Most Helpful Positive Review A few tips to make this work
The first time I used this, it was a disaster. Sooooo shiny, with a grayish undercast… I thought I'd made a mistake. But I really wanted it to work - I had been using the Serum, and that wan't working for me. My complexion always looked dull, and it was too time consuming to blend it without streaking. I also didn't want to go back to the powder foundation. My skin is on the oily side, and with the powder, my skin always ended up even oilier by mid-day.
So I persisted with the Complexion Rescue, and now I absolutely love it. My skin has a nice, illuminated appearance, without looking too oily. The level of hydration is perfect for my skin.
I can tell from some of the negative reviews that they are making some of the same mistakes that I initially did, so here are a few tips I found that make it work beautifully.
1. Don't use too much. I can't emphasize this enough. A pea sized amount is all you should use. Think of a pea, and then make that size happen on the brush (Tip 1-a; use the brush). I dot that all over my face and blend until the brush feels pretty dry against my face.
2. After blending, let it soak in for a few minutes. If you try to put Mineral Veil, or Warmth on right away, it gets cakey and messy. Walk away and do something else for a few minutes.
3. Coverage is light to medium. If you have dark circles or red spots, dab on a concealer over trouble areas.
4. I use Warmth and a spot of blush but depending on skin tone, you may not need these. Coverage is pretty sheer, so if you are lucky enough to have some nice, natural color, this product won't hide it.
5. Don't skip the Mineral Veil unless you like super-shiny skin. The mineral-based sunscreen gives a white-ish shine which the mineral veil takes away. But - this is my favorite part - your skin still appears nicely dewey and lit from within after the dusting of mineral veil.
Most Helpful Critical Review Beware: Size is now MUCH smaller
The tube size has been changed significantly, but the price has not. This now costs about $14/ounce MORE than it did previously. This makes the product much too expensive for what it is. I hate how they kept the outside box the same and didn't change the external packaging at all. Seems very sneaky. I've loved the product for several years, but now the hugely increased cost per ounce means I might as well buy a better quality foundation for the price. Sigh. Hate when good things change.

I am 25, normal/dry skin. I stopped wearing foundation everyday because it was taking too much time and it was causing a lot of clogged pores, even if I double cleansed every time I took my makeup off.
I started using this as a means to stop wearing a lot of makeup. Its perfect to use everyday since it also has SPF and I live in Arizona. In 110 degree weather, this is PERFECT and I don't feel like my makeup is melting off my face. It is a more natural look but when I need to cover some scars or blemishes I just add a little bit of concealer and I'm good to go.
It is hydrating and I can see if some people might think that it makes their skin oily but since I have dry/normal skin this is a much better option for me than foundation.
This is the only face makeup I've purchased multiple times and I like pairing it with a cream blush for a more natural look.
Looks and feels great on but...
AmberL11 from Virginia
I have combination skin and I rarely ever actually get pimples or anything. But for some reason after a week of using this, my skin started breaking out. Which sucks because this looks amazing on, and it's SO lightweight.
Kate from Colorado
So at first I really liked this—it goes on easy w/a beauty blender and it is super lightweight and hydrating with skin friendly ingredients. But it oxidized horribly and turned me orange, creating a VERY obvious line near the neck. The color started out matching perfectly, the line appears after it sets in and gets that exposure. Additionally, it is very light coverage at best and even when I layered, it never covered up my skin imperfections. This is often classified in the beauty world as a top pick cc cream but IMO this really is just a tinted moisturizer.
Really happy with this purchase
SimplyKim from California
Due to wearing a mask at work all day, I stopped wearing foundation makeup.
Now when I use foundation I feel overly made up...
You've heard the rule for older ladies, less is better... I finally agree!
Anyway, using just my MAC skinfinish mineral powder was not enough, so I searched for a tinted moisturizer. I bought this, based on reviews, Thank You!
I love it.... gives me just enough but not too much!!

