Most Helpful Positive Review Great product!
I have been using this pressed powder for at least a year. No matter what the weather is like this matt powder always looks fresh and natural. I have fair skin. When the season changes to warm and I am getting more sun I choose a darker shade to suit my skin tone. One of the main reasons I use this powder is to use it like a base to cover and smooth out any imperfections or color variations. This product never lets me down !
Most Helpful Critical Review No Such Thing as "Transparent"
I got this product because I'd ran out of a silca based transparent powder from Wet & Wild. Usually I think the more expensive brands have better quality, and this matched the brand of my foundation so I thought they'd work together great. Sadly, I was wrong. Revlon doesn't seem to know what transparent means, this powder has a pink base, paired with my yellow undertoned foundation it turns me orange. This happens almost every time I try to buy something labled as "transparent", apparently no one has ever heard of a pale girl with yellow undertones. I'll go back to my $0.99 brand next time.

I apply a light layer of this over my foundation if I don't want to use a heavy powder and I love it! No flash back and can be used for slight baking if applied correctly. I have very oily skin and this is great for all skin types.
Great product! Could be better packaging.

I've purchased, and repurchased this with loyal intent on future purchases. The powder's formula is fantastic and never fails me. The only thing I continuously gripe about is the compact's packaging functionality. It seems a bit backwards and awkward to use when the powder is above the mirror hinged section. Flipping back and forth from powder to mirror is annoying and not convenient for anyone. I do like the separation of the powder puff applicator from the powder itself, but the mirror could serve better if placed above the powder itself..? Either I'm onto something or I have been using this wrong for several years. :)
Bought to Combat Shine -- FAIL
PamelaGold from Denver, CO
I paid a lot more for this product because it said it would control shine for up to 16 hours. I would have been satisfied with 4. It barely delivers 2. The design of the compact is strange in that the mirror and applicator are in a tray below the powder, making it difficult to use without being clumsy. Do NOT recommend.

I have used the pressed powder for quite some time and really like it but wish they sold the puff applicator separately. I would like to have extras

I use the color stay foundation, concealer, and primer with this powder and it keeps my makeup on until I am ready to take it off.

I've been using this powder for years now. Love it. Keeps face looking smooth.
Stunning matte powder !

The old formula was not a good product, irritating, shiny, no shine control and required a lot more work than usual to look acceptable. The new/current talc-based formula is absolutely stunning !
I hate when manufacturers change their formula without mentioning it on the packaging, thus letting the consumers think they buy the same product while it's actually something completely different, it's totally dishonest. In the case of this powder, there's nothing in common between the old and the new formula. I'd like the manufacturers to remember that they live thanks to consumers money.
This new formula began to pop-up in 2015.
- If your powder's packaging has the half-moon window, then it's the old formula.
- If it has the full round window with "Revlon Colorstay" written in WHITE letters, it could be either the old formula or the new formula 2015 first launch.
- If it has the full round window with "Revlon Colorstay" written in BLACK letters, then it's the new 2019 formula.
Old formula :
Mica, Bismuth Oxychloride, Zinc Stearate, Silica, Dimethicone, Nylon-12, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Polyethylene, Octyldodecyl Glycol Grapeseedate, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Isododecane, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Lecithin, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Cymbidium Grandiflorum (Orchid) Flower Extract, Silk, Malva Sylvestris (Mallow) Extract, Lilium Candidum (Lily) Bulb Extract, Lactobacillus/Eriodictyon Californicum Ferment Extract, Lauroyl Lysine, Synthetic Sapphire, Dimethiconol, Dimethicone/Silsesquioxane Copolymer, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Phenoxyethanol, Sorbic Acid +/- (CI 77491/CI 77492/CI 77499/Iron Oxides, CI 77891/Titanium Dioxide)
New one :

