Most Helpful Positive Review Better than the expensive stuff
I use this with the face wash twice a day. I'm 26 and have combo oily skin that's very prone to breakouts. In the last year I've developed hormonal cystic acne around my jaw, chin, and neck. After five days my skin had no new break outs and all of my existing spots were almost gone. It fades my scars and gets rid of my redness. I swear my freckles are even lighter. After a few months I got bored and started trying new products that didn't hold a candle to these ones. Not even some very expensive brands could compare. As soon as I had enough with my skin being gross and waisting my money, I went back to my Cetaphil. It's been three weeks since then and my skin is amazing. Every once in awhile I'll notice that I'm a little too shiny, but after blotting im good to go for the rest of the day. Definitely worth a try.
Most Helpful Critical Review Not That Good
I got this because I thought that this product has multiple benefits: oil control, sun protection, and moisturization. Unfortunately, it also came with an undesirable smell. It smelled like highly concentrated sunscreen. I hated the smell.
As for oil control, it was ok considering that I naturally produce heavy amounts of sebum, but next time I would go for a matte finish.
The only plus that I thought was great was the SPF of 30. As soon as I finish up this bottle, I would go looking for another moisturizer.

It goes on like a sunscreen not a moisturizer. I swear it absolutely absorbed my oil to the point I have painfully dry skin. Under my lip got tiny blisters! After they went away that area was extremely drier than the rest of my now dry face. It's painful! HOW is this recommended by dermatologists? I use the face wash by them and the clay mask two-three times a week. I'm 38 so I need help with my embarrassing acne and oil out put but this product gives me a whole new problem, which is direct contrast to its intended purpose. It's not a moisturizer or sunscreen. I wouldn't recommend this to any skin type!

As far as moisturizing, it does a good job. But it does not control oil at all. Will definitely be returning.

I originally left a two star review for this moisturizer after using it for about two weeks. After using it for a few months I have come to realize that it is actually pretty good. After washing my face my skin is Matte and a little bit tight, but as the day progresses my t- zone can get a little bit oily, especially on the forehead. I wouldn't say my skin is particularly oily, but it definitely does not stay dry the entire day. I am pretty much the definition of combination skin. For reference I use this with the Cetaphil daily cleanser.
This moisturizer has a thin almost watery texture. It's not enough to drip out of my hands when applying, but definitely moves more than say, a body lotion. When applying, there is a very noticeable white cast, but as you rub in the moisturizer more, it dissipates completely. When I first started using this I did not notice any difference when it came to oil, and I actually noticed my skin being even oilier than usual. After about 30 minutes I would look at my skin and still think I looked oily. I am guessing this was due to applying too little product. I started out by applying one, maybe one and a half pumps of product, but now I do 2 1/2. It is definitely a lot, but I apply it all over my face and down towards my neck a little bit. After about 10 minutes it all absorbs though. Back when I was using less product, it was hard to rub it in because it would dry so quickly, but now I know that's because I wasn't using enough. When applying, the moisturizer does not pill up or build up on the skin, it sinks in very well. Once dried my skin is left with a healthy sheen but not oiliness. It is great for applying underneath makeup because it leaves the skin soft and hydrated without feeling heavy or tacky. When it comes to sun protection, this works pretty well. I recently had a trip to a theme park where I forgot to put sunscreen on my shoulders and they got severely sunburnt, but the rest of my body and face tanned slightly. If you are like me and are looking to block out any tanning then I would recommend adding a secondary sunscreen on top. It is also worth noting that I sweat profusely on my face and this did indeed come off. On top of that, be careful when applying this near the eyes. If you rub your eyes and get it into your eyes it will burn.
That was my personal experience. If you use this injury immediate results are not what you expected, do you give it a little bit of time, your skin will get used to it. If you are on the earlier side that I would not recommend this, but if you have combination to dry skin then I definitely would.
I love this product!

I've used Cetaphil Daily facial moisturizer for years now and this oil control moisturizer corrects the one problem I felt I had with it!!
Makes skin more oily

I tried to like it but after about a month it still made my skin appear more oily.
Purchase any sunscreen but this one

I really tried to love this product since my dermatologist recommended it, but it's extremely greasy despite being labeled for oily skin? It also irritated my skin and I constantly got little whiteheads. I would only recommend this to someone with very dry skin that isn't prone to acne.
Great spf and oil control
P from TN
Keeps my oily skin moisturized and protected. My skin looks better after using for 3 months! if you allow it to dry properly before layering makeup (or just skip makeup altogether) you will be far less likely to end up with the problems mentioned in the negative reviews.

This definitely controls oil and helped clear up my cystic acne while also using the cerave acne foam wash and Tula acne gel. My face felt much dryer during the day but not overly dry. The sunscreen in it also goes on sheer and does not leave a white cast.
My favorite moisturizer ever!
Queeen from Atlanta
This moisturizer was recommended by my Dermotologist. After going through severe acne break outs, I had to use 2 different subscribed topical creams which left my skin with dry patches. I was using the Neutrogena moisturizer which dried out my skin a lot. This moisturizer really works wonders, it hydrates my skin without feeling heavy and absorbs Quickly. I no longer get oily, but that may be due to other factors. Recommend 100%
Great for my oily acne prone skin
Mona from Los Angeles
Recently changed my spf to this one due to my other spf made my skin red. I absolutely enjoy using this moisturizer! I have oily skin and did notice this didn't make me super oily while it did help out with oil control. I did notice that it's not extremely mattifying which I enjoy because I do like having a bit of moisture in my skin. I have pretty sensitive skin but noticed this doesn't cause me to breakout which is great because nearly any product causes me to do so! While it's also great under makeup I haven't had any problems with this product so far. It did feel like I had to do a leap of faith due to a lot of controversial reviews & lack of video reviews. However I am here to say, yes! Do try this product out! I've enjoyed this product for the past 3 weeks and could say it's a pretty good product. Overall very happy with this purchase.

