Most Helpful Positive Review Only one that hasn't given me a reaction :)
I have had immediate face break outs with every other face sunblocks that I have tried. I have very sensitive skin. I reluctantly bought this thinking it would do the same, but surprisingly it did not!! It goes on smooth and doesn't show. I really like this product!
Most Helpful Critical Review NOT Breakout Free
I wore this sunblock under my makeup for a few weeks. I applied it right after my moisturizer and before my primer. It is effective at blocking sun damage, but it is absolutely not "breakout free" like it claims to be. I'm really disappointed and honestly mad that Neutrogena would sell such a lie. Everybody is different, I guess. Anyway, after starting to use this product I noticed white bumps breaking out on my face, especially my forehead. I thought that maybe it was the result of a face mask I was using instead, because this product is supposedly breakout-free; but after testing this on my arms and chest, I was able to confirm that this product is indeed the culprit. Super upsetting because I finally got rid of my closed comedones last year (found out I was allergic to my laundry detergent), but this brought them back. In a pinch, temporary acne is better than permanent sun damage, but this product is NOT ideal.

I've had trouble finding sunscreens that didn't make my face feel greasy and this one does a great job. It's moisturizing enough to where I don't feel the need to use an additional moisturizer in the morning but it dries down to a nice soft matte finish after a few minutes. It also wears nicely under makeup and doesn't make my skin oily. I'm very fair so I don't notice a white cast but I'm not sure how it would fair on darker skin; it's a chemical sunscreen so I don't think it would be too bad. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because it contains oxybenzone which is one of the ingredients banned by Hawai'i for bleaching the coral reefs, however other than that this is a great affordable SPF.
Not my favorite, but it gets the job done

Nice texture, not too strong of a smell, but a bit of a white cast.
The texture of this sunscreen is fine, a little runny but easy to spread. It remains tacky and leaves your face shiny afterwards for a nice base to put makeup on, but only if left to dry for a few minutes or more.
The smell isn't unpleasant, but more reminiscent of chemicals than a traditional sunscreen smell. It's not faint but it also isn't overpowering.
The white cast usually isn't too much of a problem if you're putting makeup on top or lighter in complexion, but it will die down in intensity after a few minutes on darker skin, too.

Doesn't feel sticky. No white cast. Not greasy. No breakout. Wallet friendly. Easily available in many stores. I'm happy that i found THE sunscreen.
Not break-out free
anniesan from Boston
This product shoud not be called clear face, as it has comedogenic ingredients: Steareth-2, Butylene Glycol and Dimethicone. It caused the worst break-out I've had in years.
Worst breakout I've had in years
Dani from North Carolina
I do have acne prone skin but since this was claiming to be breakout free- I gave it a chance. Like many other reviews this sunscreen did burn me too and I had tons of whiteheads pop up over night. This is truly the worst breakout I've had in years, even on my neck and chest from applying it there too. Please don't buy this.
very misleading product irritating and caused acne

Although I happen to be a black individual, I do strongly find the importance of protecting my skin from the harmful UVA/UVB rays. After reading the ingredients listed in the Neutrogena clear face sunscreen, I was extremely repulsed and appalled that it contained toxic cancer-causing ingredients. I initially sought after this product because of the break-out free claims it had made, but after giving this product a try, it turned out to be very misleading. As soon as this product was applied to my face, it began to burn, sting, tingle and that is when I noticed more breakouts appearing. This sunscreen happens to contain cancer-causing ingredients such as Octisalate, Octocrylene, Avobenzone, and Oxybenzone which all make the point of wearing SPF counterproductive, especially if the ingredients are toxic enough to cause cancer and irritate the skin to cause my inflammatory papules on my face. I'm not picky but the only thing I ask when it pertains to sunscreen is that it doesn't leave a cast, and importantly is free of Octisalate, Octocrylene, Avobenzone, and Oxybenzone, silicones, dimethicone, parabens, and fragrance. I'm not a fan of this product Neutrogena this product has caused me so much discomfort and breakouts.

