Most Helpful Positive Review The Greatest Acne Cleanser Ever. I have to say I have tried them all. Years of having sensitive skin with less than moderate, but more than mild acne and I never was satisfied or felt comfortable with my face. I tried every product line in drugstores and even some department stores, and for maybe 2-3 weeks would start to feel confident I had finally found the right product, but then my skin would just go back to the way it had been. A friend recommended the Kiehl's brand to me and so, I curiously wandered into a store in Atlanta one weekend. I knew my skin required more work than just the regular Kiehl's moisturizing cleanser, and noticed the Blue line for Acne. A store employee was extremely helpful and assisted me in picking out this and the regular Blue herbal moisturizer because he said with my sensitive skin using all 3 would be too much. I have to say - it has now been over 2 months and I am still getting compliments on how great my skin looks. Within a week, I noticed dramatic results and I have never been happier with a purchase. I normally don't bother to rate products online, but I really wanted to share this experience with others. This is even a really great value buy, because for $21.00 the bottle lasts over 6 weeks, as long as you use just the right small amount to lather. I strongly encourage you to try this product and the moisturizer - you will not regret it.
Most Helpful Critical Review Was the formulation changed? I have used this for years. My most recent order does not appear like the product I've been using -- instead of being a clear gel (as in the 2nd product photo on this webpage) it is a light brown lotion/gel. It does not work on blemishes nearly as well as the old product. I purchased 4 tubes of this and am disappointed that Kiehl's did not post on the website that this is a new formulation. I did NOT receive a free sample of this -- I paid for it with my own $, 4 tubes of it. The website to enter online reviews is displaying that I received a free sample regardless of what I enter.

IF you have the above mentioned skin types, then this cleanser should work for you!! its a gel type cleanser, which is great because gel cleansers work best on oily & acne prone skin. (whereas cream cleansers work better on dry skin).
If I'm not mistaken, this cleanser is NOT intended to remove makeup. but I do it anyways lol. BUT because the primary intention for this cleanser isnt to remove makeup, it wont do the best job in removing your makeup. but what I like to do is use it in the shower, so the steam can help mix with the cleanser and get all the makeup out.
Please keep in mind that it takes lot of time to improve acne and scars!! So far, I used 3 of these bottles. I LOVE it. ive tried so many other cleansers over the years but i keep coming back to this one. It has 1.5% of salicylic acid. it doesnt have a particular fragrance or anything, but that's not a big deal to me.
I hope they never discontinue this product. I friggen love it. LOVE U KIEHLS < 3 jk this is the only product I really love from them lol

I've only been using this for about 2 weeks and so far so good. I'm 40 with oily, acne prone and sensitive skin, I have not seen any major changes yet, some existing acne is clearing. But it has not made me oilier or broken me out, not drying. It's thick so a little goes a very long way. I use barely a dime sized amount. Lathers well. Skin feels clean and calm after use. I feel like the bottle will last a long time. We shall see.

this product was not effective in decreasing my acne but I enjoyed the consistency and it did do a decent job at removing residual makeup. It also did not cause any additional breakouts.

I have VERY sensitive skin, so I was concerned this could cause irritation, but I was pleasantly surprised! I've been using twice a day for a few weeks now and no irritation, it's got a nice cooling sensation and a good smell. I'm also seeing improvement on my blackheads! Overall I'm very impressed.

I've tried so many facial cleansers from drug store to high end and this is by far my favorite! I have a high sensitivity to Sodium Laurel Sulfate, which this is formulated without! It still lathers nicely though. I would highly recommend to anyone with sensitive skin who deals with acne!

For any Kiehls loyal fans out there, they would have known the old formula is so much better than the new one. I have tried using this new formula for two years by trying it on and off. It simply just doesn't help with my acne. The old formula was my holy grail product and i swore by it, I am so disappointed that this brand always discontinued some great products which I love and adore. Kiehls left me with no option but to find another brand's cleanser because nothing else in their brand works. Really don't like this new product the texture is bad and doesn't foam up properly. I don't feel refreshed after using this product. It simply does nothing.