I have very sensitive skin and skin that if you touch it a zit will come the next day. This is the only stuff that has helped clear my skin and keep it under control.
terrible for sensitive skin

it burned so badly when i put it near my eye area. the directions didn't say to avoid the eyes, and i would think i would want spf on as much of my face as possible. it burned terribly when i got to my under-eye area. i tried leaving it on the rest of my face, and the result was not 'oil control' at all. maybe you have to use it habitually to get that benefit. it's also weird for a product that's branded as "pro" to have undisclosed fragrances.
Made my face more oily than with out it

The best non greasy spf lotion!

This is the only spf lotion for someone with oily and greasy skin typically made worse by soft lotion. I've been using this for a couple years and I love that my face is moisturized and protected but not greasy. Lasts a long time too.
Only moisturizer that works for me!

I can't believe it's taken me so long to finally find a moisturizer that battles MY oil problems. I've tried high end and other drug store brands, but I'd still be oily, get oily mid day or even be oily shortly after applying. This Cetaphil product has been a lifesaver for me. At the end of the day I'm still not oily! Which is a first for me.
It's pretty good

So I don't use this as a moisturizer I just used it as a sunscreen for my face when I don't feel like wearing makeup because I have acne prone skin and I wanna protect my skin from scaring. So far it's been pretty great. I'm not sure why there are so many people complaining about it breaking them out unless they're not properly cleaning their skin. For me I do a double cleanse method. I use the garnier cleansing water first and then I go in with my Derma E salicylic acid face wash. Also before I apply the cetaphil moisturizer I tone my skin with my glycolic acid toner (Derma E) and apply my niaciminde serum (the ordinary) then apply my regular gel moisturizer from neutrogena then lastly I apply the Moisturizer as an SPF if I'm going outside for the whole day. Maybe what I do for my skincare might be able to help people with similar skin issues like me.
Okay without makeup
LEC2017 from Central Texas
This moisturizer felt fine alone and didn't bother my sensitive skin at all. However it did not sit well under my makeup at all. It caused me face to produce more oil than normal and separated my makeup very badly. I will not continue use.
mediocre as a sunscreen, bad as a moisturizer
Jac from Florida
I have been using the clean and clear oil controlling moisturizer for years now, and it's been a great product, but i just recently became aware of how bad the ingredients can be long term, so i wanted to look for a replacement. I decided to try this moisturizer since it was still drugstore, but didn't have any ingredients that i am uncomfortable putting on my face. I am not particularly oily, after washing my face, it is matte and a little tight, but as the day goes on my t zone gets a little greasy. I would say i have combo skin, i am usually more dry than i am oily and only get oily as hours pass. I also have clear skin, aside from one or two active pimples at a time. The original moisturizer from cetaphil was very greasy on me and actually burned a little, so i was hopeful that maybe this one would be different.
Unfortunately, the moisturizer is terrible. It applies very watery and absorbs almost instantly. It's to the point where you almost can't rub it in, it just stays where you put it. There was a mattifying effect for maybe like 30 seconds, then it just turned greasy and shiny. As with the original formula, it leaves my skin slightly sticky and feels very heavy on the skin. I haven't noticed any signs of clogged pores, but it definitely feels like it would clog my pores. The scent is not artificial, but there is definitely a scent to it. Kinda just the typical skin care smell that fades within 10 minutes. I wear makeup very regularly and was hoping this would be okay under makeup, but it is too greasy for my primer to mattify. I think the only thing this is good for is if you want a sunscreen for your face that won't leave you all white and smelly. Even still, there's tons of facial sunscreens that are out there that protect from sun AND are mattifying. Overall i am disappointed with this product and would definitely skip on the cetaphil moisturizers as a whole.
Great for combo skin

I have acne prone combo skin. It is my daily moisturizer as it has SPF 30 in it.

Definitely wouldn't recommend! It just makes you skin even more oily than before
Only if you NEED to financially
Val from New Jersey
Cetaphils products are great for being drugstore, probably the best drugstore brand. But if you have acne prone sensitive skin, INVEST IN A NON DRUGSTORE PRODUCT!!! I promise you, products like Rhonda Allison or other higher quality AU LAIT moisturizers don't clog up pores like this one does.
Yes It's a great moisturizer

I bought this in hopes that it will keep my skin matte throughout the day. THIS MADE MY FACE EVEN MORE OILY THAN BEFORE. DO NOT RECOMMEND IF YOU HAVE OILY SKIN !!
Nessa from Phoenix
I wanted to love this product because it feels amazing on the skin. However; looking at the ingredients, one thing really stood out. triethanolamine is know to pose a danger to humans. Even though it's considered safe for short period of time on human skin. Prolonged exposer can cause problems. Also for those complaining about it stinging your eyes; is this ingredient. It is know to irritate eyes & cause eye problems. Yikes!!!! Returning & my search continues for a safe sunscreen.
