Comments about Clairol Natural Instincts:
The color is so misrepresented. I used the auburn color on my brown hair a couple years ago and it turned it PURPLE. Like a bright red wine. It would be a pretty color if that's what you want, but it looks nothing like the box, and is definitely not auburn. Had to get it fixed at a salon.
I guess it's my fault I tried it again last night, but I didn't want a permanent dye. I bought the dark brown and my hair is now BLACK. It didn't look this dark on the box, nor did the dye look this dark. At the very best, this is "soft black" but I wanted a dark brown. The next shade up is medium brown, which my hair already was, but who knows what that color will actually be.
It would be nice hair dye (10 minutes, ok smell, hair doesn't feel damaged) but only if it ends up being the color you want, which seems like a gamble.

Comments about Clairol Natural Instincts:
I have been blonde highlights for almost two years when I decided to try to let it grow out. I couldn't stand looking at my long roots with light blonde ends to I went to a salon to have a professional dye the whole thing light brown. Long story shortened, the stylist did an awful job! my roots were red orange and my ends turned a purplish grey. I asked her to please fix it. she did but it didn't last. My hair was turning a horrible shade of greenish grey after one shower with brittle ends that still smelled like ammonia. I bought this hair color because I had used it in the past and my mother uses it too. Has no harsh smell and leaves hair soft and shiny. I knew for sure if I got it in the medium brown it would cover the orange and grey, I also know it will take two colorings to fully cover 100% of the bad dye job I paid $100 for. I waited two or three days to do the second coloring and now I cant tell I had such terrible orange and grey hair. Covered right over it! I am now a medium golden natural looking brown with shine and no brittleness or damage! My hair feels thicker and stronger. This dye will not wash out if your hair is bleached which is great for me! I am so glad this product exists. I couldn't of saved my hair without it!

Comments about Clairol Natural Instincts:
This is so different from the Clairol hair color I use to use. Dried my hair out, feels like straw. The color was SO off, my hair is almost orange, but I'm afraid to use something else on it, just praying this will wash out, if not I'll be cutting my hair very short once my hair starts to grow out and I have enough roots to cut this awful color off. Definitely misrepresented color !

Q:
I'm a natural dirty blonde. I usually get blonde highlights but I want to stop going to the salon. Can I use this on my hair with having highlights? I have not gotten highlights since November1 answer
A:
Hi Mandy! Thanks so much for your interest in Clairol Natural Instincts. If the highlighted hair on the ends is very light, there is a risk of picking up an off tone. Since hair is very individual and there are quite a few variables to consider, so we would love to speak with you directly. Please call 1-800-252-4765. Mon- Fri 8:30AM - 8:30PM EST and Sat 9:00AM-6:00PM EST. We will get you all taken care of!Q:
I bought semi perm color. Will this wash out or will it have to grow out?1 answer
A:
Hi Kathy! Natural Instincts is considered a long lasting semi-permanent (aka demi-permanent) hair color. It is formulated to last up to 28 shampoos. However, if you choose a color darker than your natural hair color, or if your hair is more than 50% gray, or very porous, then it may last longer and may not wash out as expected. I hope this is helpful!Q:
Instructions say to apply to damp hair. I've never applied dye to damp hair. My question, how damp should my hair be?1 answer
A:
Hi there! Great question! While most hair colorants are applied to dry hair, Natural Instincts is designed for use on damp hair. In this case, we mean towel-dried hair and not sopping wet or dripping. Good luck!Q:
Is the natural instincts semi permanent hair dye (dark brown) going to make my already black hair look super black or a subtle dark brown? Also, how long after a relaxer can I use this product?1 answer
A:
Hi Kris! The color will not lighten your black hair - it will leave it just as black. If you apply just to the roots, that will help you to transition to a lighter shade eventually (along with regular haircuts :)). We recommend that you wait one week and at least 1 shampoo after relaxing. I hope this is helpful!Q:
On your brown colors....which is the lighest 6. 6a???1 answer
A:
Hi Moe! The lightest brown in Clairol Natural Instincts is shade 6.5G/11G, LIGHTEST GOLDEN BROWN AMBER SHIMMER.
