Most Helpful Positive Review Very easy product to use Loved using this product, it gave me a salon worthy manicure in the comfort of my own home! Only downfall is the actual size of the light
Most Helpful Critical Review Works pretty well- with a few adjustments I just used this set to do my fingers and toes, along with a RCB gel color I bought separately. I had to do 2 cycles of the lamp after every coat to get it to cure properly. Also, I had to do my thumb separately from the rest of my fingers. On the first try, the color wiped off on the side of my pinky and the side of my thumb because they weren't all the way under the bulbs when I had all 5 fingers in at once. So, this quadrupled the time it took. That's not great, but I guess the value is still pretty good. It comes with $30 worth of prep, base, and top coat, so even though the lamp itself is super cheap, it works out ok.

The light feels cheap and plastic-y and is low wattage but it works alright. Just to be safe I cure more than once. The nail polish of this brand could be a little better too. Overall though, it's not a bad starter kit. TIP: 1) make sure to use thin coats of whatever you're applying. You can always layer up, much better than having to restart because you used to much polish and it won't cure all the way through. 2) READ THE DIRECTIONS...it seems like some people aren't wiping their nails after completing curing. They don't "dry". They remain tacky unless you wipe them off, even if you fully cure them.
Works great, long lasting! 5

Worked very well. Following the instructions is important, after top coat wipe nails with the purify to remove the tackiness. I know this does not seem right when your nail is wet/tacky, but it works! Trust the instructions! I used a Red Carpet gel color as well and my manicure lasted a solid 12 days. The only peeling I had was my own fault, from getting paint on the cuticle so as my nail grew, the paint lifted. I also am not kind to my manicure, hand washing dishes every day and such, so 12 days is great!

Led light sucks. I had to do it about 6 times to get them really dry and the nail polish are very bad had to put literally 7 coats to get the actual color.
SAVES TIME AND MONEY 5

After about 5 times I finally got the hang of it. My salon is about 30min away from my house. This kit is perfect when I want my nails done but don't have time to drive to the salon. Not to mention it also saves a little money. I like to use those nail polish strips and then use the Red Carpet clear gel on top.
I would not buy this again. 2

I was excited to use but took me and my sister forever with the light!! Would not recommend.
Great starter kit 5

Got this as a birthday gift from my husband. The gel nail polish definitely takes practice. Great started kit and has all of the essentials you need.
Light Doesn't work 2
Paddison from Oregon
I went through 5 or 6 cycles of the light trying to cure my nails and they were still wet and sticky. Made sure to use nail polish that specifically mentioned this light too.
I wouldn't purchase this again 1

The light feels very low quality. I was mid paining my nails (first use) and then the light just wouldn't turn on again. The nail polish seems okay but very sticky. I would go with a different light/polish if you're looking into this one.
Love it but it takes practice! 5

Purchased this because I didn't want to pay to go to nail salon anymore. My first try turned out decent, I would say make sure you use thin coats and I would also suggest curing the pinkie and thumbnail more. I noticed those nails didn't turn out.. but other than that I would say this is a great set!
Takes practice but worth it 5

I read all the reviews before buying and was hesitant. I will say, my first try came out terrible. My second was better but still not good. By my third, I got nearly perfect salon looking nails. It takes PRACTICE and it takes TIME. I cured twice between each step as opposed to the suggested once. It was a game changer. Before the final step(brilliance coat), I cured it a third time. My nails have not chipped or peeled. Make sure you get each coat to the edges of the nail, it makes a big difference. I'd definitely recommend this if you're willing to take the time to learn the curve and have patience!

