Most Helpful Positive Review Expensive, but worth it. After being bombarded on Facebook by ads for this brush, I started to become obsessed with having it. There aren't many reviews on it yet since it's so new. So I decided to use my $20.50 in Ultamate rewards dollars and my $3.50 coupon, so it wasn't quite as painful buying it. Washed and blow dried my hair last night. Still used my regular wet brush to brush my wet hair, as the flat mate really doesn't do well with wet hair. I then used the flat mate toward the end of drying , and after drying. Huge difference in smoothness and shine. My hair looked like I'd used my thermal straightening brush or a flat iron, and I hadn't. Just brushed with this brush. It really does smooth the hair, makes in shinier. I'm looking forward to brushing out curls with it today. If you're on the fence with this brush, I say buy it. Wait for a 20% coupon if you have to, but it's a yes for me.
Most Helpful Critical Review Okay but not the best I bought this brush for two reasons: I LOVE DryBar and I wanted a boar bristle brush. I decided to purchase this and the Mason Pearson Junior BN2 to compare them. The BN2 is a medium sized boar bristle and nylon tuft brush that is similar in size to the Flat Mate. I have thick hair, so I need the single nylon tuft to help detangle when brushing. After using both brushes, I can honestly say I understand and COMPLETELY support the hype surrounding the Mason Pearson brush. If you can afford the MP, it's worth the splurge; if you can't, the Flat Mate will work, but I'm not sure it's worth 8x the price of others. I agree with the comments about the decals peeling off or hair getting under them and pulling. I agree that this is an annoyance and I would expect more from DryBar. I still love DryBar, and the lemon drop is an amazing brush, this product just isn't for me.
Reviewed by 30 customers Great brush, but letters come off 4
JBarbie from Alexandria VA
The reviews are true. I haven't had this brush very long and the silver letters, which are just glued on, will come off. And they are sharp. I went ahead and removed the rest of the letters which was very easy. The overall purpose of the brush though is great and I'm otherwise happy with it.
AMAZING!!! 5

I absolutely love this brush. I never would have thought a brush actually makes a difference to your hair but this one does!!
It makes my hair so soft and silky & leaves my hair looking like I straightened it! Totally recommend.
Stickers Literally Stab You 2
Hope from New York
The bristles and the actual brush part of this brush are okay. I have long thick hair and this brush cannot untangle it at all. The absolute worse thing are the stupid letter stickers. I lost one r in the first week of use and it stabbed my thumb then the second r came off later with a stab to another finger but the worst was the other day when the y lodged itself under my pinky nail. I honestly have no idea how this product made it past quality control. if you do decide to buy this brush, do yourself a favor and remove the stickers before you even use it.
Love it!! 5

Second purchase 5

I purchased this brush less than a year ago and was absolutely in love with it. Somehow, with having three daughters, it disappeared but I loved it so much I had to re-purchase.
Brush is Great 3

Brush is great, metal DB stickers that slice into your skin and make you bleed are not. I removed them with a sewing needle after the third cut.
Okay but not the best 3

I splurged on this brush and for the most part hehe enjoyed it. That is, until the brand letters on the handle started to peel off. Today the "D" came off as I was using it and literally went into my finger like a splinter, causing me to bleed. I will be taking it back to the store asap. I also noticed it collects a ton of lint, though the other brushes I store in the same place do not have this issue.
Returned 1

I loved the bristles of the brush, but I had to return it. I had it around a week and the brush paint was chipping off and the handle has stickers that spell Drybar that were already peeling off. I am very careful with my tools and wasn't rough on the brush at all. I have lots of other Drybar tools and love them. But I can't keep a brush for this price with chipping paint and peeling stickers. Sadly Drybar has a serious quality control issue here. If they can fix the cheap letter stickers and paint chipping issue in a version 2 of the brush, I would buy it!
Never in my life have a loved a brush more 5

I absolutely love this brush. I have damaged, bleached hair, and it has made such a difference in my hair. My hair is softer, shiner, and helps to disperse the oils in my hair so I don't have to wash it as often. It also helps to exfoliate my scalp so it's MUCH less dry and flakey.
The only complaint I have is that the "Dry Bar" logo comes off pretty easily, but that doesn't effect the usage of the brush.
I would buy this brush over and over.
My new FAVE 5
Tries EVERYTHING! from Reynolds, Illinois
From the moment I opened the package, I knew I'd forget how much I just spent on this brush. I no longer cared! This brush is beautiful and appears to be very well made. Outside of being a little larger than expected, this brush worked great and made my hair silky with the first brush stroke! It is my new favorite brush. I am telling EVERYONE about my "find."
Amazing 5

At first I thought the price was insane, but after trying it, I realized this is an absolutely amazing brush. I never knew a brush alone could improve my hair so much. This brush makes my hair silky and shiny and diminishes fizz. It's thick enough to get all my hair and still reach my scalp, and I have thick hair. I was worried the longer bristles would be too scratchy, but they're not at all. Definitely worth it. I tried cheaper ones that claim to do the same, and the results they produced were far inferior.

This brush is better than my mason.
Bristles too harsh for my tender scalp 3
Eliz from Colorado Springs
I just purchased this brush today and used it. unfortunately, there's no way I'll be able to use this brush. The nylon brush bristles on the brush are longer the the boar bristles to help detangle. However, they are very stiff and hard and basically it's like scratching my scalp every time I brush. I have fine medium thick hair. I was hoping brush would massage my scalp or invigorating my scalp. hurts my head. Maybe better for someone with a long thick coarse head if hair.
Amazing brush 5

I was hesitant to buy this brush due to the price. However, I decided to indulge and I am so happy I did. This brush feels great on the scalp and it makes my thick, naturally curly (but I blow it out) hair so shiny and sleek. It's definitely worth it. Very good quality. If you have the money and you're looking for a boar bristle brush, then this is the one!!
Amazing brush for long hair 5
RosieRose from Blacksburg, VA
This is an excellent brush! It is my first boar brush. My previous brush was a 2.99 job from Forever 21 that I've had for over 10 years. My hair is halfway down my back and still growing so needless to say a junk brush isn't doing my hair any favors. Immediately upon using this brush my hair became a lot more smooth and silky. My hair improves every day I use it. My only complaint is that the DRYBAR lettering on the handle is just cheap stickers that have already started to come off. For the price it really should be engraved or painted on.
Makes a world of difference! 4
T.T. from Northwoods
Giving a rating of 4 stars due to cost. I was using a cheaper brand for years that resulted in zany little fly always from broken hairs strands. I have noticed the difference even after a couple weeks of use. If you can look past the price tag, I'd recommend.
magic! 5
Dee Bee from Carmichael, CA
tried this out the first day I bought it & it's magic! I had super dirty knotted hair & this transformed it into silky manageable hair! love it. worth the splurge
if you have long hair, you NEED this 5
Lola from San Diego, CA
This is the best brush I've ever owned, and although it's ridiculously expensive (I had to use a 20% coupon and my points) it makes my hair look the best it has ever looked. I hate brushing my hair, but this makes it a luxurious and enjoyable experience, the bristles penetrate my hair and are able to touch my scalp without scraping it like other nylon/boar bristles typically do. You have to try this brush to believe what it can do!
Very nice 5

I let my hair dry mostly and finish up with this brush on low heat. Very smooth results. Scalp feels amazing also. Got on sale and would definitely buy again.

I didn't want to buy brush since it was so expensive but I kept hearing positive reviews about it and I caved in. I'm so glad I did. It's the best brush I've ever had. I love it. I wish they'll make one in a mini size.
