How to Use
Rated 4.2 out of 5 stars
I absolutely adore this foundation. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because there are other products out there at this price point that are actually full coverage. This one is more of a medium coverage foundation and that is not a bad thing at all. It lays nice on the skin and once it is dry, it gives a nice matte look to the skin without crease lines. I did find that the best application method that works for me is with my bare clean hands. I tried a beauty blender, a foundation brush and an Artis Brush, all of which gave the foundation a streaky look or swiped the product right off my face. Using the tips of my fingers, I only needed one or two pumps and basically just applied it like a moisturizer all over and let it sit to dry. Speaking of drying, I think this is a big step that most people fail to take and decide too soon that it is greasy or oily. It is still a liquid foundation so give it a few minutes to settle and dry to see the actual color and texture. I use this everyday and I have very naturally oily skin. I have noticed that the foundation does seem to control the oil a bit more than usual. Bonus, there is an SPF 15 in the product! So many of us either forget or ignore applying SPF to our faces daily so this is an awesome feature for me. There is a very wide selection of colors to choose from as well. However, it would be nice if they could come out with some more cooler shades. I currently use the shade True Beige and once it dries and settles, it blends well with my medium skin tone. As far as rub off...of course it rubs off a little. Honestly, they're aren't many foundations under $10 that don't have some sort of rub off throughout the day. Overall, I am very happy I decided to give this foundation a try and recommend it to anyone with oily-medium skin looking for a light weight medium coverage foundation.
I have used Color Stay for 10 years now and it is very disappointing to see the new formula. The foundation is very runny and thinner now; I suppose Revlon changed the formula to stretch the product out, therefore making it cheaper for Revlon to produce. Myself as well as many others are not happy about this. It was such a great foundation. I compared my old bottle from a few months ago to my new bottle and the ingredients are definitely different. I also went to 3 different stores to test the foundation and it is much runnier now. If the product was getting too expensive to produce, a price raise would have been better than runny and thin foundation. I used to only need 1 pump, but now I need 3. I am disappointed in this change and will not be purchasing this, or any Revlon foundation until the formula is thicker.

I have been using this product for many years for my very very oily acne prone skin and it is the best foundation- drug store OR high end - that works the longest. Also excellent color match for my neutral dark skin

I saw a ton of good reviews for this product for many years and was running low on my current foundation, so I finally decided to try this. It went on nicely and the coverage was fine but I noticed the next day a huge breakout on my cheek, which has never happened before when using other foundations. Prior to this I haven't worn any type of makeup for weeks and wore ONLY foundation the day before, so I don't think it could've been anything else. Weird.

This is the best foundation ever!

I love this foundation! It's affordable and it wears all day!! I've been using this for about 5 years, every now and then I like to buy other brands but I always go back to this one! For sure the best drug store foundations out there.

I hope they never get rid of this. This is the ONLY foundation that doesn't let all the oil come through and actually stays on. I get a little, which is to be expected, but not much. This is better than ANY high-end foundation I've ever bought, and will continue to buy it.

I've tried soooo many foundations in my makeup-wearing years, and I always go back to this one. I'm very pale and it's hard to find a shade that's both light enough and matches my warmer/neutral undertones. Buff is a perfect match. I have combination/oily skin and this stuff lasts all day. I prefer a natural no-makeup look and I can't even tell I'm wearing foundation with this. It feels lightweight and doesn't get greasy by the end of the day. It evens out my skin tone without looking heavy or cakey. The pump is also a bonus. I hope Revlon never stops making this.

I have used this product and shade for many years. I consider it one of the best. The foundation wears well and is easy to remove with a cleanser.

I recently ran out of My tried & true fav, (Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation) and found this in the back of one of my makeup draws.
What a wonderful surprise! I have been wearing this foundation, exclusively now for 4 weeks. Revlon Colorstay wears so well on my mostly oily/ combination skin. This make up actually stays put & still looks great at the end of the day...Even with a mask on! I would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a high end foundation that covers up (pretty much everything) at a drugstore price.

