Most Helpful Positive Review compared to drybar
So I bought both the bedhead at retail price and the Drybar blow dryer brush, on sale and mostly with points. Full disclosure, I only paid $60 for the drybar, so it wasn't a huge loss to experiment with which I like. Here are my thoughts:
Bedhead wins on price for sure, though since I only paid like $60 for the drybar one I'm going to keep it because it's not *that* much more expensive and I'm curious as far as lasting, which one will keep up through time (which is TBD obvi)
Drybar wins on handle comfort. It's much smaller in diameter both in the brush and the handle than the bed head, which makes it much less heavy and comfortable to hold. I also love the square tip because it makes it super easy to notice by feel if I'm losing the angle I want.
They both have only two heat settings and a cool function, but here's where things get strange. I feel like the drybar is the same hotness, but it made my hair much frizzier the first time I used it than the bedhead. Like super frizzy! The second time I used it I switched to the lower setting when I was near my roots which helped, but makes it annoying to keep flipping between. Temp wise they feel the same, but I think drybar blows harder on high which is causing the frizz. So for blow power and heat drybar was higher but bedhead wins because more power isn't necessarily better, like standing in front of a jet engine might dry my hair fast but it'd be a mess lol
They also both dried my hair in the same amount of time, even with the more power of the drybar, probably because I had to switch to low so often to avoid frizz. So they tie here as far as time (about 8 minutes total).
I also think even though the handle was more comfortable with drybar, my hair got stuck in it a few times and that was so annoying. It's never happened with the bedhead and I think it's because it's wider.
Overall I give bedhead an 8, room for improvement in the handle design and adding the square to the top sounds stupid but when I can feel it level in the back it makes it so much easier. Drybar I'd like less power and a wider design to avoid hair pulling and frizzing. And the retail cost is definitely not worth it to me so that brings it to a 6.
Hope this helps someone in making a decision!
Most Helpful Critical Review WAY TOOO HOTTT AND LOUD!!!!
Okay so I bought this at the store.. 1.the bristles are PLASTIC and after my first use they were all spread out and looked like the brush was used over a long period time. so is this going to effect my next use? It would have been so much more worth it if they were boar bristles IN MY OPINION!!! 2. I WAS SWEATING SO BAD !!! After using this I literally had to put my hair up when I was done with my hair to take a cold body shower to cool off !!! I felt so gross after! Although other brands are having that same issue with the heat settings, I cant really hate this specific one because they all get WAY TOOO HOTTT!! Revlon included! I heard they all get to hot but the revlon has a blend of boar bristles witch may help with the frizz and laying the hair down better then the plastic bristles ... I think it did it's job but come on y'all it's way to hot and depending on your actual hair texture you only need a certain amount of head on your hair ! I used the Nero prime by Paul Mitchell and the Kenya blow out mist with the brush and yes it did do a good job with the end result but I had to take breaks from my hair because I couldn't take all the heat... I know I sound dramatic but look at the revlon reviews on YouTube as well they get hot just the same as this one !

This thing is seriously amazing! It takes just a little bit longer to dry my hair with it but that more than makes up for the fact that I don't have to use a straightener afterwards. So much volume and my hair looks like I had a blowout. I got so many compliments on my hair from the first time I used it!

OMG! so happy I bought this. Cut my hair drying and styling time in half! I have curly shoulder length hair that I section off, and blow straight with a brush and hair dryer. Then, flat iron. This dried my hair in no time, almost perfectly straight with body. I just needed light flat iron on ends. It's
very hot, so I recommend a heat protectant, like Redkin Play Safe Heat cream, but other than that, less time on my hair with fabulous results!

The ONLY reason I bought this is bc after 20 years of visiting salons, I could NEVER blow dry my hair with a round brush and get that same result. It was awkward using the round brush and holding the blow dryer. I saw this on sale at Ulta and did a lot of research on this as well as other products. The first day I used it one of my friends thought I had been to the salon for a trim bc my hair looked so fresh. I don't use it on soaking wet hair, usually I towel dry, apply my skin care and then use it. It does get warm and will heat up your hair similar to a straight iron, just not quite as hot.
This really performs like they say

I have medium thickness hair l, about waist length, and this works great.
Good for those who struggle to blow dry their hair.

