Most Helpful Positive Review Excellent except for 1 thing!
Bismuth Oxychloride is the first inactive ingredient listed in this product, which can cause an allergic reaction when mixed with sweat in some people. I was super bummed when this product arrived and I read the ingredients, because I'm one of the sweaty people who itches like crazy due to B.O. However, B.O aside, this is really an excellent product. You get 2.5 oz for a decent price, it's very light on the skin and yet a bit moisturizing, does not cause breakouts/congestion and has a slight tint. It also has a 20% concentration of zinc oxide as the main UVB-UVA protector which is ideal but uncommon and hard to find. So minus the B.O, this product is a winner. I also have the sensitive skin version of the Cotz sunscreens and I like it as well. It is just thicker, more moisturizing and untinted without the B.O. I wish Cotz would make this without the B.O as I would prefer this sunscreen to the sensitive one for the summer. So the only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is due to the inclusion of the well-known irritant bismuth oxychloride.
Most Helpful Critical Review Very light coverage, slightly greasy
I have been wearing sunscreen everyday for the last 30 years, so I have used tons of different brands from all over the world! I favor tinted sunscreen so that I can just dash out for quick errands without putting on makeup. This product only has a very light tint, so it is not really enough to cover up my light freckles and even out my skin tone, unlike other tinted sunscreen and BB/CC cream I have used. Also, it is slightly greasy, I can see a thin film of oil on my face. Great for my dry skin, but not so great when I put on foundation for those days that call for a more made up face. My complexion looks dewy at first but after a few hours, it turns greasy. It is value for money though, as it comes in quite a big size for its price. May be better for the colder and drier winter months.

I like that this is a sunscreen for acne prone skin, and I may have purchased an "old version" of this product...but I feel EXTREMELY greasy all day.
Greasy greasy greasy

I have pretty normal, acne prone skin so I have been trying out different tinted mineral SPFs and this one didn't even check off one requirement on my list of needs for a good tinted spf. I did my normal AM skincare cleanse, HA and vitamin C serums, moisturizer that I let my skin absorb for 15 minutes before I applied the COTZ flawless complexion. Immediately upon application I felt like I had a layer of cooking oil on my face so I figured it needed time to absorb. Boy was I wrong. I waited 15 minutes and saw it was still a grease pit sitting on top of my skin so I waited another 15 and still no change. The tint also immediately disappeared upon application... everywhere except my eyebrows that is. I couldn't see the tint at all besides the nasty orange "glow" in my eyebrows which was not cute. I have high expectations for any skincare items I buy but this product didn't even hit the bare minimum of just absorbing into my skin so that I could at least put makeup on but every product I put on slid right off even after putting a layer of setting powder on after the spf before my makeup. One star just for the packaging alone that was adequate and made it easy to shake it up before dispensing.

Besides the coverage it covers UVA1 UVA 2 and UVB the iron oxides used to tint the sunscreen also protect against blue light damage that occurs outside and further aggravates medium golden olive skin tone like mine. I'm about a Mac nc30, maybelline 220, coverfx drops g50 and this tint is pretty undetectable once it has set down. It's emollient but in in the way a soothing moisturizer may feel. It will dry down this particular formula is not water proof but on a day to day basis or under makeup or a dry or Cold environment it's just fine. It's wonderful also for post procedural skin Ie ( if you just had a chemical peel or your skin is feel extra sensitive or irrated) I have the " primer" the tint is a little darker but just as good I enjoy them both. Ulta has the bogo sale I usually stock up then.
Non-Irritating and Glowy

Most sunscreens irritate my skin, but this feels supple and protective. I'll take having to blot the later day shine for the early glow. The only sunscreen I've ever tried that I look forward to putting on, which at 45 says a lot. I have to do a really thorough cleanse at night followed by some matrixyl from the ordinary or pores will build up after a few days. But it's a game changer for getting me to finally put on my SPF. Very similar texture to Glossier perfecting skin tint which plays nice on top. It's not very stylish for the price, but this product delivers on the sun protection. Also it's fragrance free which is essential for us sensitives.

