Tarte Clay Stick Foundation is like a nutrition bar for your skin. The full-coverage, powder-to-liquid formula melts into skin while micro-encapsulated powders burst with your body heat to keep you shine and cake-free. This vegan formula features antioxidant vitamins C, and Amazonian clay, a total skin-balancing powerhouse that hydrates or mattifies depending on your skin type. The guilt-free blend also means there are no harsh chemicals like talc, gluten, sulfates, or parabens in your buildable, decadent coverage. Use on-the-go, as a spot concealer, or in lighter or darker shades to highlight and contour - just swipe, blend and #slaywithclay.

For best results, apply with a foundation brush.
  • Twist-up foundation & swipe directly onto skin, concentrating coverage at the center of face to cover redness, uneven skin tone, hyperpigmentation, pores & other imperfections.
  • Blend outward in small circular motions toward the jaw & hairline using the smoothie blender foundation brush.

Tarteist tip: Dot & blend foundation directly over acne, spots or scars to conceal or wear it a few shades lighter or darker as a creamy highlighting & contouring stick.

Not what I expected

By Avvrie

from Carlsbad

Pros

  • Blends Well
  • Goes On Smoothly
  • Lightweight

Cons

  • accentuates pores
  • chalky finish
  • sinks into fine lines

Best Uses

  • Light To Medium Coverage
  • Normal Skin

Comments about Tarte Clay Stick Foundation:

Wanted to love this foundation, but it really sinks into my fine lines and accentuates pores. The application is very easy though and it blends really well. I would only recommend this if you don't have large pores or deep fine lines.

Comments about Tarte Clay Stick Foundation:

I have fair to medium dry skin and have tried other stick foundations but the were too dry and hard to blend. I travel a good amount and wanted something I could stick in my travel bag. So far, I am loving this foundation.

      I've tried better

      By Samantha

      from Michigan

Comments about Tarte Clay Stick Foundation:

Comparing it to my Makeup Forever Mat Velvet foundation, the Tarte stick foundation didn't have full coverage and it's not ideal for oily skin types. But I did like the convenience of a stick foundation.

          Eh

          By Kayla

          from VV

Comments about Tarte Clay Stick Foundation:

Wasn't the foundation for me. thought I liked it cause it would give me full coverage like really good full coverage but after about an hour or so it would start to really sink into my skin and you could see some dry patches and everything & the girl that recommended this told me it was for dry skin but I did everything even different applying techniques but nope wasn't for me and also another thing is it came off very easily like I would barley scratch my face or touch it and there would be a whole patch of foundation.

Love this foundation. Has no fragrance. For dry skin which I have. Goes on smooth. Tried the Tape Shape Hydrating liquid foundation and like the clay stick foundation better. Hope Tarte does not discontinue it. If your oily probably need the shape tape matte liquid foundation. Need more dryer complexion foundations that are not scented.

            Great For Touch Up

            By SF.Donna

            from San Francisco

Comments about Tarte Clay Stick Foundation:

I love the Amazonian Clay line of foundations and find throughout the day at times I need a touch up to cover some areas where the foundation has wore off.
This is when this product comes into play - it fits perfectly in my purse for on the go quick touch ups. (Only wish the cap didn't slip off so easily.)
Only BAD PART about the product is that it's the same price as a full tube of the same product.
If it was around the same price of SHAPE TAPE this product might be purchased more and have more reviews. I still like the product and will buy again once I'm out of it.

            Torn

            By Katie

            from Simi Valley

Comments about Tarte Clay Stick Foundation:

I have combination skin so sometimes this looks great throughout the day but sometimes it breaks up above my nose between my eyebrows which is a major problem area for me. I like it but it isn't perfect.

Since that shade is from another brand, it's difficult to determine your exact match. Check out the online shade descriptions -- they'll tell you the ideal shade for each unique skintone & undertone or stop by your nearest Ulta Beauty to test them out on your skin.
