Most Helpful Positive Review Big Love for Addict!! One critique I have is that our local Ulta has the 2012 version (gold band and gold pump build into top, no removable cover) but the first time I bought this, the one I bought was the 2014 reformulation (silver band and removable cap). The notes are different - 2012 has rose and tonka and mandarin orange along with the deep vanilla; the 2014 has only jasmine sambac, bourbon vanilla and orange blossom. The fragrances are very similar but different enough that I returned my first bottle, not sure why I didn't like it as well as I had when I tested it. I bought the 2014 but tried the 2012 in the store. Our store carried both, so I bought the older style and was thrilled with it. Last week I bought the older and the newest, so I could try the 2014 again. On second try, I really liked it. I enjoy both and find them similar - heady, deep vanilla and a bit of a smoky heat and perfect for wearing in cold weather. I would suggest knowing if you're trying on the version you're actually buying - the new one with silver on the bottle has a square on the box with Dior Addict inside. The old version has an iridescent box with Dior Addict written vertically down the side of the box. You may find the differences to be enough that you would have a preference. The one with gold and the stationary cap has more citrus and brightness before the deep vanilla kicks in, while the new one with silver and removable cap has a dirtier, edgier vibe which I think is the jasmine (it's wonderful!) and it stays more dirty but has the same deep boozy vanilla. The new one is a bit naughtier. They're both fabulous!!! I stock up!! Worth the price - lasts forever!!! Nothing else like it.
Most Helpful Critical Review Sense of smell is subjective I am a huge fan of floriental fragrances. I would say in my perfume collection a solid 65% are floriental fragrances, and to me they really missed the mark on this, and I would categorize it as a gourmand.
Smells is subjective and I could see someone really loving this if they love baked/boozy foods with a black licorice note. It smells like spiced alcohol (which alcohol is in the notes, but is done poorly in this fragrance) a really heavy mix of synthetic gourmand notes, and a VERY pronounced black licorice note that isn't listed, but even my husband could smell. I wonder if the black licorice note is from the bourbon and the sandalwood note mixed together.
This to me would only be appropriate for fall and winter. It is so cloying that in the spring and summer it could get offensive to others.
For me, the last con is that this smells very synthetic, which makes it come off as cheap for such an expensive perfume.

All of the reviews I read were amazing, but something in this fragrance makes me nauseous and gives me a headache. I did not enjoy the scent at all.

This is my signature perfume. I can put this on in the AM and be somewhere in the evening and strangers approach me to ask what I'm wearing. It's very long lasting, classy, sexy smell. I've tried many others and keep coming back to this. 👍

This is what is called Floriental. A mixture of floral and oriental Woody notes. The dry down is a slightly nutty vanilla musk. Totally beautiful!

As a perfume collector 4
Celia yvonne from California
At first wife, I was expecting MUCH more vanilla. I was so disappointed. But as a perfume collector I knew sometimes it takes a while to grow on you. Sp I let it sit, and it turned into a sexy, sophisticated, STRONG, perfume ready to announce its name everywhere it went. I stayed around to smell the sweet notes that eventually came out. Not sweet like cheap ariana grande, but a true sweetness. I classy one. This will be a.beautiful addition to any collection. Give it time to dry down, or maybe expect the unexpected. And you'll end up falling head over heels. This is a STRONG perfume. With a staying power of basically forever. Worth the money 110%

Good scent, mildly musk, nice spice aroma. Definite sex appeal, but not sensual. Scent is empowering and direct.

Perfect! 5

This is the one I've been looking for. Unique and sexy and just sweet enough. Ridiculously long lasting without enormous silage- people next to you in the elevator can enjoy it, but you won't fill a room (unless you use too much lol). I hope this never gets discontinued.
Not In My Wheelhouse 1

Too strong and too much masculine smelling sandalwood for my taste, coupled with a thick, nasty smelling tonka bean. This is the scent that let me know without doubt that I don't like the oriental category of fragrances at all.
The only perfume for me forever 5

I get compliments often about this perfume and people asking what it is. My biggest fear is one day they will quit making it. Love love love it.

If you love a rich base note in your fragrance this is beautiful! Dior Addict has been my go to winter fragrance for years. Not overpowering w/ just the right amount of richness and femininity. People are always asking me what fragrance I'm wearing!

It's a fragrance, use sparingly because the name of the product will make those around you want to be closer...