I absolutely love this sunscreen! After trying so many sunscreens I stumbled upon this sunscreen because of the deal they had going on and I must say this is better than my la roche posay sunscreen I've been sticking to... it completely vanishes and does not leave a white cast on my skin( for a mineral based sunscreen) I have a medium skin tone( olive undertone) and all the other mineral sunscreens make me look pasty and grey. I did not find it to sting too much under the eyes as well! I'm in love !

This leaves absolutely ZERO white cast which is an absolute first for me using a 100% mineral sunscreen. No awful added fragrance and it doesn't break me out either.
My only caveat is that - as someone with really oily skin - this never really "dries down" on my face. I completely agree with other reviewers that it stays tacky for as long as you wear it, and after a few hours I go from dewy to greasy, hence my rating. But if you have darker skin, want a mineral sunscreen, and don't mind the sticky feel and shine, I HIGHLY recommend this. My mom with drier skin loves this. I think I will try the prime and protect one next since I believe it dries matte.
My New Favorite!
Heather M. from Boise, ID
I've been looking for a mineral sunscreen that doesn't leave a white cast on my face and THIS IS IT! I have neutral, medium/light skin and although this blended with my skin tone perfectly, it didn't give me any "coverage" or even out my skin tone or anything like that - which is absolutely fine with me. It does leave my skin slightly sticky feeling if I am bare faced that day so I gave it 4 stars, but for me that is such a small price to pay for a solid mineral sunscreen.
Great under make up
Great primer from NJ
I hated it at first because it's sticky but then ended up loving it for the same reason. You don't need a separate primer with this. It works as a sun shield but also as a great primer before your foundation. My foundation and under eye area doesn't crease with this as a base. Love it. under eye and face primer. It doesn't peel under make either. I will be repurchasing.
Great for dark skin (Lupita Nyong dark)
FiFi G from Washington DC
This is a great mineral sunscreen. I have been searching high and low for a physical sunscreen that didn't leave my dark skin looking ashen or grey. Cotz didn't do that at all! It went on smooth. Blended well. No white cast. Well ... you don't see anything that would make a dark skinned women scream until you sweat. My partner noticed it first. He told me that I had a white line along my hairline. I immediately got my face in front of a mirror and saw that sweating had caused the sunscreen to whiten. Perhaps I didn't blend the sunscreen into my skin well. Based on that experience, I try to avoid getting any of the sunscreen near my hairline or on my hair.
Would recommend this product. This has a high SPF which is what one needs if you are putting acids on your face.
New Brown Girl Sunscreen Wearer: I'm a fan
GldnGirl48 from Connecticut
This is a good product. I'm a black woman who has never worn or considered wearing sunscreens. I felt the chemicals could not be healthy for our skin based on how they function, their penetration into tissues, and the fact that some of them harm living marine life. I tried CoTz. I am VERY happy with the product. It's tinted but it blends right into brown skin. There is ABSOLUTELY NO white cast. I wear my usual skin products including moisturizer underneath as I don't feel it is moisturizing enough to go without. I gave a tube to my SIL and recommended it to a friend. I will not hide from the sun with or without sunscreen but I'll definitely be proactive in maintaining the health of my skin. My only complaint is it feels slightly tacky/sticky on the face for the duration that it is on the skin. Otherwise, I have no complaints and fully recommend the product.
Too greasy, doesn't dry down
Katie W. from Overland Park, KS
I like the dewy finish of this sunscreen, but it never dries down and still feels sticky on my face even after I try and let it "sink in" for several hours. Since it's so hot and humid in Kansas right now, and since I'm working from home full time anyway, I haven't experimented much with layering a full face of makeup over it, but on the days i have applied even minimal concealer or tinted moisturizer, with a bit of powder, my face still feels sticky and greasy. I like the subtle tint, and I think it's a great value for the size which can be difficult to come across in an SPF, but I don't think I will be repurchasing this.
Bekah from Indiana
Hands down best facial sunscreen! I feel good knowing it's mineral based. I have very oily skin. This product does feel greasy at first, but quickly absorbs into the skin. It leaves a beautiful dewy glow and preps my skin for foundation. I have used it with several different liquid and powder foundations, and it works with all of them.

