has little balls rolling around my face instead of allowing foundation to smooth on my face.
Mediocre At Best
Amy from California
I don't understand the hype. It works well, but I thought it would make my makeup last 12 plus hours with all the hype. It didn't. Don't get me wrong it did last for about 7 hours which is a solid work day, but not worth the price.

I am not a makeup newbie. I have freelanced, worked professionally, etc. But I cannot understand this product for the life of me. It pills up under every foundation I've tried and the application doesn't change that. I don't get it.

Great primer. Comparable to milk hydro grip in texture. Makes your make up last all day!
My foundation pilled up!!
Ash from United States
I've been using this primer for about 6 months and I LOVED it! The last few times I've used it, my foundation has pilled up and rolled off as I was applying it. I thought it was my foundation at first because it was older, so I tried a new foundation from a different brand and that one did the same thing! My foundation was patchy. It's definitely the primer's fault. Not worth the money. Time for an immediate declutter. :(
i\I would buy this product again

Such a great primer

Holds my makeup in place all day long. I'm in love. Definitely going to repurchase
Best Primer on the market
Amanda from New York
This primer is the best on the market. It does exactly what it says, and holds your makeup in place and keeps it from slipping. It has a unique texture...sort of tacky, that allows it to work.
too stiff, causes make up to look cakey
Theresa from Chicago
I am disappointed with the primer. It has a thick consistency and seems to not allow the makeup to set in correctly on the skin. I had to remove the make up and start over. I do not recommend this primer if you plan to put on any cream foundation over it.
LeanBean from CT
Probably my favorite primer for making my makeup last longer and stick to my trouble areas. I have combination skin and my T-zone usually gets oily troughout the day. My foundations tend to rub off or collect in my smile lines, chin, and around my nose but when I started using a little bit of the gripping primer my foundation just sticks around longer. Totally worth it!
Rowkat09 from Harrodsburg, KY
I do love this primer! It does exactly what it describes. My make up does not spread and still looks good at the end of the day!!
maybe a bit too tacky but works
LadyPink29 from Phoenix, AZ
When they call this "gripping" they really do mean "gripping". Like sticky tack for foundation. if you apply it correctly (at first I tapped it on entirely but I saw that I can smooth it on first then tap to activate it) my makeup sponge sticks to it a bit so it can make sponge blending a bit tricky. I layer on a water based pore minimizing primer underneath first on my concern areas around my nose and chin, then I cover my face with this. It does make a difference in how my foundation looks like it takes a min for the foundation to look filtered. I should use this on my chin and other areas where my foundation rubs off more easily. This is often sold out cause of tati Westbrook raving about it, so I managed to get one on sale online during 21 days of beauty when it was half off so it was the perfect opportunity to try it.

I am usually an oily mess into a couple hours of wearing my foundation. The foundation around my nose and chin melts away. This primer is amazing, no melting and barely any oil throughout my day. I used this on top of my Clinique dramatically different moisturizer and then used my elf flawless satin foundation.
Keeks from Ohio
Purchased this on sale for 50% off and I couldn't be more excited. Within two days of use, my skin had a horrible skin reaction. Contact dermatitis and it went down my face and throat. It's super sticky, yet my makeup still broke up pretty badly around my nose, just not the primer for me sadly. Returning once stores open up again.

Great for spots that I need more coverage
Metal-maniac from Michigan
I really enjoy this product however I feel like it tends to give me a very make up cake face if I use it all over. I tend to use it on my smile lines, nose and chin. If I use it all over I have a harder time blending my make up because it really does grip make up.
Lives up to the hype!
Nicole from Columbia, MD
I highly encourage using the primer the way it's suggested in the directions-- a patting motion. When I first used it, I rubbed it in and totally forgot I was supposed to pat. My foundation looked horrible. The second time I tried, and properly followed the directions, my foundation looked amazing and stayed put!
Avoid if you like a blurring effect
Delilah from San Jose, CA
God awful. Made skin texture look absolutely disgusting and like I had tiny bumps all over my face. I have a small dry patch on my chin and it clung to it like butter. If you want to use this pair it with a blurring primer. Yes it keeps your makeup on for a while, but at what cost? I was so shocked when I tried this because of of the rave reviews but this only works if you have perfect skin. If skin texture is an issue with this I recommend you spend your money on their blurring primer or pair this with a blurring primer, but I don't really think a primer should be dependent on another one to make it look nice especially at this high of a price.
Great for brides, not everyday
Abbey from Nashville
I'm a working makeup artist of 10.5 years. I got this because I was intrigued by the claims & CoverFX is one of the few brands I can usually trust blindly, as I have multiple allergies. This primer does excatly what it claims & does a beautiful job, but there's something about this one that makes me break out within a few hours. I could be the random outlier since my skin is so sensitive to begin with, but I wanted to love it so bad. So I put it in my working kit, and it has become a smash hit with my brides! Their makeup stays flawless throughout the night & their photos come out beautifully.
Holy grail primer
Chellabella from Arkansas
I love how tacky it is so I know my makeup will grip and stay all day my makeup doesn't budge with this primer and a little goes a long way also it withstands the humidity here
I love it
Monica from Arlington
Feels very smooth on my face love it
