Most Helpful Positive Review Great smell, works great for women with alopecia
I have alopecia, so I use this product to cover my scalp. Having thinning hair sucks, the dermatology treatment I've been receiving for the past few years has worked wonders for my hair's regrowth, but my hair is still thin on the top & top/back of my head. This product is the very best tinted dry shampoo I've ever used. I see so many negative reviews about the brown stuff getting on your hands if you touch your hair. I've never found one tinted dry shampoo that DIDN'T get brown stuff on my hands, pillow case, etc. So yes, you'll need to wash your hair before bed or cover your pillow case. This is a tinted hair product, not magic. That being said, this product has the least amount of stuff falling onto my face, clothing, etc. compared to the other 6 brands I've used. The smell is AWESOME, maybe a bit overpowering, but I've actually had compliments on how good I smell (lol). Also, this product gives my hair GREAT volume!
Most Helpful Critical Review I will not buy this again
I used it the day after washing my hair. It made it corse and thick and I have pretty silky hair, too silky and it get oily very quickly. I prefer the regular volmizing one, but let the sales associate convince me to purchase the one for brunettes. It leaves your scalp brown! That's not sexy. And it's missing the volume that the other gives you. Feel like I got tricked by that associate.

This is the worst dry shampoo I have ever used. It makes your hair feel dirtier and the brown residue gets all over your face and hands.

Probably won't buy again. Super expensive and has a very weird texture.
Not great but covers grays

I love the original Detox, but this formula is subpar. It is extremely runny during application, and tangled my hair more than it absorbed any oils. My scalp is also extremely itchy.
Dry Shampoo Root Touch Up in One!

I love the original Drybar dry shampoo but this is even better, especially if your a brunette. It keeps my hair looking great for days. It's a great root touch up between colorings. A little goes a long way and yes, you will have to rinse your hands off after you use it. But that is no big deal. I will never be without this product.
BEEEEEST Dry shampoo EVR!

I barely used the product once, and suffered with itchy scalp for 3 days (even after 2 washes). Makes hair super crusty, and dries out scalp.

I was disappointed in this product! In my hair it did an okay job as a dry shampoo, but it dyed EVERYTHING brown. It dyed brown all over the bathroom, up my nose, in my ears, my skin and hairline were extra dark. It sat in the wrinkles in my skin and I had to wipe everything down after. Every time I touched my hair it dyed my fingers and nails brown. I normally love Dry Bar products but I did not like this at all!

This stuff is like a can of 80s hairspray with a lot of wash out brown hair color thrown in. After using just a bit of this I can literally stick my hair straight up in the air and have it stay there. The color they put in it to make it brown gets absolutely everywhere and rubs off on everything. Definitely will not be getting this again. I do not recommend this to anyone. It's such a waste of money

I hate washing, drying, and styling my hair, so tend to use quite a bit of dry shampoo. This stuff is awful. It may not leave a white cast, but the brown it leaves behind gets on everything. Everything. It has also wrecked my scalp. My head started itching almost immediately after I applied it the first time. Thinking it must be a fluke, I used it a few more times. Sure enough, the same thing happened. I've stopped using the product, but now have to figure out how to rehab my scalp. Don't buy it.

Like the product for few minutes actually had in my hair but HATE the brown residue/color left on hair that made me shower ASAP to wash out so wasn't all over my body, face and clothes. Also used the travel size that was a lighter brown color and again a mess in my car and all over my clothes. Disappointed!

Bought this on a whim, and it was definitely a mistake. It smells amazing, but it makes my hair very stiff and gives a sticky feeling. It also doesn't soak up oil or get rid of shine like dry shampoo is supposed to do. It acted as sticky hair perfume. Definitely do not recommend!
makes my hair texture feel crunchy/stiff

I bought this in store (along with the "restore" haircare kit by Living Proof) and the bottom line is: I was underwhelmed by it. I've heard of good things by the Drybar, and this is the first product I've purchased of their's. I'm a little off-put to buy something else. First: it leaves a reddish tint to my hair, and the dye is very visible on my scalp. I have cool-toned brown hair, so the dye is very noticeable. Then, the odor is unnatural smelling and strong. It was pleasant at first, but it became so overbearing anytime my hair would fall — and I'm sure there's got to be some not-so-great ingredients added for that "perfume." Lastly, it doesn't actually do what it promises: conceal oils the hair produces in between washes. I've tried a little amount, I've tried a lot. I have tried to experiment with this product to the best of my ability and to make my money spent worthwhile. It's very hard to work into your hair, while it promises to be lightweight. My hair is still just as oily, if not more, before using — just with splotchy, reddish dye and a strong odor.