I bought this because I'd seen so many people on YouTube wearing it and loving it. It far surpassed my expectations. My skin will always get oily a couple hours into makeup. But not with this stuff. 8-10 hours later, it looked like I'd just applied it.
WAY better than the L'oreal infallible 24hr foundation.

I've used this foundation for YEARS. I'm 45+ years old and have always battled oily skin. This foundation works best for me and I live in Georgia where the summers are miserably hot and grossly humid. It doesn't cake and it stays in place literally all day, even after being outside. The numerous color choices makes it easy to match your skin tone. Paired with L'Oreal Infallible 24 hour waterproof concealer, you will achieve a truly flawless and matte finish all day.
I Love Makeup from North GA
I have used Revlon Colorstay foundation for YEARS. It is my all time favorite. I live in Georgia, where the summers are miserably hot and grossly humid and this makeup does not budge. It is sweat proof and humidity proof. The oily/combo one is great because it doesn't make you break out if you are acne-proned with oily skin. I can't say enough good things about this foundation!

my favorite foundation

Last ALL day on my combo/oily skin. Doesn't even dry out my cheeks in the winter, which is a common problem for me. Buildable coverage, so you can either go for a more natural look or conceal all your sins! Shade range is kinda whack but 285 Shell (one of the new ones) is my best foundation match yet (NC20)

Caused me to have the worst cystic acne spot right on my smile line. Was horrible. Every time I see this foundation I mentally hold up a crucifix.

I'm a busy mom with combo skin and major skin imperfections. I've tried every foundation imaginable and always come back to this. You can't beat this one. I'm 37 and have worn this since I was in high school. The coverage is perfect and it doesn't settle into fine lines. I wear this daily and no high end expensive foundation has ever come close to matching this product and I've tried them all. It's a very close tie with Estée Lauder double wear, but a fraction of the price

I thought I had a bacterial infection on my skin, but it was a reaction to this foundation! I used this foundation faithful, nearly everyday for 2 years with no problems. My cheeks are now covered in painful bumps, and have been this way for 1 month. I never used any other foundation or changed my regimen. I even bought a new batch of the foundation and new foundation brush, but the problem still persists. My skin calmed down after a 4 day break from the make up, but got very inflamed and bumpy again once I applied it. I believe the formula has changed.
Joanna from Los Angeles
I'm not normally one to ever write reviews but this foundation has completely changed my day to day makeup routine ! I work 9-6 days and there hasn't been a day in my makeup wearing life that I haven't had my oily tzone create issues for me. Whether it's taking the time to blot my nose or just feeling self conscious throughout the day, I have struggled with oily skin and end of day cake face. From trying high and low end foundations, this has absolutely beat them ALL. I used the NYX angel veil primer underneath, Kat von d loose setting powder, and the new matte morphe setting spray and this is THE BEST COMBINATION. Not one ounce of oils or shine seeps through my skin. Even at the end of my day I don't even feel the need to touch anything up or redo my makeup for a night out. If you have oily skin you need this in your life !!!

This is literally my go to foundation. Been using it for years. Still love it.
Sara from Dubuque, iowa
This is my all time favorite foundation, been using it for years. I've tried different brands and always resort back to Revlon Colorstay. The best foundation out there for keeping the shine away on my oily skin.
Crazyshade from Nashville TN
I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who noticed the formula has changed. I've tried many foundations and this was my go to. It wouldn't transfer, had a matte look and would even last in the rain. A year ago the formula and shades changed. Like a bad 80s makeup. It feels greasy and does not cover like it did before. Whoever thought this was a great idea at revlon... listen to the people "it sucks and we will buy another brand".
Bunny Gal from Tacoma WA
Have been wearing this foundation for 25+ years. I still have oily skin and this is the only product that feels nice on my face. Over the years I have tried expensive and comparable price products but always come back to good old Revlon. It's the right price, right color selection and formulation. I personally don't think you can beat this.
Tay from CA
I was excited to try this, but it broke me out. I thought I was sweating a lot, based on previous reviews, some have also agreed that it is oily and does cause breakouts.