I love this! It not only protects my skin from the sun but it also adds some extra moisture in the dry season. It doesn't leave my face white. Does however leave my face shiny which is fine for now. Haven't tried it under makeup yet but I imagine I would need to add some extra powder.
feels amazing on skin!
lulluulemon from California
feels like any other sunscreen when you put it on but then magically sinks into the skin and doesn't gunk up or get oily like others. I have very oily skin so I hate the process of applying sunscreen but with this one it leaves my skin looking like nothing is on it! Also very easy to layer as well as layer underneath makeup. Will not budge under makeup until you wash it off.
Do not use on sensitive skin

I have Mediterranean skin, light tan and do not burn easily. My skin is prone to acne so I thought this would be for me. When I apply this sunscreen on my face, my face burns (burns as in burning feeling) for a few minutes. I decided to keep trying it and my face developed a rash around my nose area from irritation from the sunscreen.I must be allergic to a component in this sunscreen, unfortunately I had to discontinue using.

I bought this a couple months ago and have used it only 5 times, and every time I broke out. My skin hasn't been this bad since my freshman year of high school. And of course the last time I used it, I'm on vacation so my skin broke out. The only thing I liked about it was that it didn't burn my face like other sunscreens.
Love it already

I put this on after my moisturizer and it's great. Very light- even with two layers of product my face doesn't feel oily or weighed down.
Love it !!!

Age 66, Male, I have very sensitive skin and react to all other sunscreens that I have tried. I am thankful for the direction from one of your CSR's last year that got me on this. My only complaint is that I am unable to find a larger quantity size container to help reduce the overall cost. Any help there ?

This product works well as a sunscreen. I live in Florida and am in the sun all the time. I've never gotten a sunburn or any sun damage while using this product. The only down side is it leaves a little bit of a cast over your face.
Amazing non-comedogenic facial SPF. The best!
SicMundus from Live Oak, FL
This product lives up to its claims 100%. I have tried so many facial sunscreens, both high and low priced, and this is the ONLY ONE that doesn't break me out. I honestly thought I was doomed to wear large, wide brimmed hats for sun protection for the rest of my life, because nothing I tried kept my skin from breaking out. I mean nothing! It was so frustrating and felt like an uphill battle. Someone online recommended this sunscreen and I decided to give it a try thinking it probably wouldn't work for me, but still having some hope. As a last ditch effort, I purchased it and was pleasantly surprised with the results. I have been using this everyday for about a month and it has yet to clog my pores. What a relief! So to all my fellow sensitive-skinned people, your situation is not hopeless. Give this a try. I don't think you'll regret it. Even better, it's highly affordable, so it won't break your bank account. 5 Stars!
Surf everyday and this is the only thing I'll use

Best sunscreen out there that is
Super light and dries in like nothings even on your face. Not oily at all and won't cause breakouts at all even for sensitive skin. Perfect spf for face and Works so well against the sun.

I tried really hard to like this SPF, but everytime i put it on my face it would sting, and lasted for like 10 minutes :(
Linda22 from Alberta
I used this for a week at the lake - stings for several minutes after applying, my friend thought the same thing; also says water resistant - but ran into my eyes every time I got in the water. This would probably be my product of choice if it weren't for the non-water resistance
I would never buy this again(.)

So I finally decided to start wearing sun screen everyday on my face as you should. I was so afraid to get break outs because my face had finally cleared up and buying this was a mistake. Everyone is different but this was falsely advertised I broke out right away. I tried it again the second time thinking maybe something else I was using broke me out and it broke me out all over again. On my nose and my smile lines including my forehead. It's small little ones I'm very disappointed and won't be buying anymore of there products.

I've been using this product for a little over a month soon as I put it on it starts to burn I thought I would get used to it but it still burns when I apply it And I don't have sensitive skin
It didn't work for me

It's funny I actually bought this product because it advertise as break out free...but it caused my skin to break out right the way.
Good but it leaves white/piling residues
Ladywat from NJ
I was looking for a good sunscreen and since I always heard about good thing Neutrogena, I decided to wear it. After I moisturized my face I put the sunscreen and when I rub it at the white/piling residues appears. I don't like it because mess me up when I'm on a rush and that residues get into my hear and when I apply a little make up I have to rub first and then continue. After that It's good product.

This burns my skin and eyes. I tried to tough it out, after a week of use I started to develop many black heads. I also noticed that I am developing colour quicker than I should when using sun protection of this strength. Very disappointing, I hate to be wasteful, but I will be replacing this asap.

As soon as I applied this it immediately started burning.