Perfect for combination skin

I apply it after the moisturizer cream. It works for me as SPF protection and foundation with light-medium coverage depends on the amount of the product. i really like that It has perfect color match to my skin. Perfect for light summer make up!
Perfect & Light for Summer!
Amanda from NH
I was looking for a lighter coverage summer makeup with an spf. Most my foundations are just too heavy for daily hot weather use.
This is extremely light on the skin but provides just enough coverage. I don't feel like I have anything on but it evens out my redness with a light coverage.
I knew for sure this was a hit when my usually not makeup observant boyfriend asked me what I had been using that makes my face "glowy and model-y" because he liked it! This does provide a dewy finish which is good for a nice all over glow. However, I imagine if it's too much you could tame with some setting powder.
Wanted to love this
Ulta from Pennsylvania
I have very sensitive acne and rosacea prone skin and this never broke me out. When I first put it on it feels light and offers sheer coverage but as the day goes on the "radiance" just keeps intensifying to the point that I look embarrassingly shiny - but not oily to the touch. I've never had another product do this before and don't like to use powder because it clogs my pores and emphasizes texture. I hope they'll expand this product to include a more matte version like other brands have done.
Krystle from Ohio
I have the second lightest shade and it is still too orangey looking. Goes on well and looks good besides color is not good. Nice and light coverage.
This is the one
Heho from Florida
I used to wear it cosmetics CC cream but that became too heavy after a while this one is perfect. I am fair-skinned, large pores, mature combo skin and I got the shade Birch 1.5 this doesn't cake or flake it's just right
Good for light coverage
mickeyxz from California
This product was exactly what I was looking for, but I understand the bad reviews. I do have to mix it with my moisturizer when I apply it and have to use a setting powder to get rid of the shine. BUT if you're looking for a light coverage every day spf this is for you.
Why does this have such high reviews?
KB from Columbus
I genuinely don't understand why this has so many high reviews. It dries really weird--it looks flakey and horrible. Even if I moisturize and prep my skin. Not a fan.
Cakey & Lightest Shade Too Dark For Me
Jess 777 from Parsippany, NJ
I frequently struggle with makeup being too orange & dark for my skin tone. Opal 01 looked like it might have worked for me when looking at the model, but clearly the product is a lot darker when you put it on. It looks orange, cakey and cheap on me. Immediately returned. Even if this was my shade it blended so horribly it wouldn't be worth it.
Shari from Boynton Beach, Fl
I am so happy with this product. I wanted something light for the summer but would still give my skin some coverage. It goes on light and gives a finished Dewey look. I had purchased a different product but it was very drying to the skin so I decided to go with the Bare Minerals. I've used BM skincare products and have been very happy with them. I highly recommend this tinted gel cream.
Not for you if you have acne.
Holliberri from Anderson SC
I'm a committed bare essentials fan, and have used the original foundation for almost 10 years. It is the only product that will not break me out or exaggerate my acne problems. I was looking for a sheer product that would help moisturize my skin for a quick fix in between using my regular foundation, something for "on the go" type days. I found this product and was extremely excited to try it out, I've had such a wonderful experience with the original foundation so I thought I would give it a try. Wrong, after a week of using the tinted moisturizer my skin went crazy!! Upon further investigation and actually reading the ingredients list I realized why!! The second ingredient is coconut akalines, which if you are an acne victim you know causes major breakouts. This also contains lauryl lysine, which for those of you don't know is also a coconut derivative. Both of those ingredients are known to clog your pores, which causes breakouts! This ingredient is okay for most people that do not have acne, but for those of us who do, it's not a good combination for our skin.
No coverage and literally PEELED like a bad sunburn
Maryluvsmakeup from IL
I thought with all the great reviews this would be perfect for summer. It was literally the sheerist coverage I've ever seen. I also broke out into tiny whiteheads after using it. An hour after applying the product caked and looked like it was peeling off like a sunburn. Regret buying 100%
C-RAE from Texas
Personally, it feels a little too greasy to me after awhile. I live in Texas though, so it's a little more humid. I would probably be better off using a setting powder with it. Color was pretty good and it's a really nice option for summer when you want an even complexion but nothing cakey looking/feeling.
Isa from 65473
It's not moisturizing, clings, but good spf no white cast. definitely not blendable
looks oily on skin
JP from Houston TX
I have combination skin and this product doesn`t control the oily shine as it claims. it needs powder. NOT for oily or combination skin type.
the color is perfectly match my skin
i use it as every day SPF cream
Rachael from Texas
I have a problem with foundations always separating or looking cakey on my face. My regular foundation was discontinued and I did a little research on some sheer-medium coverage foundations and came across this. It is perfect. It feels super lightweight and doesn't separate on my face.
AshleyH34 from OKC, OK
I'm not a fan of thick foundations in the summer so this product is perfect for me! The shade is great. I love that there is SPF in it. It stays on the face really well and wears fantastic even after several hours. This stuff is bomb. Will for sure be purchasing again.
Kendall from Walls, MS
I bought this and the color correcting concealer. They are both amazing. I have normal skin sometimes a little dry, and this is non greasy and just melts perfectly into my skin! My husband said it looked better than my full face foundation and concealer! Natural with just enough coverage!
Love this product!!
Ari from Philadelphia
I absolutely love this product! It's light weight, and it gives that natural look on my skin.
I give it 5 ⭐️ and I will be re-ordering
I never leave reviews but I love this stuff!!!
Megan from RI
This is by for my favorite tinted moisturizer! I have fair oily skin with pink undertones and this is the only tinted moisturizer that isn't too warm for my undertone. It blends seamlessly and gives a beautiful sheen coverage while still looking like my skin. I will say if you're looking for something that will cover acne, scarring or dark spots this probably isn't it but you could definitely build to create a fuller coverage. It wears beautifully throughout the day and the spf is just an added bonus! Overall if you're looking for an everyday lightweight look, invest in this you won't regret it!
Cake Mama from California
I really love this product. It's sheer enough to just even out my skin tone. I needed something that was light enough to wear everyday without looking made-up and this works perfectly. I didn't give it 5 stars because I can't find a shade that matches with my skin tone as much as I'd like. I'm usually Light 08 in the BareMinerals Original foundation (matches my skin color perfectly) so I use Buttercream 03 in the Complexion Rescue.
Eh, it's ok
Jellybean from Pasadena, CA
This product is pretty expensive for what it does. It does make my skin glow, I'll give it that, but it's a very watery formula. I'm looking for something with just a liiiittle bit more coverage to blur the redness in my skin. Tarteguard was my absolute fave but it got discontinued for whatever reason. Still searching for a formula close to it.
