Most Helpful Positive Review OMG...
I had heard about AG Recoil on several forums but refused to bite because I was trying to curb my product junkie habits. However I felll when they had the line b1g1 50%. I only regret not trying it sooner. I folliw the curly method and this curl activator is one of the best that I have tried. The results totally justify the price point and a little goes a long way. The slip is amazing and I had to decrease the amount that I was using because of it!! This may be my first Holy Grail product ever!
Most Helpful Critical Review I'm torn here.
I have wavy, barely curly hair that is long (mid-back length). I like to air dry my hair. This product leaves it crunchy, but when dry if I scrunch it a little the crunch goes away mostly. So, it's not entirely what I want - no one wants crunchy curls - but it is strong hold and can handle being...well...handled. It is sticky when applying to my hair. Day 2 there's tons of frizz. It's OK but not great. I'm on the lookout for a better product.

Not for fine wavy/curly hair
Sammie from Central Florida
I heard great things about this product, so when it went on sale I had to try it. I thought it would work wonders but it smells like dog shampoo, and felt my hair less wavy/curly than my drugstore products that are way less expensive than this! It felt my hair feeling gritty, frizzer than usual and weighted down. I only used a pea sized amount.
I LOVE YOU, NEVER CHANGE

This is my holy grail hair cream. I have 2b-3a, very fine, medium-high porosity, bleached & color-treated, waves/curls and this stuff makes my hair look AMAZING. I use about 3-5 pumps on my shoulder length locks with lots of water. I've searched high & low for a better product and one just simply doesn't exist for me. I will buy this for always.
This product weighed my hair down
Liz from Phoenix Az
Didn't moisturize or bring the curl back to my hair. I tried using more or less of the product and it never worked for my hair. Brands I used from the grocery store for half the price worked better. I feel like I wasted my money.

I use this with gel. I feel like my hair became frizzy as the day went on. I'm going to return it. It also smells like dog shampoo.

At first it seemed like it might be good until my hair dried and it was greasy. Yuk.

This gives good curl definition and with a bit of gel, eliminates frizz.
My go to for my 3A Hair! love it!

Bought this product 6 months ago and It does wonders for my curl pattern. I have hair dryness level requires me to use products that have moisture but nothing that's to deep or heavy. I've experimented which other curly hair products that we here to rich and brought me down to a body wave which isn't bad if I wanted to go for that look. Great thing about ulta is you can return products for full refund. I read others reviews saying it leaves your hair crunchy and yes that's happened to me in two instances: one I put the product on my hair when it was to wet and two I put too much product. That's my experience with my texture and dryness level.
After showering I comb and apply a leave-in conditioner and scrunch my hair upside down. And I let my hair air dry till it's about 80 dry. Then I section out my hair and start from the base and work my way up.
Rubbing about a nickel size of the product in my hand I start applying from my roots down to my ends in a patting motion like I'm softly clapping on my hair. After I reach my ends I gently rake my fingers through the section and scrunch to make sure the curls clump as evenly as possible. Adding more product as needed. The product goes from a clearish white to white once warmed in your hands. Which helps to see how much product is on your hands. After choose how I want to part my hair I work on my roots to give more volume if need be with texture spray.

I see a lot of reviews saying this product leaves their hairs stiff. Try recrunching it dry with you hand after its stiff and it goes away! That works for me!

Leaves your curls crispy

I continually try to find a product for curly hair that doesn't leave it feeling crispy and stiff. Starting to think such a product doesn't exist.
My go to product
Loly07 from Orlando
I have 4b texture and 3c, I use only one product and this is it.
They look super hydrated and happy with tons of definition. Smells amazing.
Very good product for my 2C hair!
MrsE from Seattle
I'm new to the curly girl method, but a move to an extremely humid climate reminded my hair that it is, in fact, very wavy. And frizzy.
So that's fun.
This product, though, used in conjunction with Ouidad's Feather Light Creme, is magic. I use a nickel sized drop, rub it between my hands to emulsify it, apply it with prayer hands after forming clumps, plop for 20 minutes, and then diffuse with low heat at the roots until dry.
My frizz is cut down by 2/3. I do not anticipate ever being completely frizz free given how porous my hair is, but I am thrilled by this reduction in frizz!! The product does not leave my hair crunchy or crisp. The curls hold! Just yesterday I was outside for 2 hours in 15,20 mph wind and the curls held.
I really do recommend this product.
I will definitely purchase RE:COIL again!!

I use this product on damp hair, I just purchased this product a week ago and LOVE it!!!! My hair is mostly curly with an area that is wavy, but now it's curly!! My hairdresser was shocked when I walked in and saw how curly my hair was. I love this product!!!

