It works!!!!

Comments about L'Oréal Colorist Secrets Haircolor Remover:

I bought this today June 2018 and I totally loved it!! I have been dying my hair Black for years because no matter what other COLOR hair dye I bought, it just would never cover it. The only part of my hair that any hair dye would work on, was on my roots. That result was embarrassing!! Today, a different story indeed. I used it on my shoulder length hair and it totally stripped my hair of the black!!! OMG I am so impressed!! Thank you to the employee Yesi from Walmart in Corpus Christi, TX!! You Rock Yesi, Thank you for helping me in choosing a great product! Again I am in love with this product and I highly recommend it!!!

I wish it was possible to give this product zero stars!
Most color removers do not damage hair like using bleach does. This product COMPLETELY damaged the heck out of my hair!!! It's dead and dry and falling out
I am beyond astounded at the horrific quality of this hair product!

can i give this ZERO stars?!!?

Comments about L'Oréal Colorist Secrets Haircolor Remover:

I wanted to remove the black hair dye from my hair and I've used other haircolor removers before that worked the way I wanted so I gave this a try. Normally I would just throw this sort of stuff all over my head and it would remove just the dye but this product removes everything! Including my NATURAL COLOR. I know you're not supposed to apply this product to new, real hair growth but my natural hair color is very dark brown so I couldn't see exactly where it began and ended. So now I'm left with bright roots, brights ends, and black middle (yeah it barely worked in that area).. ALSO you need to be more clear on the box that this is basically just bleach. I saw other reviews where you comment and say there NEEDS to be a bleaching component in it to remove the dye but that is just not true. Thanks for taking my money, causing my hair unneeded damage, and wasting my time because now I just have to try something else to fix this mess.

I had dyed my hair red a few months ago and wanted to go back to natural brunette so I could dye my hair blue. This made the red stronger and must have messed with the blue dye because it turned a weird brown/purple. Absolutely wouldn't recommend.

I used this product on three occasions. The first was to take out green and black from my bleached hair. It was easy to use and worked wonderfully! The second time I used it to remove blue and purple from my hair. It lightened the color tremendously but it didn't look very good and I had to put bleach over my hair to get the rest of the color out. I was disappointed. The third time I used it to get rid of black and red from my hair. It didn't remove all of the red and was patchy, stripped my natural hair color underneath the red, but it did remove the black. I would say keep expectations somewhat low but it is better than some hair removal products I've used for unnatural colors.

Comments about L'Oréal Colorist Secrets Haircolor Remover:

I am a licensed cosmetologist and usually use color oops which works great . Unfortunately the store was out. My hair has never been bleached , my hair naturally is dark brown but had been dyed to black , now I know these products do not take your hair back to natural color , nothing can do that , usually the hair will come our orangish with some brassy tones . But this product took my hair from black to blonde like straight up bleach blonde. Ladies next time before going this route you might as well get bleach or try color oops. This stuff is horrible.

Comments about L'Oréal Colorist Secrets Haircolor Remover:

Know this before you purchase this product: it is a BLEACH and it will remove the color from ALL hair that it touches. If you understand that and aren't expecting something that will return your hair to its natural color, you should be pleased with this product.

I have been coloring my hair for nearly 10 years, primarily to cover grays. (The women in my family tend to go gray early.) My natural shade is dark brown so I have been using that color family, but recently I've noticed that my below-the-shoulder hair has become almost ombre --- very dark, almost black at the ends, and progressive lighter toward the roots. Simultaneously I decided that the very dark color is a bit stark on me, and I wanted a softer look. I knew I couldn't color over the darker ends with a lighter brown, so I opted to try this product.

I did a strand test first and decided to proceed based on the color result after 30 minutes exposure to the product. But it was a bit tedious to apply because you must avoid new growth, so it took my daughter about half an hour to cover my head. All told, it took 50 minutes from starting the application until I rinsed my hair. The resulting color was a light red/orange, actually quite natural looking (my husband is a redhead) but inconsistent enough that I would not have kept my hair that color.

I allowed my hair to dry and colored later the same day with a permanent haircolor a few shades lighter than the dark browns I have used in the past. I feel the remover did what I was hoping, and left a good platform for re-coloring.

Beware, the product DID bleach my new growth to a white blonde in places where we accidentally got a bit on the previously untreated hair.

I do wish the package clearly stated that this product is a bleach, but nowhere on the package or insert do I find that important fact. If it did, I believe many of those who gave one-star reviews would not have been so surprised and disappointed by the results they achieved.

                A:

Hi Sylvia! It depends on the hair type how long it will take to lighten. Since you are starting from a very intense Blue Black shade it could take more than one application. We recommend being very careful with the hair as well since multiple applications of bleach can be very damaging.

Hi Lz, if you removed all of the artificial color from your hair, you will apply your next color as a full-head application. You apply color at your root area and through your ends until completely saturated.

Hi Barb, Colorist Secrets Haircolor Remover should not dry your hair out as long as your hair is currently in good condition! Make sure that all of your gray hair and natural hair is covered with haircolor if you are planning on using this! It can cause breakage if it goes on uncolored hair. We hope this helps!

              1 answer

              • Brand Expert

                A:

Hi RB! Colorist Secrets Haircolor Remover can only be used if your hair is in good condition, shoulder-length or shorter, and all of your gray hair and natural hair is covered with artificial haircolor. If you use this on gray hair or it gets on uncolored roots, breakage can occur. This product will expose the natural undertone of your hair in order to re-color the same day. If you are looking to get a light brown, you would put this product on until your hair is orange. Then, you can use a light brown haircolor.

If your current color is only a bit darker than what you desire, you most likely don't have to use this product. You can gradually fade the color by frequently shampooing your hair with a shampoo not made for color-treated hair. We hope this helps!

I have been wanting to remove the dark brown I have applied to my hair for at least five years. The build-up on my hair is black on the ends.
My roots are currently growing out.
Would I still need to apply to my roots?
Ironically my natural colour is very close to the red tone everyone says/shows they have after using the product

              • Brand Expert

                A:

The Colorist Secrets Haircolor Remover should only be applied to the dyed hair. Natural hair lightens up much easier than dyed hair so any new growth exposed to this lightener would become very light compared to the rest of the hair, leaving the hair's color very uneven.
To avoid color build up on the ends of the hair n the future, only apply any hair dye to the previously dyed hair for no more than 5 minutes at the end of your timing. If the previously dyed ends are already dark enough and don't need the color refreshed, just color the roots and leave the ends alone.