Very easy to apply and light on the skin.

Never absorbed into the skin, just sits on top.
I love this sunscreen.
Horse chic from Florence, Ky
I put this on in the morning before I went to ever go outside. It goes on very smoothly, has a slight tint to it and gives my skin a beautiful glow. I get so many compliments how my skin looks. I have recommended Cotz to so many people that I know
no white cast but very sticky feeling
sticky from nj
no white cast which is great but it feels gross on the skin because is feels very sticky. the tint transfers to clothes.
It's just fine
JakyK from Kansas
I was hoping to really love this. I wanted a sunscreen that left no white cast and gave a primer like effect on the skin. It's just okay, it is very heavy so you have to apply small amounts and slowly layer. It leaves an unpleasant slip to the skin and has no white cast. It does its job but it is nothing spectacular.
this is my dream sun-care product
LinaLeo from ND
I have had this sitting in my favorites/buy later list forever. after running out of my Babo Botanicals SPF 40, I wanted to try something different so I purchased this and their face and body sunscreen.
This is, in my humble opinion, the best mineral sunscreen on planet Earth. the tiny is very light and is just enough to even my skin tone (I am usually not one to buy tinted face products because they are almost always too dark for my fair freckled skin). It blends into my skin almost effortlessly. it's moisturizing, feels good putting it on, and after letting it sink into my skin for about ten minutes it leaves me with a nice glow. 100% reccomend and 100% plan on buying this until I'm dead. please don't ever discontinue this, I have been searching for a product like this for years.
So far so good (Black girl friendly)
Tot marie from Chandler Arizona
I've been using it for two weeks now and I love it. I've tried a lot of different sunscreens in th e past and really like this one. Its mositurizing and it doesn't leave a white cast on my face. As a person of color finding a sunscreen that doesn't do that is hard.
I haven't noticed any breakouts from it or any strong fragrances. Definitely would recommend and I'll be purchasing again!
heavy and sticky on the skin
sticky from nj
I like this sunscreen because it leaves No white cast. It leaves the skin super shiny and looks super greasy on the skin. Also it feels heavy and sticky on the skin.
No white cast but so much sheen!
Mia from IL
This is the first mineral sunscreen that leaves no cast whatsoever on my dark brown skin. That is why I am so upset that its almost unwearable because of the finish. I have dry skin and I usually don't mind a bit of shine but when I put this on I look like I applied olive oil to my face for about 5 minutes. It does dry down a bit after that but its still so shiny. I may give it another try in the winter but definitely not usable in the summer
I've tried a lot of mineral sunscreens and this is a fav
Girl in Chicago from Chicago
I've been a sunscreen fanatic since my teens, and have cycled thrum many mineral sunscreens. This one is a great bang for your buck. It is a heavier feel but it's common with mineral sunscreens and it blends well. I've got normal skin and I'm light toned and both the tint and level of dewy "sheen" it leaves works for me. Can't speak to darker skin tones, obv. If you're oily skinned you may not love the sheen, it's def not a matte finish.
I would buy this again!
Brit from Boston
Everyday sunscreen although leaves skin dewy/borderline greasy. Still will choose this over 90% of mineral sunscreen as the formula blends well. I tried Cotz Prime and Protect sunscreen and that left my skin chalky and matte. I loved the mattifying effect but the formula did not blend well and looked patchy.
I'd buy again and will try the other versions
Sunscreen Looker from VA - Virginia
Only used this sunscreen a few times, it is tinted but when applied to my olive medium tan skin, it goes on clear rather than a tint which is fine. The consistency of it is like a light moisturizer and rubs in quickly. I like that it doesn't make my oily skin look more oily or greasy. It is a little pricey but overall I'm glad I purchased for my face. I found this product through a youtuber/dermatologist Dr. Dray. Thanks Dr. Dray!
