A skin-perfecting formula that provides deep-cleansing to oily, congested skin. Water-soluble Kaolin and Green clays combine with purifying extracts of Sambucus, Ivy and Lemon to remove excess oils and refine the skin's texture. Calming Cucumber and healing Sage soothe irritation, while refreshing Menthol revitalizes even the most tired skin. Contains no artificial fragrance or color. Professional recommendation advised.

How it works:

  • Naturally-absorbent, Bentonite and Kaolin clays absorb excess oil.
  • Astringent extracts of Sambucus, Ivy and Lemon remove excess oils and refine the skin's texture.
  • Menthol, Sage, Cucumber and Milk Proteins help calm the skin.

Comments about Dermalogica Dermal Clay Cleanser:

I bought this after endless searching for a product to rid of my clogged pores on my chin. I tried Dr Rembrandts microdermal abrasion scrub and while it made my skin soft, it did little for my pores. After just 2 uses of this clay mask I have noticed a huge difference. I use the toner after and my pores look so much smaller! it has a nice tingly sensation once you put it on which made me feel super clean. It hasn't dried my face out at all. It has definitely helped with my oily skin. the price is a little high, but worth it to me because I haven't found anything better!

Can this be used morning and night, or would it be better to use this only at night with the special cleansing gel in the morning (for a more gentle cleanse in the morning)? Or vise versa? I want to avoid overdoing it and know that too much cleansing can actually cause more oil production.

You can use dermal clay cleanser twice a day if your skin is very oily. If you are concerned about dehydrating your skin you can alternate with special cleaning gel depending on how your skin feels.

Is this product too strong to use with the Power Bright Trio? I am using all Power Bright products and the Resurfacing Cleanser and getting redness and acne breakouts as well. I do know not to use the Resurfacing Cleanser every night. Would you suggest a different lighter serum and a different Cleanser? I do use Essential Cleaning Solution since all these skin problems began. I have HIGHLY sensitive skin and am a huge Dermalogica patron from the very beginning!

We recommend not using Skin Resurfacing Cleanser for about a week and only use Essential Cleansing Solution while your skin returns to normal. Once your skin is back to normal we suggest that you use Skin Resurfacing Cleanser 3-4 times a week only.

My daughter has sensitive, very oily t-zone, but sometimes dryness on cheeks, acne prone skin. She has a lot of acne scarring and redness, what products would you recommend for her and which one would specifically help to get rid of the scarring? By the way, she just recently started using the precleanse and the special cleansing gel. So far she is loving them!

Breakout Clearing Overnight Treatment in the PM, and Skin Soothing Hydrating Lotion for AM underneath the C-12 Pure Bright Serum. She may use the Skin Hydrating Masque as needed for hydration.

                      Hello There:

Thank you for your interest in Dermalogica. Dermal Clay Cleanser is formulated for skin of excess oil that is congested. Clearing Skin Wash is formulated for Adult Acne prone skin that has inflamed breakouts, comedones and oily skin. If you have inflamed acne breakouts and comedones the Clearing Skin Wash will be a good choice for cleansing. If your skin is oily and congested with out inflamed breakouts then the Dermal Clay would be an appropriate choice for cleansing.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Hello! So I used to use dermal clay cleanser when I would have cystic acne from eating too much dairy and in the summer. I have oily skin but it isn't terrible. I also have small breakouts but they are almost always on my nose, chin or by the eyebrow. I've noticed trying other products made for oily skin can dry me out more than what I'm used to. In the winter (in Wisconsin) I typically don't use this face wash. What do you suggest I use for face wash/moisturizer for my skin day/night? Tia!

                      Hello Miss Robin:

Thank you for your interest in Dermalogica. You have a few options when it comes to cleansing the skin, first we recommend that you use the Precleanse before using your cleanser, it is for skin of all types that helps to dissolve oil-based makeup and the oils on the skin, it actually allows your cleanser to be more effective. The Dermal Clay Cleanser is formulated for skin of excess oil production and congested skin. If you are oily and congested, then this is the right product for you. The Clearing Skin Wash is for break-out prone skin and is for inflamed type breakouts and clears away excess oil, it is formulated for Adults so it does not dry out the skin. The Special Cleansing Gel is for all skin types, it will be appropriate for you if you have minimal breakouts. You may also consider using a spot treatment for the breakouts such as Overnight Clearing Gel in the PM. Please let us know if you do have any further questions.

                      Best Regards,

These are both clay based products which are good for absorbing excess oil from the skin. You can use Dermal Clay Cleanser as a masque and leave it on your skin for 5-10 minutes as a masque.

Thank you for your inquiry. For your skin our oily kit would be best for your skin. We also recommend using Clearing Mattifier as a treatment to reduce pore size. It is important to use Skin Refining Masque 2-3 times a week, exfoliate regularly and use Clearing Mattifier daily.
