Most Helpful Positive Review Black hair to caramel highlights As Filipinos we have super jet black hair so I left it for two hours. For those complaining, that their colorl is still black or so... Then do not rinse. Before rinsing, you can look at the hair color soaked in the hair dye kf the color has changed and if not changed to the desired color, then wait longer. It is coming sense that the darker the hair, the more longer one just wait.
I weaved in and out with a chopstick and only bleached certains against foil. Then I wrapped each section with foil and let stay for two hours.
I attempted a balayage highlights with random strips..no bleach touched her scalp and it was always 6 to 8 inches or so away.
Most Helpful Critical Review Don't use if you ever want to change colors! It definitely does it's job. Didn't really see to much damage at all. But I STONGLY CAUTION anyone who would want to change their hair color after this not to use this brand!!!!! This dye has been stuck in my hair for almost 6 months. I've tried just about every single removal method including bleach and it is still in my hair. (Previously blonde before application) Most salons won't even attempt to remove it due to matalic salts used in product.

I have somewhat dark brown hair mixed with a bit of medium brown. The first time I bleached my hair using this bleach it turned my hair color into a orange/Carmel color and it was a disaster. I tried it again and it took like 3-4 bottles of bleach just to get a yellow tone. I used a highly recommended toner and my hair was still the same color. It's best to go with the manic panic bleaching kit or splat and no I don't recommend this bleaching, so don't waste your money and time on this!

I'm no stranger to DIY bleaching BUT I took some time off because I could finally afford a salon visit. I had some professional highlights done on level 3 hair. Sept. 2019, touched up Jan 2020. I kept my roots virtually the same. I had some caramel and blond highlights throughout. Fast forward Covid 19 and it's May, I'm grown out and no my salon had yet to open. Queue Colorista Bleach Ombré. After watching some videos on the product I decided, after a month of research I bought it. Like many have said you have to understand color theory to understand why your hair turns orange and not the pretty color on the box. If you are naturally dark haired, your hair has to left 4-5 levels before you get what you see on the box. This bleach isn't the best and with my stubborn hair lifted about 2-3 levels on my darkest areas which I expected. It lifted my lightest highlights another 1-2 levels which originally (from my previous highlights) was a level 5/6. YOU HAVE TO BUY A TONER or even a blue mask to neutralize the brass. I like Redkens Blue Mask. I like the brush because it made it easy to apply. I kept it so I could possibly buy better bleach and use the brush. Doesn't smell too bad either.
Subtle highlights perfect for summer 5

The brush made it easier to apply. The hightlights are subtle. NO STRONG ODOR.
Love love love this! 5

After much consideration on how to partially blonde my medium brown (naturally oily) hair, I am so glad I chose this ombré kit. I left it on slightly longer than recommended and it turned out a fun, non-orangey shade of blonde on the sections where it was applied. I was not going for a natural look, so that was not a consideration. I have had it on for months now and it's growing out in a flattering way. I have put Manic Panic's Hot Hot Pink on over it and have received many compliments. I will be buying this again soon.
it's good but not tooooooo good 4
gina from massachusetts
i've done this once and it does work you just got to RUB IT IN and it turns orange since obviously my hair is dark so use a toner or blue shampoo 😆😆
Fun and easy concept but color didn't take. 3
Jmayen from SA Texas
It was fun and easy to use but the dye color didn't take very well. Left on for 45 min and I really couldn't tell a difference.
Love the convenience of an at home kit! 5

It's bleach and it comes with everything ready to mix and use so it's pretty neat. Worked well for me. Don't expect salon quality results if you don't know anything about bleaching and color theory, while expecting the bleach (which you don't know what volume or how strong it is) on a little brush to work some magic. It's not very hard but again, you gotta have some common sense for using it.
TERRIBLE 2
G from LA
Dries out within minutes, doesn't lift light enough. Dried out my hair and made it look like straw. My hair has never looked worse... use ANY other product but this one. The only good thing about it was the amount you receive and the price, other than that, don't waste your time. I now have to dye my virgin hair with permanent hair color. So sad. My boyfriend did not approve, said i looked like a ginger rat afterwards.
Terrible Terrible Product!! 1

This was such a terrible product that turned my hair bright orange. I highly do not recommend this product for anyone. I had such terrible results on my medium brown hair and I would never use this product again or recommend it to anyone. The outcome was so disappointing.
Horrible 1

I'd give 0 stars if I could! I have medium brown hair and it did nothing! Total waste of money. Save yourself the trouble and buy something else.
DOESN'T WORK ON DARK HAIR AT ALL. 1
Tess from Michigan
How do I add a screenshot in order to prove this is a worthless product?
Even after leaving it on for 45 mins it still didn't bleach my hair. I probably would've had better luck with Clorox or peroxide at a fraction of the cost.
I'd give it 0 stars if I could.
I feel robbed.
AMAZING! 5

