I read about Fake Bake on another website where it got rave reviews for a non-streak, easy-to-apply, non-orange, bronzy tan. I was going to order it, but stopped in at my local Ulta. Whew, I didn't know there were soooo many varieties of Fake Bake. The customer service person was very helpful. Since I have fair skin and didn't want a super dark, leathery look, the customer service person suggested the Fake Bake Fair. Well, all I can say, "It Is Perfect!" I followed the directions to a "T"...exfoliated, no lotions. The kit comes with gloves, which is a great advantage. I started with a little amount, and it went a long way on my skin. The lotion is tinged/colored a nice bronze so you know where you are applying it. I just rubbed in circles and in an up and down movement until the lotion had disappeared into my skin. Don't know about other people, but this Fake Bake smells like chocolate!!! Yum!!! I applied a very light amount to my feet, which worked out well. As for my hands, I took a cotton pad, like you use to apply toner to your face, and put just a small amount on the pad and then rubbed it into the tops of my hands keeping my knuckles bent so the lotion would not get into the creases. Finally, Fake Bake doesn't recommend this, but the spray tanning place I went to before using this product had me put a little baby powder behind my knees, in the crook/bend of the elbows, and under your arm pits. I did this again after applying the Fake Bake. This prevents any sticking, sweating, or getting any unevenness. I also wore loose fitting scrub pants and a loose fitting long sleeve top (that's what the srpay tanning salon recommends, too) After 12 hours, I had a nice light tan/bronze. NO ORANGE!!! NO MISTAKES!!! NO GOOF-UPS!!! Two days later I applied Fake Bake again. With 2 applications in 1 week, I'm really dark enough for my desires. I can't find anything bad about this product. This is a real keeper for me and will continue to use it through the summer. Much cheaper than going to the spray tan place with no worries of getting chemicals up your nose (referencing recent news articles about spray tans).
This product expires! When it does it turns green and will turn your skin green if used!
For this reason I would seek other options in this price point that will not "go bad".
I did suggest to the manufacturer to add an expiration date to the packaging to make buyers aware.

I LOVED and have used this product for YEARS! Sadly, this last bottle was GREEN. Like Shrek meets pea green soup green. Really disappointed, won't be purchasing again.

Up until this summer, Fakebake in Fair has been the best self tanner I could find for my very pale skin. I have been using it for three years with great results. This summer I have purchased two tubes of it and both were GREEN! The first time, I realized it that evening when I started to apply it after my bath. Returned it the following day. Now, a month later, I was going to buy it from a different ULTA but before paying for it, I asked if they would open it to make sure it was fresh. They did so, reluctantly, and sure enough, it was also green. After using so many tubes of this through the years, I'm well aware that it should be a taupe/brown color. When fresh, this is the best self tanner out there for fair skinned people but I'm wondering if the Coronavirus has somehow caused old shipments to come in. I probably won't try it again until next summer. You can check my earlier review when I gave five stars.

I'm very pale/fair and this gave me the best bit of warmth to my skin I've been looking for. No orange or green streaks.

I am 100% pale! I am Fairly Light in Bare Minerals. (Sometimes I swear I'm lighter than that) I have tried SO many different products! Jergens gradual tanner for fair skin made me look orange! So did St. Tropez! I have used so many various products through the years - but I never give up when it comes to beauty! I knew I would find the true pale girls gradual tanning BFF. It goes on chocolate brown which scared me but quickly blends in (dark brown color helps so you see where you are applying). Go lighter on the knees and ankles and elbows. I love this product so much!!!! Scent is light and not overwhelming (I have a strong sense of smell so sometimes I am sensitive). You need to apply every day or else it doesn't build. Also- if you are pale trying to become tropical Barbie- this is not the product you are looking for. This is a VERY LIGHT color for pale girls like me! :) The best part is that it is not orange at all. I haven't put this on my face. I think it would look weird so I use something else on my face.

Okay so I am about as white as white gets, to give you an idea I'm shade 100 in the Fenty line... things also tend to turn orange on me very easily. I had a beach day planned with three of my friends that are pretty dark and I needed a quick solution to blend in a bit more. So I went in to the ultra by me looking for a self tanner that would work, the lady working was super helpful and pointed out a few options to me. FakeBake seemed the best because of the "gradual" tan factor. So I decided to try it... I have never had a tanning lotion work as well as this one did. It didn't turn orange, yet it made me feel like I had just left a week at the beach. It gave me a gorgeous looking tan without the hours of sitting in the sun and possible sunburn.

worst I have ever used. tried leaving it on 4-6 hours then rinsing and it all went down the drain. Felt heavy and greasy while I had it on. After leaving on and taking a shower, it ALL WENT DOWN THE DRAIN. Tried this 3 days n a row. No color at all!!!

I ran across Fake Bake "fair" early last summer and used three tubes during June, July and August. It is, by far, the most natural looking tan I've found in a bottle or tube. This summer I am on my second tube. I put it on with a mitt about every third night after my bath and then rinse it off the following morning. I am very pale and the "fair" looks great.

I've used Fake Bake for years. I really recommend this product. The only problem is if you don't use it every other day, it fades.
Becs from Oklahoma
It always left a "just applied" lotion feel. The color was always an orange unnatural color. Might be better on someone who has olive skin who wants a bit more color, but not on fair skinned folks.

Use every other day , hard to rub in
danirene87 from Kennewick WA
it was not easy to apply, didn't rub in evenly and dried to fast. I was left very streaky.

I have very very fair skin. I have used the original Fake Bake which I really liked but was just a tad too dark for my natural skin color. This new product which is for fair skin is the best. The application is easy. The cream goes on smoothly and never streaks. The color is natural. I can not say enough good things about this product.
Mountainmama from Georgia
No odor and no orange looking skin- this is so easy and effective. I have freckles and fair skin- now have an even tan- love it!!
Neely from Columbus, MS
I love the fact it comes with application gloves.
Jules from Colorado
Having to use gloves to apply is cumbersome and causes uneven application
Angie from Brookville, OH
I love this product!! I was hesitant at first about purchasing because of previous experiences with self tanners on my fair skin. This product is totally amazing! No streaks or orange color. Totally natural looking. A must have for anyone with fair skin wanting that natural looking color.
Mae from Washington, DC
Lotion was GREEN.
Kirsten from Tuscaloosa, AL
I use this after I get out of the shower, my only problem is I can't reach my back very well. But other than that it's amazing. It really does the job.

I found Fake Bake (fair) to be the best tanning solution out there. Through the years, I've tried just about everything and all were too orange or too dark. Using a mitt, this spreads evenly and looks pretty darn natural. It's a little pricey but to get a natural tan look I'll pay what it takes. Be sure to exfoliate well, particularly before the first use. I found it did rub off slightly on my wash cloth when showering the next morning but did not come off on clothing. During summer of 2017, I purchased three tubes and two mitts.

I like that this product produces a natural looking tan. I can easily control the hue and the scent is light and pleasant.
ginganinga from Idaho
I absolutely adore this product. It is so easy to apply and is literally fool proof. I use a mit when I apply it and have never had an issue with streaking. It also looks extremely natural no orange at all. I am extremely pale and a red head so tan never looks right on but this one did the trick!