I have been playing around with this product for a few months. I experiment a lot, trying to figure out what is the bare minimum i need for shiny, fluffy, defined curls - with my hair, I want it all, not just results that are "good enough." If my hair isnt perfect, that means i still have work to do. This product is the difference between pretty good, and perfection. I have 2c-3a baby fine hair, so its mostly wavy with some nice ringlets, not color treated, but i do have greys. My routine is: clarify, cowash, rake in both a light leave-in and this curl cream on soaking wet hair, scrunch out excess water, plop, scrunch/glaze gel, diffuse until 100% dry, then scrunch out the crunchiness. This product has many conditioning agents but no oils, so its exceptionally lightweight, yet moisturizing. The stickiness some people feel is from the starches, and it is what gives the hair light hold and definition. It also texturizes the hair and for me, the increase in volume is NOTICEABLE. My hair is soft and baby fine, so i really love the added texture. If you apply on soaking wet hair, you wont feel any stickiness when dry. It also leaves my hair noticeably shiny and conditioned. It does everything. If you need more moisture, try a good leave-in underneath. If you want more hold, use a gel on top. Play around with it before you make up your mind, because it behaves differently depending on how you apply it. For me, i cant go without it!

I did not know a curl cream could be this good! It's my new go to!!
I have fine 2a-2b waves. I used this with AVC detangler spray and I'm getting 2c results!
My husband even noticed the difference🤩!

I struggled to find something great for my hair, then I got recommended this product and it changed the game for my hair. I have gotten a lot of complements on how nice, and curly my hair looks. I would 100% recommend this product .

I really like this product! Not much hold so I need to use gel on top of it but I highly recommend. My routine is wash, comb with a leave-in, this and then gel. (for reference 3a, high porosity, medium density hair)
Did the job but was too heavy
Mermaid Wannabe from new york
I have long fine hair and a lot of it, I do get a soft subtle wave throughout my hair and most days i air dry. I get success to amplify my wave with sea salt spray but I always find that it makes my hair tangle up more and seems to appear a bit more greasy. This product definitely did what it claimed, I noticed it really molded and held my waves. It was too heavy for my hair and weighed it down. As others have stated, it did make my hair kinda stiff and sticky, I was able to brush it out after it dried, the waves stayed. Great product but not great for my hair. Probably better suited for those with thick hair.
No more bad hair days

Anyone with curly hair has tried probably thousands of products. And we all stuck with maybe a cheapy drug store because it worked. But it never did anything other than make your curls a little better than ok. Then curl creams etc came out. If you're like me..3A/3B curls...the creams and a lot of these gels claiming to be for curly hair just don't work!! This AG recoil when used properly works great. It actually coils my curls so
They are spiraled. I never knew my hair could even look like this. It doesn't get frizzy in the rain and a little water, quick scrunch makes ...hair is still great on day 2. You absolutely HAVE to put it on soaking wet hair after u get out of shower. Do not take any of the water out with a towel or tshirt. If ur hair feels too wet..just squeeze a little more out in shower before applying but don't dry. I usually let mine air dry for best results. Once dry, there is a slight cast to break then the hair is so soft (not crunchy) underneath. But if I need to dry...upside down with diffuser. I hope these products stay natural and they don't change the formula.

I tried this because it was on sale but I'm not really a fan. I styled my hair with it at night and the minimal definition I received was gone by the end of the next day. Not great for more coily/frizzy textures
Had it for the past 4 months

It is really good.. a little goes a long way I have a lot of hair (Curley 2c/3a) and I part my wet hair (towel dried but not toooo dry) use a little bit in each section and diffuse it with water to make the product not manageable and not just stick to one area and 👍👍👍 amazing. It does sometimes flake if I touch it too much after my hair dries however.... I think it may be the mixture of it with another product. Soo I'm still giving it 5 stars.. not disappointed.
It WORKS but follow the directions!

I nearly didn't purchase this product because of the reviews saying it made their hair feel sticky and gross. As someone with fine, low density hair I try to stay away from anything that can feel too heavy or oily. But I'm glad I gave it a try because I had amazing results with this.
The best advice I can give you is to read the instructions. Use a SMALL amount and apply to WET hair. Don't go pump-crazy because you don't need as much as you think. And it's definitely better to apply this to wet hair, not damp hair. Wet hair will help to distribute the product more evenly and prevent you from using too much.
For my long, fine, 2C hair I wash, condition, apply a leave-in to soaking wet hair, comb it through, scrunch, then emulsify a dime sized amount of this product between my hands and glaze over my hair, then scrunch. Plop for 20 minutes, scrunch any excess water out with a tshirt, then diffuse. Once hair is dry, wait about 20 minutes for hair to fully cool down (if diffusing) then scrunch out the cast. If the cast is too strong, rub a couple drops of hair oil between your hands, gently glaze the hair, then scrunch. Oils will help break up the cast if needed.
Basically this is my new HG styler. It gives my hair definition I didn't even think capable. I really do think this can work for anyone, but experimenting with the amount you need is critical for success.
Works for me!

I have lots of fine, curly hair. Maybe a 3a on the curl chart. This give my definition and coils. Love it!
