Comments about L'Oréal Colorista Semi-Permanent For Brunette Hair:

I am a brunette and did not bleach before using. I wanted a semi permanent as my last time with fun colored hair before graduating, now four months later the pink will not leave my hair, even after bleaching, and I am at a loss as to what to do to get the color out. This is no where near semi permanent and not for a quick fun thing.

Don't bother unless you want colored hair forever

Comments about L'Oréal Colorista Semi-Permanent For Brunette Hair:

I bought this thinking it would last only a few washes(because that's exactly what it says on the box) well let me tell you that is not true. It took months to get it to start fading and I had my colorist bleach my hair to try and get it out and I still have green pieces in my hair. So if you want to have a specific color forever until it grows out sure go for it. But if you're thinking this is gonna be a fun thing for an event or for a summer or something don't bother.

I had to use throw away towels because it stains everything pink. It's really fun though and lasts a couple of days. Myself and my fiance used them for a concert.

Comments about L'Oréal Colorista Semi-Permanent For Brunette Hair:

i have dirty blonde/light brown virgin hair and tried the teal color a while ago... it pretty much washed out after one wash but my naturally lighter pieces were green for a few months! i just did the ends of my hair with burgundy and it pretty much turned out as purple as the bottle, it's pretty but i go to a school where i can't have an unnatural hair color. i've washed it 4 times and it's still very pink which is good if you're looking for more longevity than just a wash or two overall happy with the purple color but not so much the blue

Comments about L'Oréal Colorista Semi-Permanent For Brunette Hair:

I bought the color Teal. I have medium brown hair, and I did not bleach it prior to application. I used about 4 tubes to do my whole head of thick, medium-length hair. The color was true to the box for about 4 days. The blue washed/bled out by the end of the week. It got on EVERYTHING. I have a blue pillow now :( The green clung to the blonde parts of my hair, leaving it a delightful Swamp Witch Green. Yuck. I dealt with that color for three weeks before dyeing my hair a dark bluish-black with only two bottles of a Garnier dye. That took care of it. Unless you're a fan of Swamp Witch Green, don't buy the teal color. You will be sad.

On the other hand, the pink color isn't so bad. I used some of that for highlights (before my Teal experience) and, although it washed out super quickly, it was cute. It did not leave my hair a crazy color. So if you're looking for some fun, temporary highlights, go for pink. Stay away from the blasted teal color.

Comments about L'Oréal Colorista Semi-Permanent For Brunette Hair:

I have naturally red/auburn hair, and wanted to try something a little bit different without too much commitment. The teal color took really well to my hair, but faded from a dark teal to almost a mint green after the first wash. I wasn't mad about it though, it still looked good. Also it seemed to be fairly gentle on my hair.

i have bleached ombré hair (mid-shaft/ends) but not super intense blonde. i bought #midnightblue and was wondering if this was safe and since i have slight color already in my hair will it wash out in a few shampoos?

            A:

Hello! Using a shade formulated for brunettes on light/bleached hair may certainly cause a more vibrant result. Also, the color could last much longer in the hair due to the fact that it is heavily pigmented for brunette hair. Thanks for your question!

        • Q:

I will be using the burgundy on my dark brown hair in a few days. If I use a styling tool such as a flat iron or a curling iron a few days after the color is in my hair, will the heat protectant and the heat from the tool cause the color to fade?

Hi Kiki96! After applying our Colorista, using an excessive amount of heat styling can promote color fading. We hope this helps!

            A:

Hi pax! We do not recommend using the shades for brunettes on lightened hair. If your ombre ends are blonde or were done with bleach, this can cause the color to last much longer that 8-15 washes. We hope this helps!

            Hi Caitlin!
The semi-permanent Colorista is formulated for natural hair and the pastel shades are for bleach blonde hair. We would not recommend using on color-treated hair. Not that it's dangerous in any way, but color result will vary based on existing artifical color that's in the hair!

I dyed the bottom portion of my hair in an ombre fashion with the teal, it's been about 2.5 months and the green is still there. I have naturally red hair, I was wondering if the red or burgundy dye would cover the green, or if it would end up muddy and brown? I've tried to fade with clarifying shampoos, hot showers, etc and

          • Brand Expert

            A:

Hi Teri! We're really surprised the semi permanent deposit of the teal is still in your hair after all this time. It sounds like you've done the kind of things we would recommend to help the color come out of the hair. Using a any shade of haircolor over the teal will come out muddy looking. Using a red color over the green will come out brown. We're sorry this color is taking so long to come out of the hair. There is nothing in this product that can penetrate the hair shaft to make the color last more than a few shampoos, so we're not sure why your color is hanging on so long.

Hi Sarrah! Since the color gradually rinses out with each shampoo, it is possible that it could get on your towels when you dry your wet hair. However, it will come out in the wash! As long as your hair is dry, the color won't transfer onto anything!

Hello Mel! We would recommend to make sure that the area where you applied the other product is completely washed out. Then we would recommend using the brunette shades in order for the color to show on your hair color. The brunette shades are teal, burgundy, red and tangerine. We hope this is helpful!
