Most Helpful Positive Review Amazing foundation
I absolutely love this foundation. The finish is not matte - it's similar to the ROTS foundation's finish but slightly more dewy and has more coverage. It looks and wears VERY naturally though. You can matte it out with a powder as I do and it looks lovely. One thing this foundation does that others do not is make my skin look airbrushed, which I love. A little goes a LONG way and it is deliciously creamy and blendable. I love adding a couple drops of the Smashbox Primer Oil onto my skin when it's dry to mix with the foundation.
Here is some info I think will be useful: I am normal/dry. I get maybe one zit a week if that, skin is clear pretty much all of the time. This foundation MAY emphasize dryness and/or texture issues, I am not 100% sure about this as I don't struggle with these too badly. I get a little oily throughout the day but not even to the point where I need to touch up with a powder unless I'm going to be out for 10+ hours. I am VERY FAIR. Not that white/pasty/natural redhead pale, but VERY VERY pale. Like white with a hint of an undertone basically. I am always the first color in a foundation line, and the first is often too dark. FAIR BEIGE is a perfect match for me, one hundred percent. Blends absolutely seamlessly into my neck. FAIR NEUTRAL is lighter than FAIR BEIGE (My sister is PALE and wears the lightest color in the KVD foundation and FAIR NEUTRAL matches her). Tarte's shadefinder on their website is a little visually confusing and I think they mixed up a couple of the shades so I wanted to clarify for those ordering online. If you are basically white, order FAIR NEUTRAL, if you're kind of off-white then get FAIR BEIGE. FAIR LIGHT NEUTRAL would probably work for those who typically match perfect with the first or second color in a drugstore foundation line (think Loreal, whose lightest color is about two shades too dark for me). Hope this helps!
Most Helpful Critical Review Matched my skin perfectly! Did not sit on my skin perfectly.
I wanted to love this. I used the Tarte BB cream in Fair before using this and I loved how it felt on my skin but I've gotten to the point in my life that I'm starting to need more coverage at 32 years old, so I bought this to try out. I'll start with the good news.
PROS : I have incredibly fair skin, but I have warm undertones, so it's hard for me to find anything that fits my skin tone just right. This stuff in Fair Neutral matches my skin tone perfectly! Seriously the color is flawless. This is why I'm SO upset it didn't work out. Also the stick is very convenient and not messy, & it seemed to stay put my whole 8 hour work day and then some. Plus I didn't notice any change with oxidation. Awesome!
CONS : I shouldn't have had to work so hard to blend this. I used a mix of a moist beauty blender and my fingers and I felt like I was having to be very rough to get it to blend properly. First day I used this without a primer, second day with. It was almost worse with the primer. I've never really had a problem with my pores showing up but man, this stuff turned my fairly smooth skin into looking like the surface of the moon. I have normal skin, not too oily or dry, but this did my skin no justice.
The color is perfect, but it does not play well with blending. Sigh. I wanted this to work out so much but it just isn't for me. I'm returning this and will try a different brand.
Reviewed by 405 customers So blendable and beautiful finish

Wore this to my son's birthday party in 100 degree heat and it wore beautifully. I did end up mixing it with the marc jacobs remarcable foundation because I read reviews of it being oily and greasy. The combo wore for 6+ hours without touching up and had a pretty satin finish plus it was soooo easy to blend! This is the only stick foundation I find that blends completely with a beauty blender and not have to go in with a brush. HIGHLY recommend!

I'm reaching 40's and have uneven skin tone with sun spots. This covers everything! I have close friends wouldn't believe me that I have uneven skin tone they swore my skin was naturally flawless using this stick. I use it as spot concealer then I use foundation over.
Good intro to Tarte line
Tracey from Michigan
Goes on smooth and feels weightless on the skin. It's light coverage for me as a foundation, but works better as a concealer or for spot coverage. Doesn't oxide on me, but it fades by the end of the day.
Best stick foundation

Works like magic
My favorite foundation but you must set it!

I love this foundation. I use the color fair beige. It's one of the only pale foundations that also does not dry my skin out. i have very sensitive dry skin/eczema and this foundation hydrates and hides imperfections. I would say this is closer to full coverage, however you need to set this foundation with a nice setting powder of the foundation will move or wipe off.
Yes, I will continue to buy this product.