Worth the money 5

I am very happy with this purchase and considering the price and convenience of being able to do a manicure at home, the price was worth it to me. I am not one to do manicures on myself but this one was easy and the turn out was professional, in my opinion.
Disappointed 1

This product does exactly what it says however the polish chips and peels easily. In all fairness, I tried this then took apart the fans in the house and cleaned them.
Not worth the money 1
Eve from Ann arbor
I purchased this and a day later it all peeled and chipped off. The nail polish is so thin, if you apply two layers of the color it's so transparent it looks like a top coat, if anything. Very disappointed, and returned it the next day.
Just what I was looking for 5

Nothing can beat going to the salon and having your nails professionally done, but this is a close second. I purchased this to be able to stretch my visits to the salon. I often chip just one nail and have to go in right away. I used this on one nail and it worked great. I used the recommended time and had no trouble with curing. It was quick and easy. I even tried just the tip of one nail to see if I could patch a small chip, and that worked great. I highly recommend.
Thin! Coats! 4

This kit is great if you are just wanting a basic gel manicure at home. I got it because I wanted to no go to the salons as things start opening again. The key is to do SUPER thin coats. The instructions say 2 coats but depending on the color you may need three as it is WAY better to do thin coat, cure, another thin coat, cure etc. Also, making sure you use a paper towel and then liquid that comes with it to thoroughly clean the nail after curing the topcoat. I thought some of mine were not curing, until I polished them and they were totally fine. That being said, they look amazing when done correctly.
Good starter set 4

I don't understand the low reviews, this is quick and does what it's supposed to, nails weren't tacky at all
Must Follow Every Single Direction and Go Slow 5
Hollylujah from Little Rock
I got the best gel manicure on the first try using the starter kit. It paid for itself in one use. The directions must be followed EXACTLY AS WRITTEN. If it says THIN COAT then only use a thin coat and GO SLOW. Your patience will be rewarded.

Not worth the money. The polishes are great but the light is cheap and doesn't cure your nails. Even after multiple attempts (even had a girlfriend try it out) the light is not powerful enough to dry your nails. Very disappointed in the product, especially for the price point. Back to painting my own nails until the Corona virus is over!
Red Carpet Manicure Kit Works! 5
Justine from NJ
I was home wondering what to do about my nails given the current stay at home mandate. I have NEVER done my own nails and needed an option. Let's face it, most of us are just used to leaving it to the professionals. Having zero experience, the results were impressive and certainly better than lifting nails or certain breakage. I will not go into the detail about reading the directions, as Jess (below) was very informative on this subject. Two things I will add - the starter kit LED is not high powered, so you will need more time to let your nails cure through the three cycles of structure, polish and top coat (called Brilliance). Patience is key, so plan accordingly as it will take several 45 second iterations per step. You will not be running out the door in 30 minutes. Second, recommend purchasing Erase or similar to remove your current gel. I started with pure Acetone and it took much longer than Red Carpet Erase product. Unsure of the difficulties from several negative reviews, but if you need a reasonably priced option, I would highly recommend trying the kit.
Does the trick! 4
Angie from Riverside, CA.
This works pretty good. I bought this kit because my nail salon is about 30min from my house and it isn't always convenient to get my nails done. It took 3 times before I got the hang of it, but I did. You just have to make sure you follow the directions and not paint your nails too thick.
you MUST read and FOLLOW ALL instructions 5
jess from co
This is an excellent starter kit. it has everything you need except color. You just read all of the instructions for it to work and I feel it takes a little practice. Now that I've gotten the hang of it I can get my old gel nails off and new ones in about an hour, start to finish. You have to do thin layers of each polish, including base and top coat, you must use the blue Purify solution THEN swipe your nails with alcohol, then the first super liquidy step. Then once you've done and cured base, polish, and top coats use the blue Purify solution over the top to remove the tackiness. They are supposed to be tacky until you get to that last step. I work in dental care so between multiple hand washes and glove changes a day, I needed something I could donate home that would last and this is it! My manicures last at least 2 weeks, sometimes 3!
Highly disappointed 1

The concept of this is awesome. Appealing. I had Hope's that this would save me money in the long run from not going to the salon. And I could do some self care since I'm a busy single mom. However, the polish never cured. It stayed tacky. I even bought a 72W gel light, the polish dried a bit more, but never fully dried. I will be returning the kit to the store. It's a waste of money in my opinion since it doesn't work.
I would not buy this again, actually going to return 1
Shay from Pennsylvania
This product is nice for people who want to do it themselves at home. The directions need to explain which light is which. I dried each coat of polish (or structure) and it I have to keep my hand under the light for 2+ minutes each time. It's too time consuming at that point. Especially for it to not even dry anyways.