I just want to say that I love the Blow Out Freak! I have a lot of wavy hair, and I've struggled in the past with blow dryers making my hair really frizzy. So, for a person whose struggles with the at home blow out this was a perfect purchase! I now use it nearly every time I shower. It gives me a good blow out look, and I'm still playing with the different ways I turn the Blow Out Freak. Overall, I'm thoroughly enjoying my purchase!

My hair is on the thinner side, dries straight but can get very frizzy. I typically would have to blow dry and then straighten, especially bc I am not good at blowing out my hair with a brush and blowdryer. This cuts time in half and my hair looks great! Easy to use and no frizz

I really loved this brush! But it didnt even last me a year. I bought this in January and this week it started smelling funny and smelling like burnt! so of course I stopped using it 😣
Ditch the straightener.

So far, I am pleased with this purchase. While it is bigger than the straightener and has taken some getting used to, it has not been impossible. I have shorter hair, but this still works well. The key is to air dry your hair as much as you can prior to using it. From there, it probably takes just as long as blowing drying does but you get the added benefit of straightening while you do so. I even use this on my second day hair to give it a little fix up. Overall, I am glad that I made the purchase.

I wish I could add pictures. Honestly it's way bigger than I imagined but it makes it easier to handle. It's comfortable to grip. The brush portion itself is wide enough to blowdry more hair at once but I still recommend using smaller pieces.
Still took me about 45 mins to straighten my hair but I consider that a win considering I didn't have to blowdry right out of the shower and then straighten afterward. My hair is a few inches past my shoulders, medium thickness, and extremely wavy for reference so I knew it would take longer.
You do have to go through a few times with the strands in order to get that sleek look but my hair lasted a few days with minimal product. It does get hot on the high setting but not unbearable. And the cool setting does work but takes a minute to adjust. I'd recommend!
Best purchase I made for my hair! Works amazing !

This is my favorite appliance!
Julia from Jackson, TN
I use this product to dry my hair after washes, and it takes about 15 minutes when I part it into sections. That's about the same time as a normal dry, but when I'm done, my hair looks like it's been styled professionally. My hair is also much smoother and has more volume. It's great!
For those who don't want to spend much time

I love this tool. I hate spending time on my hair. I usually just brush it and let it be, with some product. This gives me the 'very put together' look. I do a curl to the bottom on my hair for a nice finish.
Great for volume!
Nana from San Francisco
I usually never blow dry my hair but I wanted to test this brush dryer out after seeing the reviews. I love it! It is very easy to use and leaves my hair blow dry perfect. I do recommend using oil and protective products on your damp hair prior to using this brush.

I'm so happy I finally got this!! I can look like a stylist did my hair every day! I can dry and style my very long, thick curly hair in under 30 minutes. It used to take me around 40 minutes to dry and then another 30 to either curl or flat iron. It takes some getting used to to get the technique down. But it's very light for how bulky it is, easy to handle. It does get hot but that's not a surprise, it needs to be hot. I like the cool setting for when I'm done to set my hair.
I would not buy this product again.
Lindsay from NJ
I initially thought this product was great. It dried my hair without frizz and worked quickly.
It recently stopped working. The tool does not heat up anymore and I've only had it for a couple of months. Not worth the money in my opinion.
Too Hot To Handle
Stefanie from Fairmont, WV
This product was a Christmas gift and I had asked for another brand, but received this one. I really like the ease of using the 1 piece of equipment rather than a hair dryer and brush. However, the dryer gets extremely hot and hard to handle. The end opposite the handle is too hot to touch and it tends to burn my scalp.
Mel from Victorville
I love my new styler, I wish I had this years ago
Love this product so much more than I thought
