Comments about SheaMoisture Cocoa Butter Blend:

I love this product. It smells good, but not overpowering. It doesn't leave my skin greasy and has helped my KP a lot. But let's address the elephant in the room here. It's often grainy. In the world of oil, graininess is just a part of life. The various fatty acids in oils all have different melting points. So, when an oil cools slowly, those fatty acids cool at different speeds and grains form. Some good friction will get it all sorted out. I'm not that patient though. I empty my container into a double boiler and let it all melt down (I often add a little extra cocoa butter) then pour it back in the container and stick it in the freezer. The rapid cooling will prevent it from getting grainy.

I like to go one step further and pour half into the container, add even more cocoa butter, and then poor that into molds for lotion bars. Then I'll whip up what's in the container, which solves the solid as a rock part too.

Nothing moisturized my face EXCEPT this!!

      By Chrissy

Comments about SheaMoisture Cocoa Butter Blend:

Ok let me give you the tea: my skin has been going crazy for the past two years! The first year I broke out all along my jawline with red burning acne. Come to find out i have crazy sensitive skin and I'm allergic to biotin and witch hazel is very irritating on my skin. Once that cleared up (by using pure Castile soap) I started to get burning dry patches of skin around my mouth. I would slather oils and moisturizes on my face including big brands like Mario Badescu but NOTHING worked. Even pure shea butter didn't work. This blend immediately soothed my skin and keeps it hydrated ALL day. My skin has been glowing and I no longer have acne or redness or dryness on any parts of my face. I also only use natural products on my face and a few Mario Badescu products. A little definitely goes a long and because I only use it on my face and neck I have no problem with just rubbing a small amount between my hands to melt it and then smoothing it on my face. That melts it just fine! I've been using this for months and it's bomb and once you use it more it's more smooth in the center. Hope this helps! :)

I got this to use on my daughters dry skin. It was very hard and when out on her it would not smooth out, all chunky. Worst product and it's sad I do like this companies lotions. I will stuck to the same unrefined coconut oil I usually use. Returned it the next day.

Comments about SheaMoisture Cocoa Butter Blend:

Product is a typical shea butter texture and seems to moisturize well, but I was not expecting the candy banana smell that i found upon opening the jar. Its not terrible, but the description and reviews offered no warning, this is not the standard sheamoisture scent.

Comments about SheaMoisture Cocoa Butter Blend:

okay well I tried, I blended it with oil ...I tried whipping it with a blender... completely crumbly once it set.... really the only way to use this is to melt it every time you're going to use it and really who has time for that? plus I'm pretty this is the cause of a rash I got after using it a few times (either the vegetable oil or the fragrance is a problem)
which is too bad because it smells really good if they could come out with a whipped version with no vegetable oil I would try it again

Comments about SheaMoisture Cocoa Butter Blend:

when you first receive this product it will be hard. hard like they took a big chunk out of a big vat that they had previously mixed all the ingredients together in... which they did.

so you can either take it out of the container and put in a bowl and microwave until melty, or leave in the container and sit in a bowl of hot water till soft.

then take a mixer with one mixer blade off or a hand held blender or a strong spoon and mix it all together.

if using the mixer you can whip it till it is light and fluffy. same with stick blender.

put it back into the jar.

if it is grainy or any oil is grainy simply melt thoroughly melt and stir well and put into the freezer to harden.

when it re hardens it will not be grainy or gritty. on very grainy butters do it twice. you can then whip it but make sure you end by putting into freezer to harden.

butters (and thick oil) can get grainy if they cool and re melt and cool again a few times like in route. it doesn't hurt the product at all.

hope this helps all the people i see who complain about their butters being grainy or dry.

Comments about SheaMoisture Cocoa Butter Blend:

You really need to work this stuff on your skin for it to melt. At first it's crumbly, so it can be messy. Really disappointed at the graininess. But once you get it on it's smells so good, and it is one of the best natural moisturizers

It really is one of the best natural moisturizers. I'm just so dissatisfied with the texture. It's grainy and takes forever to melt. So it's great for when you have time for it.
