Most Helpful Positive Review Hot Tools Works
This is a great product!
Better than the CHI, because the CHI has limited settings.
Most Helpful Critical Review Was worse than current straightener
I bought this straightener to replace a cheap one that I bought from [...]a year ago. I have heard lots of great things about Hot Tools and bought this product when it was on sale and I was also able to use a coupon so I spent less than most people. I went home and tried to straighten my hair and it heated up very quickly but I wasn't able to make much progress in 20 minutes. My hair looked almost the same as before I plugged in the straightener. The one year old [...]straightener that I currently owned did a much better at straightening than the new Hot Tools straightener i just purchased. I returned it right away.

I'll start off by saying that I wouldn't give it any stars if possible. This flat iron would only be good for those whose hair is already 90% straight, I have used flat irons long enough to know what heat feels like what on my hair, and even the highest setting which is 430° feels like 150°, would not recommend this at all.

I got this product as part of a sale. Buy a curling iron and get the straightener free. It didn't do anything for my hair. I turned it all the way up. It takes a long time to heat up and when it is "heated" it takes 6 to 8 swipes over hair to get it "straight." First, it should only take one or two swipes of a straightener to straighten hair and second, the flat iron shouldn't lose heat so quickly after only two or three swipes. My hair still have a wave to it. I am pretty disappointed because I have heard great things about this straightener.
I purchased for ease

I hate doing my hair and wanted something to be quick and easy. I got what I needed
sityluv from Ontario, Ca
I returned this product because it simply did not straighten my hair. It left it wavy and frizzy. I have thin minimal wavy hair very easy to straighten or curl and this product didn't do the job on its highest setting. Also takes very long to heat up.
Excellent flat iron!

I have fine, thin hair that becomes "bushy" with humidity. This flat iron smooths out my hair and makes it shine!
Not worth it
frecklediva from Wisconsin
It really doesn't even touch my hair. The fifteen dollar straightener I had beforeworked better than this does.

Used Hot Tools with a previous flat iron and it lasted me a long time. Since I was used to using this brand I went for new version. I prefer this over other brands because I like that it has wider plates. Makes my hair super shiny, but the temperature settings I have to get used to.

I have a 10-year old Vidal Sassoon 2" flat iron that still works just as well as this one. I wanted a 1" so I asked the associate which iron was the best bang for the buck and she recommended this one. I'm not impressed. I'm by no means an expert but if I'm going to shell out cash for a flat iron, I expect it to work better than my 10-yr old Walgreens special. This will be going back. Hopefully I'll find something better.
Snags hair and doesn't straighten well
Andrea from Odenton, MD
My hair is somewhat curly wavy and I have always had success with flat irons, except this one. It constantly snags my hair. It's like it is getting caught somewhere, I feel like it is getting more and more damaged because of this. Also, it does a poor job of straightening. My hair is just not as wavy, never straight and smooth.

It's my "go to" , i use it all the time, for every occasion what so ever. I absolutely love it, it works perfectly with my hair and it just works wonders!
Not worth it!
Toppertwin from Littlestown, PA
This straightener didn't feel like it was grabbing my hair very well and didn't get it stick straight like I was hoping. It wasn't as hot as my older straightener and did not feel real durable. I bought it because it was less money than some of the other ones, but I would gladly spend more for a better straightener!
Hot tools flat iron

Straight hair took longer then usual to straighten and still was frizzy
Doesn't heat up! Pulls hair!
Daisy from Texas
This product heats up for like 2 minutes then it gets warm and not even warm enough to straighten your hair! You go over and over one strand to straighten it and it pulls your hair! I was not happy at all with this product, returning it today and getting a better one! I do not recommend this product!
Not worth the money
Toppertwin from Littlestown, PA
This hair straightener had a great price when it was on sale and I always heard Hot Tools were high quality tools. My hairdresser uses a Hot Tools straightener and it works wonders. But this one did not get hot enough and did not straighten my hair very well. It also did appear or feel like a high quality tool. I returned it and will continue my search for the ultimate hair straightener.

So I love that it heats up fast cause I'm always in a hurry but just be careful...it does get very hot so you don't need to leave it on your hair for very long at all.
And for those ladies, like me, that wake up with a little frizz in the mornings and just want to straighten and get some shine...this is perfect and quick.
Not worth the money

Not impressed at all! Don't waste your time or money on this product. Does not work any better than the cheap ones.
I just retuned it
dani1612 from Brookline, MA
I wanted a Hot tools because I know they have good products, but this one was not good at all.. The quality is not the best and it leaves marks on your hair. I used it twice and then I decided to exchange it for an ulta chi which I like it so far!
Not as good as I expected
Audrey okie from Stillwater, ok
If you have hair with any kind of curl or wave don't use this one. It doesn't work at all and is a waste of money. I got the non ceramic one that goes to 450 (hot tool) and it is amazing. It straightens my hair better than my chi even. I would have never thought my hair could be silky straight for 2 rainy days straight without touching it up!
The Diva from Chicago, Illinois
I hated this flat iron. I bought it and was super excited to try it cause i had heard good things about it. But it doesn't even straighten!!! It took me forever to get my hair even somewhat straight and after I would straighten my hair it wouldn't stay straight.
Hot! Hot! Hot!
CarolinaGirl0828 from Raleigh, NC
I have wavy hair and a lot of it, so the high heat setting and 2-inch plates are a must on the days I want to straighten my hair. This flat iron heats up fast and has the high heat I need (but also low heat for doing my daughters' hair). I love the extra long cord, too. If it had an auto shut-off feature, it would be absolutely perfect!
Not worth the money

You will not get what you pay for with this. I returned it within a week because it's very time consuming. If you have thick hair like I do then you will have to take the straightener and go over the same pieces of hair at least 5 times before it even straightens well. Not a fan of this product.
Good flat iron for the cost!
Lilac from Manchester
I have spent big bucks on flat irons in the past and i was willing to again. But this fit my budget and is working just as good as the more expensive ones.
I would not recommend this!
Misspooh2005 from Dallas, TX
This iron is not for coarse hair. For medium to fine hair it would work perfect. My hair is coarse and it just does not campare to a Chi. I flat iron my hair in between relaxers. The curls that I like, I could not get with this iron. I took it back and got my trusted Chi and my life is perfect again!

I love it. Use it everyday

I don't know why this product has so many bad reviews- I just got it, and I love it! I have the 2" one, and I had been using an Amika 1" for the past few years until it broke, but this is a fantastic replacement! I have extremely thick curly hair that's down to my waist, and not only did it cut my time in half, it left my hair PIN straight, soft and shiny. People who say it damages hair- obviously it does, any flat iron will, you just need to combat it with a heat resistance cream. It does snag hair a little bit, but not nearly as much as my amika did, so I'm not even putting that as a con! If you have long thick curly hair, and only straigten every so often, PICK THIS ONE! :)