I've used this product before an love it. It's the only foundation I use now.
Melted right off

So I bought this hoping it would match...it totally did...but it did not last for me at all in 90 degree Utah summer.
Never hated a foundation so much
Tarte Clay stick foundation hater from SC
Honestly the worst foundation I've ever bought. I usually don't have a problem with any kind of makeup but this was so oily going on, and would not stick to my face. You could literally see patches where if I touched my face slightly it would glide right off. Would never recommend, not even to my worst enemy.
Mandy E from Maryland
This is my first stick foundation and so far I'm loving it. I've been playing around whether I like to use a beauty blender or brush better but the consistency is amazing and it blends beautifully.
LOVE THIS PRODUCT... but
Sami from PA
I absolutely love this product it's so hydrating and nice coverage. However it so easily runs out as the formula is so soft. It takes a lot of product to smoothly cover the skin and it just doesn't take long to run out... I feel it's too much money for the amount of product you get.
Way to oily!
Emy from Texas
The color is great! But the formula is never drying! Oily silky wipes right off 😩
Greasy Formula, Wouldn't But This Again
Tabby from Atlanta
I got this because it seemed convenient and easy to apply on the go. Which it is. But the formula is super greasy. It never seems to completely dry or set, so it comes off on everything, (my clothes, my hands, etc), even when I apply it very sparingly. Also, if you use eyeshadow, any fallout will stick to it and be impossible to remove without streaking your face. This is going in the trash ASAP.
Perfect color for me and easy to apply.
Patti from Winchester VA
I apply with the stick and use a makeup sponge to blend.
If you're looking for "full-coverage" look elsewhere...

Really love Anastasia's Stick Foundation. Ulta Beauty no longer carries it, so was looking for an alternative.
Tried Tarte's brand of the Stick Foundation and it is NOT the same. Glides off too easily, even with setting powder. Not a fan.
This Surprised Me
Elz from Ohio
I needed a new foundation and this one happened to be on sale, so I thought 'why not give it a shot?' I saw some negative reviews so I wasn't expecting to love it. But as soon as I applied it I fell in love. I have very dry skin (especially in the winter) but this foundation made my skin so dewy and healthy looking! And it melts into my skin beautifully. You can barely tell that I have foundation on. This is now my favorite winter foundation.

I really like this foundation, although it does run out super fast. I recommend getting it when its on sale for half price if you would like to try it out!!
Summer C from Connecticut
I didn't think I would like this but it is my perfect foundation. Very creamy and long lasting.
Quick and easy

I like how easy it is to use, no need primer just make a few marks on your face and use your fingers to rub in
Seems like decent product but not for me.
Pennysfine from Redondo Beach
Goes on smooth with build able coverage. Unfortunately there's no color that works for me. Either too light or dark. I did try wearing it a few times. Didn't seem to last as long as hourglass's or even Anastasia. But it seems like it would be worth a try for people who could use color range.
Kristen from Houston, Texas
I didn't love it. It covers pretty well but thought it looked kinda grainy.
Vicki from Ohio
I live the coverage, I just wish it didn't rest into my laugh lines. I even use a primer.
Heather from Kinderhook, IL
Okay, I have no idea why this foundation isn't more popular!! I'll never buy another brand. It's so velvety and buttery and the coverage is amazing. So easy to blend and wears wonderfully! Thank you Tarte! Whoop whoop!
Amazing for mature skin!!!
Laura M from Northern Utah
I am going to be 50 this year and spent 2 years searching for the best foundation for mature skin with wrinkles. This stuff is perfect for that and it does NOT settle in the wrinkles to cause caking. It's light and provides excellent coverage while being super light. I look 10 years younger because it doesn't cake!! Other stuff always made me look older. I HIGHLY recommend this and add it with the tarte finishing powder (apply with brush very lightly) to set. Also I did not need concealer at all with this because of how good this does!
Not for me
mkfrick from Chicago
Goes on nicely with a brush with good coverage, but unfortunately comes off with even the slightest touch. Even when just trying to lightly blend bronzer / blush. I don't know wht this foundation is recommended for people with oily skin because I don't know how anyone with even the slightest oil on their face can keep this on. It rubs off even worse when you use a moisturizer/primer. Will be returning.
Petit from Chicago
I like the fact that it's fast to apply. The coverage is medium. I prefer to not use it on the entire face but just to cover some spots on top of another foundation. I use a setting powder after that. It matches my skin color perfectly
