Worth the Price

By SarahCarolina

Comments about Beachwaver Co. Beachwaver S1 Curling Iron:

To start, my hair goes a few inches past my shoulders. It is fine and straight, but just medium thick. It doesn't hold a curl well, so I try to blow it out to create as much volume as possible at the roots.
While the Beachwaver doesn't create the same amount of volume that I am used to at the roots, I honestly love the more relaxed look. It took me 30 minutes (I used a stopwatch) the first time, but I got better with practice. I prepare each section with a light hold hairspray/heat protectant (Paul Mitchell's Hot Off the Presses).
Now I can easily do my hair in under 10 minutes.
The Beachwaver curls are really the only curls I have ever done that look better the more that I brush them. I love how relaxed and un-fussy they look. I get so many compliments! And it looks great with the bangs (full, not side swept, like the past) that I had cut into my hair 3 months ago.
It used to take me up to an hour to meticulously curl every section of my hair with a regular 1 inch wand (lots of burns!) and the curls were always crushed overnight because there wasn't a good way to maintain them overnight.
The Beachwaver lets me go super casual, twist my hair into a bun for sleeping, and keep my curls for 4-5 days with a few touch ups, or I can use extra products and make it look like I just paid $45 for a Mai Tai at DryBar! All in under 10 minutes!
I threw out almost all of my other curling wands. I will consider the 1.25 when my hair gets even longer for a different look!

Comments about Beachwaver Co. Beachwaver S1 Curling Iron:

I had bought a cheap waver wand, hated it and returned it. The reviews for this curling iron were so helpful, and I'm really happy I tried it. Yeah, it's expensive, but it is of the best quality has all the features to get the best results. My hair came out with perfect waves the very first time I used it, and the waves stay. It was so easy to use, didn't fry my hair, and only took about 10 minutes to use on my shoulder length hair. Definitely worth every penny.

Comments about Beachwaver Co. Beachwaver S1 Curling Iron:

I originally bought the S.75 but was too tight of a curl for my long hair. I would recommend the small one for short hair or if you want spiral curls. The S1 is perfect for beachy waves and much faster curling time. Also, when comparing it to the smaller one, the S1 has a larger clip to hold more hair when curling. I never want to curl my hair the old way again! Highly recommend!!!

Puts all other curling irons to shame!

Comments about Beachwaver Co. Beachwaver S1 Curling Iron:

I sweeear i had no intentions of ever buying a curling iron over $40 but my hot tools curling irons were complete garbage, so after trying my aunt's Beachwaver, i went out on a limb and bought my own! My bank account may hate me but me and my hair LOVE the Beachwaver. Took me 30 minutes to curl my whole head versus 1 hour with hot tools curling irons and on top of that my curls have lasted the entire day! Definitely worth the splurge!

Comments about Beachwaver Co. Beachwaver S1 Curling Iron:

I was so excited to try this iron. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. It is very hard to put hair in the short clamp. This may work for very long hair but I have shoulder length hair and it did not work well at all.

Comments about Beachwaver Co. Beachwaver S1 Curling Iron:

This is SO worth the price! I have EXTREMELY thick hair, and it's so heavy it usually weighs down curls before I can even finish curling my whole head (which usually takes 1.5+ hours) This thing curled my whole head in less than 45 minutes. And even without product the curls lasted for two dayd, turning into gentle waves on day 2. Im SO happy with my purchase!

Great question! We recommend the Beachwaver S1 from shoulder length hair or longer. This iron is also great for all hair types. For shorter hair (chin length or longer), we love using the Beachwaver S.75. This iron is great for fine to thick hair. Take a look at this comparison chart: http://images.ulta.com/is/image/Ulta/beachwaver-s-series-barrel-sizes. The Beachwaver is super easy to use because it takes the guesswork out of curling your hair! It's simple, you part your hair into left and right sections and curl as such. With the clamp facing in, start with the left side of your face, and press the left arrow to curl left-away from the face. For the right side of your face, press the right arrow and curl right-away from your face. We hopes this helps and you love your Beachwaver!

Hello! Great questions! The Beachwaver S1 would definitely give you more defined beachy waves. The Beachwaver S1.25 will give you that more relaxed beachy wave. Take a look at these comparison images to see the difference between a 1" barrel and a 1.25" barrel: http://images.ulta.com/is/image/Ulta/beachwaver-barrel-size-styles. If your hair is should length or longer, the S1.25 would be the way to go!

I am interested in purchasing the Beachwaver, but what's the difference between the models? I have thick hair, just past my shoulder blades. I have seen there's 1.25, s1.25, then the ones that are $199. Thanks.

          • Q:

I have very thick hair that falls a bit below my shoulders. My problem has always been finding a curling iron that holds the curls. After a couple hours, my hair seems to fall flat because it's so heavy, unless I use an entire can of hairspray. Would the s1 be the best size or would the s1.25 hold a better curl?

              A:

Since your hair has a hard time holding a curl, we would recommend using the Beachwaver® S1 or Beachwaver® Pro. The great thing about the Beachwaver, is that you only need to hold the iron in your hair for 3-4 seconds. We recommend not touching your curls until they are completely cooled. Once cooled, you can run your fingers through or one of our favorite things to do is spray a flexible hold hairspray onto a nylon boar bristle brush and gently brush through your hair. This actually distributes the hairspray throughout your hair without making it crunchy or weighed down.

            Hello!
My hair is pretty thick (no layers) blunt bob about jaw/mid neck length. I'm not the best at curling my hair so i figured i would give it a shot. Should i go with the S 1" or the .75" I'm afraid the .75" is going to give my tighter curls, and I'm just looking for beach waves. I'm sure i could go with the .75 but at a lower temp. But I'm also looking for one that can go with different hair styles. I'm always between collar bone and jaw bone length with my hair.

Great questions! For the style you are going for we think the Beachwaver® S1 would be a great option for you! If your hair is closer to chin length, we recommend switching the speed to slow and gently tap the arrow away from your face.

I just ordered the s1 and I am super excited. Although I am worried that I may have bought the wrong size. I have a little longer the shoulder length hair that is pretty thin. I am looking for more of a voluminous curl/wave rather than a twisty ringlet type curl. Would the s1 be the desired size for me?

The Beachwaver® S1 is perfect for hair that is shoulder length or longer! This barrel size will you give you the perfect relaxed beachy waves. A pro tip to make the waves softer and not as tight is to spray some flexible hold hairspary directly onto a nylon boar bristle brush and gently brush through your hair. Your waves will resemble the middle picture: http://images.ulta.com/is/image/Ulta/beachwaver-barrel-size-styles
