Great for Travel

By BaeRita

from Gainesville, FL

Comments about Tarte Clay Play Face Shaping Palette Vol. 2:

I bought this palette for travel. I have a month-long trip coming up, and I won't be wearing makeup everyday, so I don't want to bring a ton of it with me. I bought this palette because I COULD NOT BELIEVE that the one contour shade it came with was perfect for me, and I like the rest of the palette fine. I have the hardest time finding a good contour shade. Everything makes my face look muddy, orange, or weirdly flushed. Only a few products have ever really worked for me. This is probably the best shade for contouring that I have ever encountered aside from Fenty's Match Stix Matte Stick in Amber (which was a gift sent from the heavens). Other than the contour shade, I think the palette is fine. I like that it comes with a range of matte and shimmer shades, and the blush is similar in color to other blushes I like. Overall I think it's a great palette. My only complaint is the packaging—it's beautiful but not great for travel. I wish the case was closed on the sides and had a more secure closure. I will have to pack this very carefully when I leave for my trip.

If I'm being honest, I'll probably end up bringing a second travel eyeshadow palette, which is why I took one star off. I like to have jewel tones and a dark color for when I go out, and I plan on going out a lot during this trip. I'll likely bring Huda's Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette in Mauve. I think it will pair beautifully with this one.

For reference, my skin is very light with olive undertones.

Comments about Tarte Clay Play Face Shaping Palette Vol. 2:

I recently took this with me on a long trip and it was wonderful! You can create so many good looks with the contents, all while having that great tarte chocolate smell! I didn't worry about lugging all my other palettes to match the outfits I had packed, bc having this palette I knew the neutrals would match everything! Great pigment and love the combo of matte and sparkly shadows. Will use this palette again and again.

Love this palette

Comments about Tarte Clay Play Face Shaping Palette Vol. 2:

Works well for everyday looks. I'm a basic b so this is my go to for contour, blush and natural colors for my brown eyes and fair skin. No experience with the first version everyone keeps talking about. This is a quality packet and I love the packaging. It's simple and easy and the colors are stunning.

Pros

  • Applies Smoothly
  • Blends Easily
  • Silky Texture

Cons

  • Blah colors, boring
  • Breaks easily during travel
  • No dark colors

Best Uses

Comments about Tarte Clay Play Face Shaping Palette Vol. 2:

I needed a travel palette with everything in one. Tarte is my fav company for eyeshadow palettes. However, after buying many, the colors all are the same on repeat. (Add some grey (not silvery blue), deeper plums, olive)
This palette lacks dark colors for eyeliner or smoking. The colors are too boring and too similar. I do like the big powders at the bottom. Also it breaks so easily which defeats getting it for an all in one travel. Come on tarte!!

Comments about Tarte Clay Play Face Shaping Palette Vol. 2:

I got this palette for traveling because it's an all-in-one face palette. It's great to have everything conveniently in one place. I love the eyeshadow colors. A nice variety with mattes, glitters, and colors. Well pigmented and soft. The blush is nice. The highlighter is pretty but I wish it popped a little more.
My only real complaint is the color of the contour. It's kind of orangey. I feel like it would work best for medium-darker skin tones. Overall, this is a nice face palette and it smells amazing.

Comments about Tarte Clay Play Face Shaping Palette Vol. 2:

After having this for a month, I found myself reaching for it only for the blush and the bone shade. The highlight is chalky on my cheekbones and too glittery to use as an eyeshadow because of the fallout. The bronzer is very warm and looked a bit too orange on me, so I ended up using it as a transition shade. The eyeshadow and shimmer shades are nicely pigmented, but not as buttery and soft as I would prefer. For the money, there are simply better palettes/formulas on the market.

Please bring back the first one and keep it permanent. It really is amazing and I use it every day. Perfect shades, blends perfectly. I get use out of all of the colors. This second version just doesn't work as well. It had potential, but that shimmer highlight is way too glittery and doesn't blend well. Not sure what they were thinking with that one.

        • Q:

Why did you take the original clay face palette off the market? It was awesome. I bought 5 of the 1st palette in total. 2 too keep and 3 for gifts. And I am so glad I kept an extra for myself. As for this palette it is a huge disappointment. I was so looking forward to buying it until I saw it. I was hoping it would be a shimmer and glamour look to the 1st. But this was a huge let down. Please rethink the new palette and bring back the other. Make them to be mixed and match. One for the natural look which the 1st had and one for a more glamorous night time look. As for the way it is now. It is really unacceptable. I am sorry to say this because I love Tarte products. None of the original colors should have been used and all you did is slap in some left over stuff in the original palette and didn't even bother to change the name. I hope there is a 3 launched soon to replace this huge mistake that was pulled on your loyal customers.

After we launched the original clay play palette, we took all the feedback from our loyal tartelettes and wanted to quickly come out with a sequel that addressed everything you asked for! We created a new outer packaging box to easily differentiate between the two versions, but utilized the same compact design so that we could bring you the updates as soon as possible. Version 1 contains all matte, neutral shades with 3 contouring powders, while Version 2 swaps out some shades to add 3 luster shadows, 1 contouring bronzer, 1 blush and 1 shimmering highlighter!