This is one of the few dry shampoo products that I have used that doesn't have "that smell". Love how it texturizes when I'm done styling, but, as with most dry shampoos, still leaves my hair feeling tangly after a while. I do love the fact that is has color to it that masks those pesky grays, instead of leaving a white residue on my hair. Overall, a great multitasking product.
This one is going back!

I have used Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo before, and I really like it. This time when I got to store, I saw the brunette one and decided to try it, since my only complaint about the regular one is the white residue that it leaves behind. I wish I had read the reviews before I bought it! Not even the cheapest brands I have tried before were as bad as this one. It made a mess, everything was dark brown, my hands, my forehead, my brush, the sink....and the hair felt so coarse and stiff, it seemed I had used hair spray. Awful!!! Next day the stiffness was still there, and when I washed my hair, the brown color could be seem going down the drain!

I tried this for the first time a few days ago (Monday). On Sunday I washed my hair and then on Monday I sweated a little during the day so before bed I popped some of this in my hair..... BAD. IDEA. Whenever I touched my hair, STILL HOURS AFTER APPLYING, my hands were brown from the product. It felt like there was hairspray in my hair... and the worst part? WHEN I TOOK A BATH TUESDAY NIGHT MY BATH WATER WAS BROWN.... BROWN..!!!! from the dry shampoo. dont use. so nasty.

Gross grossssss gross. I used this for the first time today's and am returning it. It transferred color on my brush, my forehead, my hands. And it made my hair feel super coarse and tangly. I'd rather use the white one and deal with working it in than this one and I my hair feeling this coarse and sticky.

Can't decide how I feel about it

I had been using the living proof regular dry shampoo. I liked it alot but it made my hair look greyish on top which most dry shampoos do. I decided to try this dry shampoo because I am brunette and it works good to make hair less greasy but it makes me hair feel absolutely disgusting. It makes me hair feel so itchy compared to other dry shampoos and it is really difficult to style. Might just be my hair but I think the living proof worked better.
Too sticky and color transfers everywhere

Will be returning and getting the original dry bar detox dry shampoo. This dry shampoo isn't the same, it makes my hair sticky and hard to style. The brunette color gets all over my face and clothes if I'm not careful.
I would not buy or recommend!

I got given this product from my bestie, she has light brown hair so it didn't work for her. Mines super dark, so she passed it my way. Well I used it for the first time, washed my hands like it recommended. It's like 20mins later and every time my hair touches my face I turn brown and blotchy, or I scratch my head it turns my fingers brown... like what!? Dry shampoo is supposed to make my life a little easier! Haha but instead I need to go shower so I don't walk around at work randomly turning brown. Kinda wondering if when I go to the gym if I'll turn brown when I sweat. Haha ether way! It would be a good gift for someone you hate, in now 2nd guessing my friendship 😘 jk. But seriously. Don't buy unless you want your skin being a different color!

I bought a few cans of this because I'm a brunette and I love the original formula so I thought this is perfect. It is so gritty and is almost more of a hairspray. I sprayed 2 sprays in my hair and it's like glue. Cannot even run your fingers through it. Stay away from this product!
Stained my tub, all over my bathroom
Michaela from Morgantown, WV
This dry shampoo is good, but don't let your boyfriend get a hold of it. Especially if he is going to use half the can in a humid bathroom. Don't get me wrong, my boyfriend should have known better, but when he washed his hair, the dry shampoo stained my textured floor tub. There is a thin film all over my bathroom walls, counters and floor from using this product in humidity. I will NEVER buy again.
No no no no!!

Seriously DO NOT buy this! I knew I wanted to try Drybar Detox for a while, and I had planned on buying the original, but saw this on the shelf and grabbed it instead on a whim. This morning I tried it for the first time, and I couldn't have been more of a disaster! Yes it soaks up oil, but it also blasts seriously powerful brown powder everywhere!! It's all over my hairline, stained my hands, and I'm worried it's going to stain my sweater too. It's hard to wipe off (it looks like I'm wearing black face on my forehead—NOT A GOOD LOOK!!) Every time I touch my hair I get more brown powder on my hands, and it's transferring to everything I touch. I'll be returning it and grabbing the original instead, hopefully I have better luck with that!!
Stick with original formula
CVC from Dallas, TX
I have to agree with many of the other comments. The brown color transfers on everything. I had to wash my pillowcase after each use of this. I had to wash my hair twice to get all the color out. It left more of a gritty feeling. I will be sticking with the original formula.