I bought the new highlights kit and let me tell you... I went from a medium brown hair color to golden brown. The darkest part of my hair turned a deep red so now I have brown, red, and blonde mixed in and I love it. I paid a salon $200 a few months ago to do exactly what I did with this box and I love the results even more. I will definitely be using this from now on.
NEVER BUY THIS AGAIN 1

This is the worst bleach ever!! I'm 49 years old and lots of experience bleaching my hair. Well first box I used I looked like a calico cat!!! I thought wow I really missed alot so .... I ran out and got another box and what I got then was a FRIED CRUNCHY ORANGE WHITE splotchy nasty color nothing like the box and what hair that didnt break off I had to have cut off.⁹

Awful 1

This is not a strong enough bleach to lift med brown hair past orange. If you like orange hair, this is the product for you!
Meh. 2
Kristen from Overland Park, KS
The applicator comb was useful but the product itself didn't really lift/lighten my hair much. It says 30vol - it dried my hair out like 30 vol. but didn't lighten like you'd expect it to. It smells nice but I would not repurchase.
Love it! 5

I love this product and have been using it to add highlights for a while now! I know a lot of people have expressed that the color comes off brassy on them, but I think it depends on your skin undertones and hair undertones. I have very dark brown (almost black) hair naturally and a warmer undertone for both skin and hair, and this product gives me natural caramel colored highlights, does not appear brassy at all! I could see how on some hair types/colors it could come out brassy, but try doing a patch test before hand and see if it will work with your hair. At the end of the day, it works like a bleach, so if it does come out brassy, you could always go over it with hair color that is closer to what you wanted afterwards and it should balance out! Also, a tip for first-time users, rather than going the full 30 minutes, try going 15-20 minutes and you may like the results better. Just depends on what intensity you are looking for! Lastly, for anyone who is sensitive to smells, this does have a strong smell, so be sure to work in a large, ventilated space!
Fried my hair 1
Kat from Lexington, KY
I have natural red hair, that i've lifted to blonde plenty of times before. This bleach was dry, and only lifted in patches. Not to mention my roots are fried and some of my hair has broken off. And on top of it all, my hair is still orange. Please spare yourself the tears.
Love this dye 5
Vivacious Val from Spring Hill, FL
I have been using this dye for a little over a year and love it. I have used other dyes in the rose gold color and none have come close to this one. When I need to touch up my color I just get 1 box and use it to touch up and get my hair vibrant again. It lasts a pretty good amount of time.
It worked great 5
Leelee from Las Vegas NV
I usually go to Ulta Salon and get my hair done...I went two times for extensions, which btw looked INCREDIBLE....cost me $900 each time....yes $900 and the tape in hair started coming out after one wash....it took my hair out by the root and my scalp bled. Being tired of the cost at the salon and wanting a new look......I dyed my hair a blue black. Which I LOVED! But time for a change...I bought this stuff after using countless other products that didnt work....this worked GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am very happy with the results!
Game Changer 5

I can't get over all of the bad reviews of this product! I found this super easy to use and it helped me achieve professional looking highlights for a fraction of the cost.
I didn't want ombre hair so i used the comb provided to apply bleach to strands of hair to create a balayage effect. The whole process was very quick and easy. Because I have dark brown hair the bleach lightened my hair to a brassy orange color (as expected using bleach on dark hair). I then applied regular hair dye in a light toffee color to the bleached sections. I achieved the exact result I wanted. My hair felt soft and healthy and I received compliments from my friends all summer. I'm already planing to repeat the process in a few months to add some extra highlights.
First box was good! 1
Ekelly0686 from ME
Ordered 2 boxes. Both came together. First box was good, all contents in good condition. Second box was defective and combusted all on the inside of the box. Was pulling contemts out of box when I realized what had happened, so I didn't have gloves on. The white substance that was all inside the box burnt 2 fingers on my right hand. I called the 1800 CS number, wasnt even given an apology. All she said was they'd send me another box. I then left a survey of my feedback of the call, ulta still never reached out to me. I then emailed customer service, which I get told the situation is being looked into, which I still have not heard anything back. Although the email did state an apology (finally). This situation has left a bad taste in my mouth, it wasnt shipping cause the first box was fine, no problems. The second box was defective and literally exploded all over. I also mentioned to the CS rep i spoke with I had pictures/ video of the mess along with the burns on my fingers. And again got no apology for what had happened.