I have struggled with acne for years and years, and I have tried so many products, and the Blue Herbal products, specifically the spot treatment, work better than anything. When I break out, I am able to control my acne in ways I never could.

I love, love, LOVE this product. It seriously helped with hormonal acne and my skin is now brighter and clearer than ever. The only downside is the bottle. Product is constantly leaking from it and it is impossible to travel with. I would love it if the product could come in a jar or in a better, more leak proof bottle.

The new formulation of this product is not near as effective as the previous formulation. While the texture of the new formulation is nice, it does not work as well on spots.

All skin products I use are Kiehls and I'm mostly very satisfied but I have to say with this one I have zero effect. I started having breakouts and I'm really paying attention to use all the products as instructed but unfortunately I had no positive reaction for more than a month of constant usage.

The old spot treatment was amazing and it was clear. This new formula is not good at all and it?s tan in color. Why do companies always feel the need to tweak something that is good. If it ain?t broke don?t fix it!

I am sorry to say that I am disappointed in a Kiehl's product. The texture is nice and soothing the bottle is easy to squeeze. However after weeks of use, I don't believe this is very effective at treating my acne. The rest of the line is great and at least it didn't make it worse (I know we all miss the blue herbal moisturizer), so I would recommend that other customers use the rest of the line instead.

I was SO impressed with this facewash. Within 48 hours, I and even my husband noticed that my face was visibly cleared, my acne decreased, and my overall skintone was less inflamed/pink. I've used lots of other face washes, (the ultimate face wash) and they weren't effective enough for my acne. So far, this has truly helped. I also love how it leaves my skin feeling "tingly" and doesn't over-dry my skin.

I started using this product a few weeks ago, and I am so presently surprised with what it has done for my skin. I feel like I have tried just about every product for hormonal and stressed-induced acne, and this one does the trick. It is certainly drying, like other reviews have stated, but I use a heavy moisturizer to stay hydrated and I don't have many issues with dryness. With bad breakouts, this cleanser dries them up and gets my face looking and feeling clear again. I love the refreshing scent and the texture as well! Thank you, Kiehls.

I have been using this product for a week. I know a week isn't very long but in comparison to everyone else's reviews I don't think this is the one for me. My skin has gotten WORSE ! I thought it may be purging but no way! I cannot stand to continue to use this just to keep getting new breakouts! I get hormonal acne and I just don't think this is for me. I used the non-acne ultra hydrating wash *i think that's what it's called* I liked that, that's what I originally went in for and I was recommended to try this one since I had active acne. I think it is the ginger root that ruins it for me, as I've used another product with ginger root in it and also broke out bad. I'm done with this...

I?m a major beauty aficionado and pay a lot to maintain my erratic and sensitive skin. I haven?t used Kiehls products in at least 5 years. I tried this product by sheer chance because my usual face wash was finished and I can only buy it overseas. I was looking for something to tide me over without hurting my face till I could reorder my regular one. I knew I needed salycilic acid so gave this one a shot. Wow; what a God-send. It performed way better than my typical product that costs double the price. My face instantly stopped its mini breakouts and was so smooth. It wasn?t harsh or overdrying for me because I double cleanse with a gentle de-stressing foam cleanser. This product also takes off my makeup easily and you only need a little: I just bought my second tube! Love it. Thank you Kiehls - I?m back to you!

I bought this for my daughter who was having acne issues. She left it in my shower one day and I used it once then I was hooked. It's so refreshing and it doesn't over dry out my skin. We fight over it so much I just need to buy another one. Never get rid of this one!!!

I didn't notice menthol on the ingredients list before I bought this. If I had, I wouldn't have purchased it. Menthol is bad for my skin, it really dries it out.
