I have extremely sensitive skin. I can't use any perfumes on my face and limited amounts of makeup otherwise I break out. This cleanser in combination with the toner keeps my skin looking great!

Comments about La Roche-Posay Effaclar Medicated Gel Cleanser:

This product is great. I have very sensitive skin, acne prone, combination skin. This product exfoliates the skin without irritating it. It can be drying if you don't apply a good moisturizer. The reviewers who claim that this was too drying probably did not use a good moisturizer (one that would have ceramides or hyaluronic acid). My skin is usually irritated by salicylic acid (the neutrogena cleansers with SA always irritate my skin, especially the orange one), which made me hesitate about getting this product, but I am happy that I got it because it leaves your skin very smooth and it helps with acne. Use this to treat the skin, not to take makeup off. Also, do not use around the eye area.

I needed a face wash that would combat adult hormonal acne. After buying $100 face wash that didn't work AT ALL, I tried this. Amazing. I wish I would've tried this months ago.

Comments about La Roche-Posay Effaclar Medicated Gel Cleanser:

I was not overly impressed with this product. I found it to be too irritating on my sensitive skin and did not work well enough to improve skin texture/break outs. The packaging was also a miss. The product is quite thin and would leak out of the tube frequently. I tried laying it on its side, etc, but eventually I just bought a travel size bottle to keep it in, preventing further leaks.

I have very acne prone skin, so I'm really just looking for a miracle at this point (33 and more acne now than in high school!). This cleanser is good, and somewhat effective-but is not a complete acne reduction cleanser in my case. I have combination skin and get a lot of acne around my nose/mouth area (oilier skin there). It does help to reduce some of the acne but isn't great at getting rid of already there problems.

Comments about La Roche-Posay Effaclar Medicated Gel Cleanser:

I am 22 and have struggled with acne since high school, but after moving to the LA area for school it became horrible. I developed painful cystic acne all along my jawline that was much worse than anything I'd experienced before; not even the topical medication or antibiotics I'd been prescribed in the past would make a difference.

I'd heard there was a cleanser from Laroche Posay that helped with cystic acne, so I decided to give this one a try. I noticed an improvement within days of switching to this cleanser. My acne isn't nearly as bad, although still not entirely clear. It can tend to dry the skin a bit around the blemishes, but I see that as the product working to clear my skin. I am on the slightly oily/combination side and don't find it too drying. Really happy with this product!

Hello, I was wondering if this product would help fade acne scars and if it would stop my face from becoming shiny throughout the day or not?

                    A:

Hi Jo! Please note that although our Effaclar Medicated Gel Cleanser does not make the claim to fade acne scars, it has been clinically tested to reduce excess surface oil by up to 47%, leaving skin less oily throughout the day. If you are looking for a product that will help assist in reducing acne scars we would recommend using our Pigmentclar Cleanser Deep Cleansing Brightening Foaming Cream which will help shed dark cells from skin's surface. You can find the cleanser here : http://tinyurl.com/y86u4ksn. We hope this information was helpful!
