My hair is a tricky, not quite blonde, but I'm not a brunette situation. I guess I could call it a darkest dishwater blonde. I had been getting these undesired orange hues in my hair. I tried the blue version first and didn't see a single difference. I figured I'd try purple before giving up. It smells really nice. I was worried that it would stain, but it didn't. I used this in conjunction with the conditioner, which I do find makes me hair a bit greasy. However, once my hair dried, it was a massive difference. Not only had it become a more pleasant color, the shine was gorgeous.
Wish I could give zero stars.
Came in to ULTA in search of a good Purple shampoo. One of the staff members highly recommended Joico purple shampoo I've tried Joico K pack so I decided to give this a try
worst mistake -Returning product
dried up my hair leaving it stiff and tangled
my beautiful balayage hair is now orange and brassy
The exact reason why I looked into a purple shampoo in order to care for my blonde 😡
I now have to go back to my stylist and have it redone
Too bad ULTA staff or JOICO can't pay for it considering it wasn't cheap
I've had my blonde last A LOT longer before without using purple shampoo . It's only been 3weeks
Thank you Joico for screwing up my hair

This shampoo smells great and keeps my blonde icy.

I have tried a few purple shampoos. All were drying...and with bleached hair that is naturally frizzy and dry I need all the moisture! This is the type of shampoo that makes your hair silky as soon as you apply preventing my hair from knotting while washing. Really happy to have been recommended this product from my colorist.

I have blonde highlights and I started using to prevent brassy I've only used 1 week My husband who has silver hair started using it without my knowing and I was so impressed with how shiny his hair looks then he told me he was using the purple shampoo. What a drastic result.
Carrie from Va,
I have hard water, and this product works miracles.

I have naturally silver hair and used this shampoo before. I bought several other brands from my hair stylists and none of them compared to this one. This is the best purple shampoo. It makes my hair soft and shiny and the silver just "pops". I love it. I use it every third shampoo. I have a oily scalp and thin hair so it works for me even if it's a tad drying. I also use the Joico purple conditioner on the ends of hair. It's the perfect compliment to this shampoo and my hair comes out perfect, soft and full feeling.

It's ok. Definitely helps with toning but I would say it's still a bit drying. I will look for another that is sulfate free.

I use this conditioner once/week. It makes my hair soft, brightens my natural gray & silver hair and just does it's purpose as described. Unfortunately, it does nothing to tame the frizziness when I air dry my hair. I still have to use another product for that. When I am done with this bottle, I plan on trying out another Brand Name Purple Conditioner to see if that one will give me the results I'm looking for.

Brightens my gray/blonde. Leave in for a few minutes. Only need to use once a week.

I love love love this purple shampoo. It's my go to brand after trying 4-5 others. Doesn't stain your hands or your tub either! Pleasant smell and lathers nice. I use it once a week and leave it in for 10 or so minutes to really brighten my hair, followed by a deep Conditioner and I'm all set! Would recommend

You might be in the same boat as me, which is that I loved the Joico Violet Shampoo (in the red bottle), I used it for years, it was a solid, decently priced (during sales or with coupons) shampoo that I always came back to as my main shampoo because there was nothing I didn't like about it. You'd think the purple one would be almost identical, it's even basically the same color out of the bottle, but the formula is not the same, my hair is not nearly as soft or manageable with this one, I will be looking for a new brand once I finish the bottle. It might work for you, but if you're looking for a replacement for their old Violet shampoo this is NOT it.

It does leave your hair dry but you shouldn't use it every time you wash your hair!
I have bleach blonde hair and my hair gets brassy quick, I have tried "Not Your Mother's" & "Shimmer Lights" and they never worked for me. Joico is more pricey but worth it for the size, it has lasted me 1 year! After one wash & following instructions my hair looked shinier and toned!

I have been searching for a good purple shampoo for my thick, wavy, natural gray hair. This is NOT it. Left my hair feeling like straw and once air-dried, I could not see any difference. Glad I only purchased a small, travel size bottle. Will never use this again.

Got this one to try out and thought that for the price it would work out but it sure didn't. Have used different shampoos and I have nothing bad to say about this one except for the fact it does not take the brassy off like other purple shampoos. Hair feels good, it smells good, it just doesn't work for what supposed to work for

Produces lots of foamy bubbles.

I Have used several purple shampoo, this by far is the best one I have ever used.

Bought this and the matching conditioner because I recently got all over highlights. So far, it works well. Keeps my highlights nice and bright. Some reviews mentioned the smell? I don't think it smells bad at all. It's a little perfumey but it's so faint that it goes away fast.

I have so much trouble with my platinum blonde turning yellow on me but one wash with this stuff and it's an ashy grey/white/bright blonde again!!!
Mimito8 from Houston
It works well in getting rid of yellow. I would suggest cutting it with another shampoo so it doesn't color your hair purple.

This product is great, you might not see the difference the first time you wash your hair but you will definitely see it the 2nd time. Just remember to follow direction and leave it the right amount of time.
I have to use a really good conditioner after adding this shampoo because my hair gets very stiff after washing it with the shampoo. I use it 3-4 times a week.

This is the first purple shampoo I have used and I felt like it made my highlights look brighter but left me with purple/gray fingernails that looked dirty. After it ruined my pale pink manicure, I tried it again with bare nails and it still made them look gross.

Works awesome with the shampoo

Joico had the best violet, sulfate free shampoo (in a red bottle). When I couldn't find the red bottle, I assumed the packaging had just changed and grabbed this bright purple bottle. When I started using it, I immediately noticed the texture was more like jelly than the other formula, and instantly felt the drying effects of sulfates on my hair. My hair felt like straw when rinsing the shampoo out. Safe to say I'll be returning and looking for a new purple shampoo since it seems Joico has sadly discontinued their amazing sulfate free violet shampoo.

I have almost white hair so this gets ALL of the brass out but also makes it really purple, and VERY dry. my recommendation is to use the Joico purple shampoo (not the conditioner) and then use the Pantene hair mask (in the gold package) as conditioner. leave it in for the rest of your shower and your hair will be fixed i promise! Or, if you want to color correct use John Frieda Go Blonder yellow conditioner. It works well, I just use the Pantene mask whenever i use the Joico shampoo because if not my hair will feel like straw!