Back to the review...
While the old formula was wax-like in the pan, hard to pick up and needed strong buffing to look great, the new formula is light-as-air (when I pick it up with my brush I see a kind of mist of superfine powder particles that actually fly) and blends like a dream. Beware for this powder has a very soft, very silky but VERY powdery texture. It's so easy to pick up that I barely dab my brush into the powder to get the amount I need (don't swirl the brush, you'll end up in an opaque powder fog).
As usual, the shade 820 Light is a perfect match to the yellowish-beige undertone of Colorstay Makeup in 150 Buff (for oily skin, the same shade in the dry skin formula is darker/redder) or my current winter go-to Urban Decay Stay Naked in 20NN. It slightly darkens as soon as it sucks moisture (like most powders), either from sebum or setting spray, but neither darkens further throughout the day nor oxidizes to a orange shade, it really stays true-to-tone all day long.
This is a VERY matte powder : no shine, no glow, no shimmer. It's long lasting, non-drying, non-irritating and has a good oil-control (shine peeks through at regular speed, but blotting papers fix that, the powder does not comes off or crease). It has a sheer-to-light coverage so don't rely on it to cover blemishes (it's not a powder foundation) but it does what it's meant to : setting foundation and toning down shine.
I don't like the compact : on the one hand the round window allows you to see the actual color of the powder upon buying, and the storing compartment for the puff (underneath the powder) allows the mirror to stay clean and the puff not to stay on the powder (which is better hygiene-wise) . On the other hand it's bulkier than usual and it's exasperating to pick-up powder then raise the compact to reach the mirror then lower it to pick-up more powder then raise it again etc.
The velvet puff itself is unusually good quality (it reminds me of the puffs in my asian powders) and its black color allows to see the slightest amount of powder you've picked up. I personnally prefer using a brush, or a damp sponge to layer more powder on my oily nose (this way the result is less flour-like).
It's fragrance-free, smell-free, and free of synthetic sunscreen.
The shades chart has been updated to 14 in US (and in Africa there's an impressive bunch of medium to very dark shades) :
290 Natural Ochre
330 Natural Tan
I join a picture of the shades I own.
One last note : I completely agree with the former reviewer, a refill would be a great idea (less expensive, less plastic used, let's be more nature-friendly).
What about a refill
Nana from Wollongong NSW Australia
Bought this compact and very pleased with the result. I assumed though that I would be able to purchase a refill instead of paying for the whole compact again. As a 70 year old pensioner I do not have the money to be extravagant with make up purchases and have had to revert to cheaper powder brands. Very happy with the product but disappointed not being able to refill the compact.
Great for my oily skin

Great finishing touch to the Foundation of the same brand.
Great powder, compact hinge breaks within a week
Meg from Ann Arbor, MI
I love this powder. It does exactly what it should do, even out skin tone and reduce shine. However, the hinge on the compact breaks within a week every time I buy it. I use it that way anyway, but I have to add tape to hold the hinge together. I have always placed the pad back in its compartment for storage between uses. I am careful not to stress the hinge because I know it's a weak point, but it breaks soon after I start using it. Please improve this problem. I'm surprised no one else has mentioned it.
Keeps me from getting oily

This helps to keep me from getting oily and stays for most of the day.
Good for the price

I have dry to normal skin. i am a tan female with dark circles and extra under eye skin. I bought this to hope it prevent creasing under my eye. I only use concealer and this for my eyes, and I use Revlon and maybelline concealer (both). I normally crease under my eye due to the folds, and because of this I waited to try a drugstore brand powder to help with this rather then buying an expensive brand that I didn't think I use. I do like this, its good for the price and Revlon is my favorite drugstore brand for my skin. I think it does it job and however I do see some cakieness.

I tried the PhotoReady powder and it was OK, but I didn't care for the brush applicator, so gave this ColorStay powder a try and love it. The pad applicator feels like I am airbrushing my face. Very long lasting finish.

So glad took a chance on this!
Pj from SRQ
My Clinique powder was not keeping oil at bay and lasting the way I wanted. I was looking for something without fragrance that wouldn't clog pores and took a chance on this on a whim. So glad I did. Lasted all day, looked smooth, reduced appearance of lines and pores and felt like was not wearing any at all. Winner!
