Most Helpful Positive Review The mineral sunscreen to beat. I have tried several brands for mineral sunscreen for my face. I unfortunately break out from chemical sunscreen and some formulations even have burnt my skin immediately after application.
I also like to use chemical exfoliants, vitamin c and retinol on my skin because I have rosacea and my skin does not respond to gentle cleansing and moisturization. I tried those regimens for several years with next to no success. So for me, finding a sunscreen to wear was a must because all of those product sensitize the skin and can cause harmful effect if used incorrectly and recklessly.
Mineral sunscreens have a tendency to not be able to absorb and enjoy sitting on the skin, they often get into my eyes because they cannot absorb and are impossible to apply make up on top of if I wanted to (which is a hobby of mine.) And if you don't wear make up then you often end up with not only this very uncomfortable film on the skin but also most likely a white cast.. unless it has a tint but then you have to worry about whether the tint is too orange, and believe me 98% of the time it's too orange. I have tried at least 7 different kinds in the last year, I am so meticulous about my skin that I have a skin journal that I keep on my phone of all the products that don't work and why.
This sunscreen is so far ahead of all the game. The tint fades into the skin and seems like it color corrects into the skin. It feels like a super light skin tint when applied and rubbed in. It doesn't weigh on the face, it honestly feels like a silky foundation primer you would put on before make up application (feels like hourglass mineral veil to be more specific). I have dry skin and it doesn't dry my skin out more, it doesnt wear like a thick foundation, it absorbs like a traditional chemical sunscreen but without being a chemical sunscreen.
I usually even react to coconut oil in products but for some reason this product has it figured out. The only con is the fragrance, as beauty is headed in a fragrance free direction and its proven to be more beneficial for skin health. But besides that.. it's a 11/10.
Most Helpful Critical Review Good, but NOT vanishing. I have tried tons of mineral sunscreens and this one is good, but not great.
The good: the consistency of this sunscreen is super thin and light. In fact, it's runny and dribbles out of the tube without any squeezing. This means it runs on very smooth, more like a serum than most paint-like mineral sunscreens. My face doesn't feel sticky or coated with something heavy when I apply it. This is probably one of the best mineral sunscreens I've tried for how it applies and feels on my face. Also, while it is not clear/vanishing (see below), it doesn't leave makeup-colored marks on the inside of my masks, so I think it settles onto your skin and stays put (important for mineral/physical sunscreens - many rub off easily).
The bad: it is NOT vanishing. I have very fair skin. Many mineral sunscreens leave a white, chalky finish and that's never a problem for me because my skin is so light. However, this has a brown/orange, bronzy tint to it. If I don't rub it in and blend it out (like foundation), it'll leave dark streaks. If I apply it carefully (avoiding the areas of my face where I wouldn't naturally tan), it looks like I've applied a bronzer or sunless tanner. This means this is not an easy product to just through on before running out of the house, or reapply in the car, something important for a sunscreen. I imagine for anyone with a deep, dark complexion, that the tint might not work out well. And like most mineral sunscreens I've tried, my skin feels dried out at the end of day when I wear it.
If you have the right complexion, this product is probably worth the high price point. I will use up the bottle I have, but I won't pay full price to refill unless they offer this in varying shades .

I live in the Midwest, so the winter air really aggravates my already dry sensitive skin. Chemical sunscreens make my skin red and irritated, while mineral sunscreens dry my skin out, making it red, patchy, and flakey. Alas, this sunscreen is very moisturizing and doesn't dry my skin out at all. It never irritates my skin, even on my skin's worst days. My skin instantly feels moisturized and almost calmed/cooled/refreshed when I put this on in the morning. The tint is lovely on my neutral-warm skin tone- it provides a tiny bit of coverage and gives my skin a bit of a healthy glow. I haven't skipped sunscreen since I bought this because I love how it looks and feels on my skin. Oh, and no sunburns since using this product :)

This stuff is very light weight! And it actually does vanish into the skin. I am impressed by how well it goes on for being tinted. The color scared me a little bit, if you are fair-skinned you will feel the same! But don't even thing twice about it because once you apply this it doesn't even seem or look as if you just put anything on! A great base for under makeup or perfect to wear out while you are going makeup free. Will definitely be buying again!
For me at first the smell was very strong and off-putting, but now that I've been using it for a while I don't even notice!

Ulta employee recommended I try this (I have combo/dry, super pale skin and have been struggling to find a single sunscreen that doesn't break me out). So far so good acne-wise, I love the thin consistency, and I do feel confident that it gives my face solid sun protection. It also seems to have given me a healthy/hydrated natural glow after only abt a week of use.
-I love the smell, but it's pretty strong so beware if you're not about fragrance.
+phenomenal spf+primer for makeup in one
-"vanishing tint" is a bold claim that I don't know if I totally agree with. Out of the bottle, it is DARK tan. I absolutely have to blend this out like foundation if I don't want to look ridiculous. It does sink in/blend decently well after, just not without work.
-I personally wear foundation only rarely, so if you're not up for blending this out daily with a brush I wouldn't recommend, it's a lot of upkeep if you're pale
+ light tan-darker skin tones I'm sure would have no problem without the blending work, the color is really pretty
I like it enough to use all the product, but will try the illuminating version when I run out to see if it's lower maintenance for pale skin.

I absolutely love this sunscreen! I don't use makeup, so I was afraid the tint it would be to much but it's not, leaves my skin glowing. I never liked putting sunscreen, but this one it's so easy that I love it now. Doesn't leave any residue on the skin, very smooth and easy to apply, doesn't clog my pores (as I have acne prone skin), and the smell it's pleasant.

I'm a light skinned black woman and this looks ashy on my skin. I bought it to use instead of tinted moisturizer, but the texture and color are just not working for me. I wear it around the house and when gardening because I don't want to waste it. I will not purchase it again.

I had high hopes for this sunscreen, but I'm disappointed. The tint is good and the product applies well. But the texture is gritty, it feels like it has little grains of sand in it. I expected more from StriVectin.

I was very disappointed with this sunscreen. I liked the look it gave my skin- not matte but not shiny. However, the color was way too dark for my skin tone which I would classify as medium ie: not too fair not too dark. The reason I really did not like this product though is that the smell was very overwhelming! It was as if I was putting liquid perfume on my face. To make matters worse I could still smell it at the end of the day. My skin was really red and irritated the next couple of days after using this. I'm returning it to the store tomorrow.

I like using this product because it has 30% SPF coverage. The tint is subtle. I don't like wearing foundation and this is just right for me.
The one thing I'm not crazy about is how watery it is. That doesn't accept its quality, it just bothers me. It has a nice scent and a nice texture once it blends in.

This is easy to apply and evenly spread on face. It feels silky with just a hint of color so you can see where you have applied it. The consistency does not feel sticky when applied. I would definitely recommend this product if you are looking for a substantial sunscreen without the heavy, sticky feel of most sunscreens.

Ok... so i am allergic to most chemical sunscreens so i tried this one. It's amazing, no reaction and great sun protection. It's a little bit too thin consistency for my liking but it blends well and I'm getting used to it. The tint is nice and bleds well into my fair skin.
